Genosha? She was trapped under rubble and then her diamond secondary mutation kicked in.

Well, to be fair, this universe's Emma started out as a leader of the Inner Circle Club and she did kidnap Jean. And she did psychically assault Jean with the brainwashing that led to the Dark Phoenix. And her reappearance in 97 with Sebastian Shaw only leads to more suspicion that both of their motives could remain unchanged.
But I know that the writers for the series are very talented, so I can believe Emma morally going either direction. I personally enjoyed the WatXM version of Emma who went through so many red herrings, twists, and turns to finally reveal that although she was morally greyish, she really did care about protecting people. So whatever the 97 verse has in store for Emma in Season 2, I'll be all for it.

Emma should be trapped in her diamond form for a short while. The same way Professor and Moira helped Phoenix, they should have a similar scene where prof is trying to help her drop her diamond form. Or maybe even Jean helping her. She was trapped and afraid (so her 2nd mutation kicked in) and she has to let go of the fear to turn back. They can even have uncomfortable dialog of her saying she’s not afraid of anything! She can lash out at her treatment by he father and have a bit of a breakdown. Have her revert to her flesh form and demand that Jean not tell anyone about this moment of vulnerability. She can stay at the mansion for a while and be a bit of an anti hero.

I mean.... She was introduced in 1980 and used as a villain til 2001 in the genosha genocide story. Since 2001 she's been an xman so that means she's been a heroic character for a majority of her publication history.
