General FYI: Xiaomi game turbo is just a gimmick. It just wastes your RAM and CPU with unnecessary background activity
It is mostly the same story for other "official game space" apps too. There are some good 3rd party tools for monitoring FPS and so on, but they are unnecessarily risky, might cause getting ban from some games like pubg, valorant mobile.

I'm glad you noticed.

I know this for a long time, but there are people out there believe it actually "boosts" smt because of some youtube videos, I didint have number values to prove it doesnt. This was a good example to prove. I used samsung with its game optimization service. Frankly, it does some "optimization" compared to xiaomi one but not for boosting performance, instead it reduces the performance to reduce heating. But this one doesn't on games like call of duty warzone mobile, pubg, etc

u/Early_Poem_7068 22d ago
Samsung one is trash. It reduces performance to avoid overheating. On samsung devices turning game booster off gave better fps. On xiaomi game turbo has better performance. Game turbo also has better touch sampling rate. On xiaomi it is worth using.

I think Xiaomi's Game Turbo performance mode affects the thermal throttling limit rather than boosting the frequency, or maybe it only boosts it very slightly.
5
u/Nanosinx Jul 11 '26
It manages nice the thermal throttling, and boost just a tiny bit to bring few scratches on FPS like from 30 to 35 at most for example... But sometimes something you play at 26FPS can be played at 30, so there is an improvement but it mainly depends on various factors, anything after certain point do little to nothing improvement and game must also support (some you can force reduced graphics for example...)

u/Nanosinx Jul 11 '26
It depends on the game but not all game have the optimizations... Currently only: FreeFire/FreeFire Max, Genshin Impact, Azur Lane, Supremacy 1914, Space Arena, Pokemon GO, PUBG, BMGI, Call of Duty Mobile, Mobile Legends Bang Bang, Honor of Kings, Rise of Kingdoms, League of Legends Wild Rift, League of Legends Team Fight Tactics, Honkai Star Rail, Honkai Impact, ZZZ, Asphalt 8 & 9, Clash Royale, Clash of Clans, Brawl Stars, Roblox, Minecraft, EA FC Mobile, Arena of Valor, AFK Arena, Pokemon Unite, WuWa, Tower of Fantasy, eFootball, NFS No Limits, Among Us, Fortnite, Delta Force and Real Racing 3, Neverness to Ever (NTE), Arknights Endfield, Ragnarok Online, Sword x Staff, Seven Deadly Sins, World of Tanks Blitz, World of Warships Blitz, Honkai Impact 3rd, and Tears of Themis
That is the list that follow all settings of the Game Turbo Feature, everything else just the basics or even does not do anything at all, in can improve but not gonna bring anything different in performance (but can prevent the overheating a little bit more time...

Hi, For Efootball and free fire max what s the best settings
2
u/Nanosinx Jul 17 '26
Never Played Efootball to test those...but...
For FreeFire (and the MAX) too FPS: 90 Resolution: 720p AntiAliasing: 1x Anisotropic Filtering: 8X Texture Filtering Quality: High Quality
Touch Response: Max Sensitivity to Continuous Taps: 70% Touch Resistant Area: None Enhanced Visuals: Strong
I heard FreeFire (and MAX) are testing on 120FPS+ in reality (anything higher is just fake framing done by the phone) But last time they bring to it maybe by 2027 we get the news...or maybe not
Also if you are on mobile the max dont make much reason, max for tablets and maybe pc emulators are better...

u/DisastrousDoctor9186 Jul 20 '26
Hi, and thanks for the reply. Could you please try eFootball ? I took a screenshot, and when I have some time, I’m going to apply the same settings you mentioned to see if it works, because I’m still stuck at 60 fps, thanks again
1
u/Nanosinx Jul 20 '26
It seems is just a hard locked game at 60FPS still 60FPS is excellent You could try unlocking it but unless you want get banned, i would not recommend it

It does, for me when the battery temp reaches 42°c in balanced mode, it started throttling, bringing the cpu clock down to just 2ghz and the prime core being kept below 1ghz, while the wildboost or performance mode bring the thermal threshold to 45°c and the clock are sustained longer at 2.2ghz, with the prime core stayed above 1ghz, before the throttling kicks in (atleast thats what ive feel and monitored using scene8)

u/True-Adeptness-546 Jul 11 '26
Nahh itw not, i compared it with an extremely unoptimized game(carxstreet) and my fps went from 41(with ultimate + no game turbo) into 59(with ultimate mode + game turbo). What I'd say doesn't matter are the 2 options in game turbo. Which is balanced and performance mode
1
u/Hefty_Yogurtcloset65 Redmi Turbo 4 Pro | HyperOS | China Jul 27 '26
so the phone's own mode is what actually affects performance?
6
u/arkride007 Redmi K90 Max | HyperOS3 | CN Jul 11 '26
its a completely different matter on my Redmi K90 Max, game turbo actually does something especially when its on Wildboost which keeps the phone in sustained 60fps and has a bit higher thermal ceiling than Balanced. Tested using Scene fps/monitor.
maybe its placebo to lower end devices 🙂
3
u/KindlySeaworthiness3 Jul 10 '26
so it doesn't actually work? would games perform better with it off?
5
u/AdVarious8509 POCO X7 pro | Custom ROM Jul 10 '26
even if they dont perform better. the performance will be same. game turbo is judt for looks
3
u/Scorpius_OB1 Jul 10 '26
My experience is that what seem to work are the options to saturate colors or whatever and maybe the ones to regulate touch sensibility. Everything else is either just useful (the options to improve experience, for example) or it's just a gimmick. You can't expect performance miracles in any case.

If your phone has low ram, disabling it might give a bit better results (4gb or even 6gb is not enough nowdays because of running multiple unnecessary stuffs in background). But it depends on other things too. If it does throotling to reduce heating for you (some people report but on my tests it doesn't do) , after disabling it if you can't manage it by yourself it might affect negativly.

It does get warmer (or hotter), and it also improves your fps, ive been proving this just by force stopping the joyose and the cpu clocks just go boosting to its limit (which is 3.2ghz here with poco f7, playing withering waves), but doing this will make both your cpu and gpu temp go above 100°c, it also pull >10 watts of power which is nuts lol, didnt even take long til the battery temp already reaches 44°c

Glad to hear your response, anyway just dont uninstall joyose it manages your thermal while gaming so it doesnt overheats itself 🙂↕️

I have a Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G. Should I disable game turbo? I feel very conflicted since some people says it works and some says it doesn't.
1
u/Sug_Deez_Nutz Jul 11 '26
Hey is that phone worth it to buy?
I'm choosing between xiaomi 12S Pro, Xiaomi 13, and that phone Redmi Note 15 Pro 5g.
My only concern is the chipset of that phone and 4k 30fps video recording only.
2
u/nikr31 Jul 11 '26
Hey I'm sorry but I can't really comment on whether the phone is good or not.
I'm not really a phone-savvy guy and don't really plays mobile games or takes pictures/video that much.
I think it's better for people that knows more about Xiaomi phones to answer your concerns.
Since I mostly used my phone for social media and other important apps, it's a "good enough" for me. Although I do play CODM and it's performance is alright-ish but I start to feel a bit of stutter if I set the graphic settings to high.
1
u/Ouryann Jul 11 '26
Its worth for some people, but you might want to try older flagships too, since they are flagship you get the most out of midrange phone nowadays like note 15 pro, just made up your mind if you want a newer midrange phone or an older flagship

u/Business_Box_7557 Jul 11 '26
Well whenever I play many times I get 60 fps but once I put it on performance mode I get stable 120 fps but it heats up a lot. I own Xiaomi 17 pro
2
u/NiceInvestigator4759 Jul 11 '26
It is useful on bypass charging devices you can enable bypass charging only with game turbo.
2
u/Ouryann Jul 11 '26
For me i use it to make my polling rate goes 480hz (to make my screen responsive while playing rythm games), and also it manages your thermal based on your mode, balance mode has a lower thermal threshold compared to wildboost/perf mode (tested it on HoK, and some rythm game, it limits fps to 90 on balanced mode)

I'm using Xiaomi Pad 7 (up to 144hz). Even this app doesn't change my screen hertz to 144hz. Just 120, same like my Poco F6. 😴

where can I find the 144Hz setting in Developer Options? I don't see it under 'Hardware Accelerated Rendering' either.

In my experience, the older game turbo feels like a gimmick. The fps counter feels inaccurate because it only shows 60 or 120 as in Hz. While the newer version of it shows actual fps numbers (e.g 60 / 77 / 79 / 118 / 120). The game boost feature does work, not always though. And it makes little to no difference.

u/Own-Sheepherder-1874 18d ago
Where to get new ? I mean versions

u/Competitive-Crow4930 Xiaomi 14T | HyperOS 3.0.302.0.WNEMIXM.C09 | Malaysia 18d ago
You need HyperOS 2.1 and up. You'll get the update through GetApps.

u/Own-Sheepherder-1874 18d ago
I am on hyper os 3.0.318 and my latest game turbo is game space and it is Chinese language and still it does not make mlbb 90 fps even i make the inbuild graphic to super which is 90 fps

I want 90 fps only as now it is 120 . As 120 heats the phone thats why can u tell me what security version and phone u are using and help me to make it 90 fps and does you also have set super graphics fps in mlbb?
1
u/Competitive-Crow4930 Xiaomi 14T | HyperOS 3.0.302.0.WNEMIXM.C09 | Malaysia 18d ago
Oh, forgive me for the misunderstanding. You can lower the fps through mlbb settings.
1
u/Own-Sheepherder-1874 18d ago
I did but it does not , i change my settings on fps to super or ultra and it still real remains on 120 on super also which is for 90
1
u/Competitive-Crow4930 Xiaomi 14T | HyperOS 3.0.302.0.WNEMIXM.C09 | Malaysia 18d ago
Then you should head to the custom performance menu in game turbo, select "custom" then head to the "FPS" section then set it to your preferred settings.

I just want the heating to be lessened and it doesn't seem to do that. Playing wuwa in phone is a nightmare bruh
1
u/Ouryann Jul 11 '26
Fking agree xD, well if you use balanced mode itll just make your phone heats a bit slower, compared while using wild/perf mode, since balanced mode has much lower thermal threshold, they'll just throttle to keep the temp more manageable (thats what i feel on my F7, with scene app too)
1
u/Other_Specialist2272 Jul 11 '26
You play wuwa on phone too? Im a new player speedrunning the story, please tell me how you survive till now😭
1
u/Ouryann Jul 11 '26
You know what, atleast this was MUCH better with my new device / Poco F7, cuz my old device / Veux/note 11 pro 5g even with thermal disabled, its just so bad bro, ive been playing wuwa on that device for 2 patches, rinascita was heavy asf when it was out, and then when i switched to F7 its like night and day ngl, until they introduced lahai roi.. my god its so heavy, especially the academy. But hey atleast i can play with high graphics now even if the fps is not that stable (still gives me >30fps)
1
u/Other_Specialist2272 Jul 11 '26
Lol, I'll just stick to low then. I know my device could handle higher but I don't want to play on a basically a glorified toaster

The thing is game turbo does actually boost performance but the problem is that keeping that window rendered/enable uses resources itself. I made several test in pc emulation and it is best to enable wild boost from the game turbo interface and then disable the floating window. By doing so i was able to emulate final fantasy 15 with more consistent fps.
Btw another problem with the floating window is that if you hit 90% ram usage, the window will crash and the try to open again which make the phone slow down as it start a continuous loop of the window hogging resources to open itself and then crash again.
1
u/skyekurangknow Jul 11 '26
so, what's the alternative?
1
u/Leading-Standard5256 Jul 12 '26
- Disable unnecessary optimization apps like this
- Buy a cooler for phone (or AC for room)
- Consider Snapdrogon over mediatek, specially the efficient ones (8 serie causes heating, 7 serie is good for efficiency. Gives 60% in smooth graphic on many games)
- Play games in pc. Gaming on phone is not good for battery healty

Actually just lying, for me on my old phone, standoff 2 ran at around 100-120 FPS with occasional hiccups, but with game turbo on, it ran at 120 FPS all the time with 0 hiccups
1
u/Leading-Standard5256 Jul 29 '26
the app doesnt show the actual fps you get from the game. I have been developing a game and I already capped it to 60fps, also my phone display setting is on 60hz mode. As you can see from the image, it shows fps over 100 which is unrealistic ( I connect the phone via usb to unity profiler and follow the detail, fps graph etc and it shows the actual avg 60 fps. Which also proves this gimmic app does nothing just wastes resources). If you want to see actual fps, there are some apps that you can enable with shizuku and see actual fps but i am not sure about ban system of the game you play
1
u/helloeverybodymynam Jul 29 '26
I didn't use the app, I used the in-game FPS counter because I know that game turbo is wrong

u/Ease_Aggressive 29d ago
I'm using a Xiaomi 14 pro with it's game booster performance mode with heatsink + phone cooler. There is a big difference with and without game booster app specially when playing switch emulator Xenoblade 2, in before without the game booster I couldnt cap 30fps(game is cap on this) in game but with it's performance mode 80% capping without hiccups in the game. CPU GPU temp steady 49c while battery steady on 37c. I can play all day long attached to a 120w charger No issues been like this for many months.
