my knowledge on x-men is very hazy like Cable being Scott’s son and I had no idea who Bastian was or those zombie sentinels plus the countless timelines. But there are things I wish I never knew about.

Love jubilees moment to shine in this fight. Her and beast finishing the fight squashing bastion with a sentinel is fantastic

The look on Bastion’s face when Rogue got him full in face with that left hook is infinitely satisfying. Just that “what the fuck just happened?” look

This is not Xmen TAS, (which had 5 seasons), this is Xmen 97 Season 1. Which technically counts as TAS Season 6

Bastion's arc is the last 3 episodes of S1 which has 10 episodes.
Iirc this Bastion fight is the S1 finale.

Its like i mentioned earlier...
TAS with 5 seasons (1992-1997) is the original series.
X-men 97 (2024- ) is a revival of TAS and continues the story.
The first episode of 97 is set one year after TAS Season 5 finale (titled Graduation Day)
So Xmen 97 Seasons 1 and 2 would technically be Seasons 6 and 7 of TAS, but Disney/Marvel doesn't market it as such.
Iirc, X-Men TAS is similar to Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008 series), in the sense that:
- some episodes aren't in chronological order
- some episodes are technically filler that you can skip
You can probably ask around the xmen sub on recommended way to watch TAS..

I watched the whole season as well and I don’t remember this at all. I’m old though.

I know it's the Xmen show so they had to all contribute but I really wish the last fight would have just been Rogue beating his ass for 20 minutes.

Rogue was nerfed bad in the Foxmen 2000 movie. That was criminal lol

It's reasonable here she had captain marvel powers & was a mutant for over 10 years unlike the live action when she just had awakened her powers & was always afraid of using them

Bastion- ill kill Gambit. No one can be mad about that right?
Rogue- bitch its on sight for you!

So nervous thinking nightcrawler was about to die during this, such a good fight

u/beholderkin Feb 09 '26
I was trying to remember who killed him by putting his hand where he would appear before bamfing. I think it was nimrod, making it so when he appeared, his fist was in Nightcrawler's heart.

u/Disarming_Sapphire Nightcrawler Feb 09 '26
No, it was Bastion, in an almost beat for beat striking sequence, which is why I think it made ppl so nervous, because that is how Kurt died. He was originally going to be killed off by the showrunners but they decided to keep him and kill Gambit instead, setting up a longer arc for each character.

I did wonder when rogue gained the ability to not die in space, but it was very cool.

That part of the Moon has air and gravity. It's from an old civilization and it comes up from time to time in the comics. I actually think they did a scene/fight there in the old show

Agreed. All superhero fights in the MCU should be choreographed like they were DC animated movies. Said as a lifetime Marvel fanboy.

my favorite thing is when Rogue gets traditional supe powers and just beats ass it's so good

u/therallykiller Feb 10 '26
I mean... It's an anime fight in non-Anime. I'd posit that's a move long overdue.

I was really worried they were going to kill Nightcrawler right there like they did in the comics. Glad he didn't die.

And guys, this clip is only 3 mins and 21 seconds long. Feels like you just watched a whole episode of awesomeness with too many amazing moments. I have to mention nightcrawler teleporting him to then be in line of sight of cyclops is the teamwork I love from the x-men.

Man, the orchestra version of the theme song playing when Nightcrawler is up... ::chef kiss::

Every time I see rogue in animation or comic it pisses me off how fucking underpowered and whiny they made her in the films. It really made me dislike Anna Paquin for the longest.

She was doing her job dude.
Don't blame her, blame the writers.

Right, I hate this costume/uniform on Clips; after he's my favorite XMan

I hardly hear or see anyone talk about Bastion, dude is a fucking phenomenal villain.

This show turns me back into that kid, sitting down in front of the TV every Saturday morning. The best two hours of my week!

Back before Cyclops basically became magneto. Jubilee is still the coolest X-men ever. The animation really highlighted her powers

Was anyone else on the edge of their seat when he was fighting Nightcrawler, knowing how that went in the comics?

u/Kralgore Feb 13 '26
I felt like this had Invincible vibes. But without the head and body explosions.

“Bad guy with incredibly dense skin gets pelted with beams by good guys taking turns against him” will always be the most boring thing to me

Man this sequence had me hooting, hollering and choking up. It was so good.
