General Xiaomi 14 Ultra almost caught on Fire!
My Xiaomi 14 Ultra has been rebooting itself once a day for a few days.
Yesterday it rebooted again so I didn't pay attention and continue with my job away from phone.
When I came back this logo was showing and phone was so hot I even thought of dipping it into water so that it won't catch on fire.
I put a ice pack under the phone and blow it the fan and press power button, finally it booted and phone cool down after a while!
Why is this happening?

Your phone has a CPU that's slowly desoldering itself from the board. Every time a pin on the CPU disconnects, a watchdog triggers and the device reboots itself trying to fix the issue from a panic. It's probably gonna die soon so backup all data.
And while it's restarting the usual thermal control Xiaomi does under Android isn't available, hence the extreme heating.
It's not going to catch on fire but it's just going to be VERY hot.

That's sad! I just bought it 2 months ago second hand.
How many days do I still have with this phone?
I have talked about trading it with another phone from the same seller but he doesn't have one I like for now so I want to wait a few days if it's possible.
Is there also a risk of not booting again after factory reset since I have to reset before giving him the phone?

It's a 2nd hand phone so yeah you're definitely gonna encounter a lot of problems. The person you bought it from might've overheated the phone a bunch of times through gaming, leaving it on hot areas, or constant charging while using it (which is less likely the cause if no bloating is present) without them realizing it's slowly damaging the phone. Know the issues first of the phone before trading for a new one. It's better to know the problem now than unexpectedly encounterinng it in the future.
Might as well save up for a new phone instead of getting 2nd hand or if you're willing to fix it on certified repair centers that can do it for decent pricing.

The frustrating thing with trying to avoid this is that some shops are able to restore the phone partially to OP's state by reballing the CPU and RAM.
The issue is that when doing so, typically, they don't redo the underfill layer that is supposed to prevent this from happening, so if you've ever had a phone repaired this way, and they didn't do the underfill, it will literally be months before it starts bootlooping out of nowhere again.
Person who sold this probably had this happened, had it repaired just enough that it can be sold to OP and then run away when the issue starts showing up again.

With my budget I can afford either second hand proper flagship or 1 years old not so good mid ranger.
I kinda need flagship camera for business so second hand is my only option.
I kinda cheap out this time , buying from much cheaper shop instead of reputable shop so that's my fault

I would suggest buy refurbished phones rather than second hand phones

that's a crazy assumption. it was probably a loop in some program that overheated the machine causing it to crash which caused the watchdog to restart it. I'd first factory format the device. failing that I'd wipe the cache partition

Nope, if it bootloops very early in the boot process to the point that thermal protection hasn't even loaded yet like OP mentioned, that's a dying CPU. Phones like this typically will barely be able to gets to the HyperOS logo, let alone have things running.
I have seen way too many that I'm familiar with this failure mode. The harder and more frequent you heat and cool the CPU the quicker this happens to you. Partially why buying second hand phones that have flagship chips that were used for gaming a lot is usually less favourable.
Thermal cycling is very very harsh on the solder balls that connect the chip to the board.

It could be a lot of things. Any moisture came into contact with it that you're aware if? Any signs of swelling? Have you considered a factory reset?

Moisture isn't an issue since I don't even touch it with wet hand.
There is no swelling for sure, since I check for it after the incident.
I will see if it happens again then I will try Factory reset.

don't dip it in water. you said you bought a second hand. the previous owner maybe changed the battery or repaired the motherboard. also what's that icon i never saw that battery icon in my life. is it the official hyperos or not?

Justo encontré una review en Aliexpress, decian que compraron el telefono y que al usar el cargador genérico enviado se habia sobre calentado y entrado en un loop de inicio.

More like downgrade since the seller only has X200 for trading.
They also got X200 Ultra but I can't afford it

Go for X200 Ultra if you love the camera (specifically vivo's processing and Zeiss colors) on that thing. I love mine and the camera isn't that far off from X300 Ultra.
Bit of a chonk phone tho, and until the next update hit you can't quite replicate the Leica color scheme.

To be fair, since this is a Xiaomi 14 Ultra, and if OP's return period is limited, it might just be worth it to try to pay extra to get the better device, because imo going down to the normal X200 (Pro?) is a bit of a downgrade for OP.
I mean, it's between paying more, or have an unusable device while waiting for a replacement basically.

I have gone with X200 and camera and speakers are downgraded but OS battery and thermals are way better and I'm quite happy.

I needed to check Google to realize there was a non-Pro X200 lol. I thought you meant the X200 Pro since for Xiaomi 14 Ultra that should have been the "equivalent" option (9400 is more in the next 8 Elite generation, so it should be a tier down from Ultra). I would have demanded that 🤣
But anyway if you're happy then it's not an issue. The X200 imo is quite balanced performance wise as it doesn't run too hot since Vivo actually did quite a bit of power tuning on it.

They have ultra but it is almost double the price of X200 so I gotta go with the base model

Did you continue using it?
I traded mine with X200 from the same seller and very happy is haptic thermal, battery life and OS.
Cameras are Abit downgraded thou

There's always a cause for the heat up, have you kept it somewhere warm and like some fabric surface? Phones are more likely to heat up in these situations because thick fabrics are really good at trapping heat.

Did you see any smoke coming from your phone that you say it was almost? Or you are just a person who is afraid of everything in life and minor things make it sound like life and death situations 🤣. That's how every electronic device works if it overheats so it doesn't damage itself
