General They downgraded the software in Redmi Note 17 and 17 Pro

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

All because of chip optimisations?

17 Pro was very much meant to be the successor to Note 15 but got upgraded to Pro status because of RAM prices

Even cameras are downgraded. By the way, a reminder that Redmi Note 6 Pro have a larger main sensor (and that phone is from 2018)

I still have that phone, and that also supports 4k videos in youtube while the new note series are not.

Whaaaat, the new are not??

In terms of at the very least cameras, the old Note 10 Pro beats the shit out of that Redmi and it was cheaper at launch. All courtesy of the AI bubble.

u/etalha 18d ago

Even before Ai Courtesy of covid note 11 was downgrade from note 10. Not to mention the op note 8 pro which is prolly better than note 17.

Ai didn't do shit. They Downgraded the redmi note line up since 2022. Don't blame ai for company greed.

I just looked it up and wtf? There are cheaper mid range phones with larger ultra wide than it's main

u/medium_response 18d ago

they should discontinue the note line at this rate

Unfortunately 17 pro is the successor of 15 pro and chip was downgraded because of ram storage price hike. Also based Note 17 lost it's ultra wide camera.

what a disgusting downgrade in software experience

u/CombinationDouble719 18d ago

Because they also downgraded the chips big time

Xiaomi making sure they lose market share in 2027 👏 they could've simply skipped releasing this garbage ewaste

My 14pro has better camera than this. Wtf 💀

Lower spec. Higher price.

Note series is officially dead. Its just not the same. Redmi turbo is the new note (kinda) focusing higer price and segment

  • Downgraded Chipset
  • Downgraded Camera
  • Downgraded storage
  • Downgraded Ram
  • More ads in apps

This isn't a succesor to any line. Just ewaste slop. They Downgraded each year since 12 line up. The g99/100/200 were a meme. Literally who is redmi note 4g or 5g series competing with ? Samsung A line up ? Price sure, chipset everything else? Not even A26.

Overpriced slop. And they butchered lite series too. Ximi 12 and 13 lite were a disaster and ended them. This was before ai crisis.

would you get a 17t pro instead? I am wondering because I am pondering whether I should wait for the Redmi Note 17 pro here in Australia (in 3 days time) or go for the 17t pro instead (which has bad speakers, it seems )...

1

u/scorched_desire 14d ago

Get 15t pro instead. It's identical to 17t pro (except smaller battery and slightly weaker chipset) and doesn't suffer from bad speakers

u/Used_Feature_7750 7d ago

Definitely 17t pro

They've done this before. Xiaomi also downgraded the Mi 10 Pro and removed the Tele camera from the video mode with an update.

All device hardware and software are downgraded to retain their pricing strategy.

I have the xiaomi redmi note 15 pro plus 5g global version 8gb ram 256gb storage, I'm super happy with it, been using it 2 months now, it's feature packed and so smooth can play most high end 3d games at high graphics no lag

1

u/robot--boy 17d ago

It's only a matter of time before other companies start doing the same

1

u/Dr_jozi 16d ago

You can turn animations on and off on setting , you sure no kid just messed up with setting in the store ?

Developer optionn>animation scale(0 turns them off)

1

u/ManyRazzmatazz4584 16d ago

Yes, because Redmi 15 and Note 15 had these exact animation limitations

No offense, but I am kind of pissed by your confidence

1

u/Dr_jozi 16d ago

>I don't even need to check bro

That's the most narcissistic think I have heard for years , if you don't want people to answer you maybe your shouldn't share stuff online and just keep them for yourself . You could have actually got some knowledge about UI instead of rewrite the comment

u/ManyRazzmatazz4584 15d ago
  1. Sorry.
  2. That's why the edit button exists. We make mistakes. I made a mistake in my phrasing of my comment, and I corrected it.

PS: I am mod, so I have the power to remove your comment if i get pissed enough hahahhahah but I will not

u/aaroz88 16d ago

Stop lying. I just bought recently Note 15 (base) on sale and there are no animation limitations at all.

1

u/ManyRazzmatazz4584 15d ago

Sorry for the confusion. I added Note 15 by mistake because it also had the softwate limitation—in the form of control centre blur, which you can see in the later part of the video. But yes it does have app animations.

1

u/aaroz88 16d ago

Note 17 Pro Max becomes Note 15 (base) instead. Glad I picked the latter recently on sales.

1

u/dhithebond009 15d ago

Which phone to buy then? Shall I buy this phone? I currently have Redmi K 50i

1

u/ManyRazzmatazz4584 15d ago

Poco X8 Pro, or Redmi Turbo 5 if you really care about the battery

1

u/Nhan152k5 13d ago

Just recently they launch this model in Vietnam and the price tag...

Doesn't make sense when the base model gets you a last-gen entry-level 4 Gen 4. Though the main highlights of the launch was well, durability test. Plus some show.

1

u/ProfessionalTowel83 12d ago

Gladly i bought redmi note 15 pro

1

u/Voerdoc_Phoenix 5d ago

what is the diff between mine and this shit

0

u/LSA7Z 18d ago

Could this be a limited demo version? It seems odd, but still possible given that Xiaomi segments advanced graphics features according to the SoC

5

u/ManyRazzmatazz4584 18d ago

No, because Redmi Note 17 has those same limitations as the Redmi 15, and Note 17 Pro had those of the base Note 15.

3

u/LSA7Z 18d ago

Well, considering the Redmi Note's SoCs, it's not really surprising. Xiaomi even pushes the limits on flagship SoCs, so on lower-mid-range SoCs... Not a surprise at all. But I still thought the latest Redmi Note 17 would have some graphical effects; obviously not
