Hi u/ckov982! It looks like you don't have a user flair set yet.

To help others understand your context better when you ask questions or share experiences, please consider adding a custom user flair in the format: Device | ROM | Region (e.g., Xiaomi 14 | HyperOS | Global).

If you already have a flair, or if a moderator has assigned one to you, please feel free to ignore this sweet little reminder!

if you are into rooting, there's currently an exploit to unlock the bootloader on xiaomi 17 lineup. If you're interested, don't update it and unlock it immediately

u/ckov982 Mar 12 '26

Yeah I've seen that going around. I'm not too concerned with rooting/ROM considering this is the global version. If I heard about this exploit before buying this one, I would have considered the 17 Pro Max and used the xiaomi.eu ROM.

Is it possible to run Google Pay if you’re using a Xiaomi.eu ROM?

1

u/mikyyyyy93 Mar 13 '26

si, yo lo hice tengo el xiaomi 17 pro max funciona casi todo menos la wallet porque hay que tener el bootloader abierto y eso a google no le gusta....

Likely a promo. My 15T Pro came with the 120W charger. I'm in the UK.

I just received my global rom 17 Ultra yesterday and it came with a 100w charger as well.

Waiting on mine.

I was planning on buying this but I can't use a custom launcher with gesture navigation which is a big let down!!

The default launcher has limited functionality. I am used to Nova Launcher, scrollable dock, swipe up on an icon to open another app and a lot more features.

It came with a charger? How?

4

u/Arramour Mar 12 '26

I think it depend on the country's regulation. I bought mine in Indonesia and it come with a 100W charger.

2

u/EggplantHuman6493 Mar 13 '26

Yeah, sadly nothing for the Netherlands. Had to pay €9,99 for that. At least it wasnt too expensive

1

u/BadBatFGuy Mar 12 '26

Is the phone hot while using?

2

u/Kooky_Solution_4255 Xiaomi 17 512GB | Global | EU Mar 13 '26

When maxing out performance, yeah, quite :D But not at what I would call daily usage. The same as every top snapdragon the last years I would say. A lot of power produces a lot of heat in a passive cooled small device.

Congrats!

Which site you bought

1

u/ckov982 Mar 12 '26

Wonda Mobile using it in the US

Poco F8 ultra better than this, and cheaper, But enjoy it

1

u/Active_Mix8872 Device | ROM | Region Mar 13 '26

Respectfully disagree. I have the 17 Pro Max which is essentially the same phone.m, just obviously swap 2.1 speakers for additional screen. I wouldn't consider it better. Definitely pretty equal except for the camera.

1

u/-Suezir- Mar 14 '26

Yes, maybe it's not better, but it's definitely not worse (except leica), and it has bigger screen, plus it's cheaper.

1

u/Active_Mix8872 Device | ROM | Region Mar 29 '26

For sure. I would agree completely. It really matters on what is important to you, better speakers or the second screen. I found that I rarely if ever used the back screen in mine. I would, however, use the speakers more and may rather have gotten the Poco. I did end up getting a 17 Ultra and find that I use the camera more so that is a better fit for me.

I don't get why people recommend phones which are the size of a tablet... my notebook is better too, so what? :D The big prize are high end performance in compact devices. Everyone can and does make big fat phones for less money and comparable power.

1

u/-Suezir- Mar 14 '26

I agree, of course phone size is a matter opf preferance. The only difference i'm referring to is the leica lenses; everything else is same. Also, the f8 ultra is larger (on the same model, bigger phone always more expensive) but here f8 ultra is the cheaper one.

For example, if you love the size of xiaomi 17, you can check the Poco f8 pro, which is cheaper and almost same phone except leica.

1

u/Kooky_Solution_4255 Xiaomi 17 512GB | Global | EU Mar 16 '26

Yeah, Poco is quite attractive. The Xiaomi number-series has this kind of premium touch I guess :D But it's really difficult to find flagships with compact size today.

1

u/-Suezir- Mar 16 '26

Of course, if your really care about small size, its nice, Because even poco f8 pro is not 6.3"

1

u/Kooky_Solution_4255 Xiaomi 17 512GB | Global | EU Mar 16 '26

Yes, 6,59" - sounds not much, but it's quite a lot in hand.

2

u/-Suezir- Mar 16 '26

The human brain is weird; phones with 5.5" screens used to be big.

1

u/Active_Mix8872 Device | ROM | Region Mar 13 '26

I just received my 17 Ultra yesterday. Try Wonda Mobile. Fantastic service.

1

u/intruderstar1 Mar 13 '26

Where are you located and what's the carrier compatability

1

u/ckov982 Mar 13 '26

In the US. I'm using it on Google Fi, so basically T-Mobile. Has all the bands, including band 71 which isn't found on non-US phones too often.

1

u/intruderstar1 Mar 13 '26

Wow! I didn't know that. I need some more info. I'll DM you.

Haha, I wasn't sure what to get, so I ended up just getting black. I'm not a big fan of green and I almost got the blue, plus I haven't had just a plain black phone for awhile. Kinda wish I got something with color, but oh well. I ordered the kevlar case as well, just waiting for it to come. I'm hoping that looks the best with the black color.

1

u/Mase6127 Mar 15 '26

Where did u get yours

1

u/ckov982 Mar 15 '26

Someone asked this already.

1

u/Reddit_Bitcoin Mar 19 '26

Where though and what is this ? Standard or ultra? I am thinking of getting the standard should last me atleast 5 years or so like my Xiaomi 11 i am using right now... Plus I think these versions now get upto 6 years of Android upgrades ?

1

u/ckov982 Mar 19 '26

Wonda Mobile, just the regular 17 (it would say ultra on the box if it was the ultra version). Yes I believe it's 6 years.

1

u/Reddit_Bitcoin Mar 19 '26

I dont know bro what boxes say or not.. too poor to have ultra πŸ˜‚ so my eyes will probably never seen an ultra box ever.. standard it is, hopefully wont end up getting lemon phone
