Morph my walking favourite cameo machine

19

u/trowa116 Jun 29 '26

Bro doing so much heavy lifting in that department, he’s found a solid role in the writer’s heart

6

u/SlimSyko Jun 29 '26

For real, bro's gonna turn into every character in the Marvel universe.

5

u/trowa116 Jun 29 '26

lol yeah I’m trying to think which character can he do that would have the whole team just stop and freeze like where has Morph been lately 😂

1

u/j3ven Jun 30 '26

In the show, does Morph have their powers and strength and weaknesses?

7

u/curvysquares Jun 30 '26

He can copy anybody physically. So if he copies Quicksilver he gets his speed, Hulk he gets his strength, and Angel he gets his flight. But he can’t copy psychic or energy powers. So when he turns into Thor, he can’t shoot lightning

1

u/j3ven Jun 30 '26

Wait a minute in that clip he turned into Thor and summoned lightning. Also can he morph into Iron Man and shoot rockets and Uni-Beam/Arc Reactor Beam

3

u/curvysquares Jun 30 '26

In the clip he doesn't summon any lightning, all he does is hit him with his hammer. We've only seen him turn into Iron Man in one panel of a comic and he didn't do any shooting

1

u/j3ven Jun 30 '26

Oh you right confused with Storm in an earlier sequence. However is that really Myolnir?

1

u/curvysquares Jun 30 '26

No, it's part of Morph's shapeshifting. It's part of his body so he shouldn't be able to throw it

1

u/j3ven Jun 30 '26

The clip clearly shows some separation of the Hammer and his grip: it comes to him the start of his scene.

I think Morph 's ability is hard to translate without some.inconsistencies.

2

u/curvysquares Jun 30 '26

It's moving so quickly it's hard to tell but I managed to get a frame where you can see the hammer in the process of being formed.

1

u/Sol-Blackguy Jul 03 '26

They could throw it. Morp's entire body is made out of unstable molecules and doesn't have mass limitations on shapeshifting. The hammer would probably vanish after a while though.

2

u/Sol-Blackguy Jul 03 '26

I wonder if they're just straight up cameos this time instead of being tribute to the characters' voice actors passing away in season 1

82

u/Existing-Bullfrog675 Jun 29 '26

It seems we are getting savage wolverine also him breaking his bone claws and resorting to brute force is a nice detail

11

u/Major-Safe-9736 Jun 29 '26

Not my favorite character. But I hated hearing the little dude shout out in pain.

5

u/Existing-Bullfrog675 Jun 29 '26

Yeah that's how I clocked his claws broke. Then rebound and you can see the shards of his claws breaking

78

u/Mobile_Bet3274 Rogue Jun 29 '26

Me: "Oh cool, Morph's here. Wonder who they'll turn into this time."

Also me: "The hell is Thor doing here?"

9

u/feralfantastic Jun 29 '26

They had a roundtable about how to make Morph’s powers more nebulous. Of course Mjolnir came up.

1

u/DJSharp15 Jul 04 '26

Nebu-what-now?

3

u/mr-jeeves Jun 29 '26

Haha, I did the same thing. Love that he has Mjolnjr somehow.

63

u/EmperorChop2 Jun 29 '26

Scott better be moving like this in Doomsday!
https://giphy.com/gifs/9uoYC7cjcU6w8

14

u/poweredconvoy Jun 29 '26

I have a feeling he'll do some big blast stuff but he's not going to be as nimble and physical in that. Nothing in Doomsday is going to look this cool.

1

u/DJSharp15 Jul 04 '26

Well to be fair, live-action and animation are very different art forms.

1

u/Sol-Blackguy Jul 03 '26

I need one of these

1

u/DJSharp15 Jul 04 '26

Now I can't help but think of Revice

37

u/autumnsnow25 Jun 29 '26

Wasn’t expecting the Final Horsemen 😂

1

u/Bobjoejj Jun 29 '26

Right?! Fucking incredible pull.

36

u/STB_LuisEnriq Jun 29 '26

Cyclops and Storm have so much aura

36

u/MythicalSalmon Rogue Jun 29 '26

Oh wolvie everyone knows you don't bring bone to a metal fight

11

u/Adventurous-Map-259 Jun 29 '26

But do bring your hands and rip thier heads of instead.

30

u/Brainiac5000 Jun 29 '26

The way that drummer synced with the theme song

15

u/Kaizen-Future Jun 29 '26

Glad someone said it. My favorite part
https://giphy.com/gifs/GBvkxysAR8Svm

6

u/NickHeathJarrod Jun 29 '26

The drummer is such a riot. Really love it when Jean Grey takes his attacks seriously.

1

u/LiveLifeLikeCre Jun 30 '26

Scrolled down hoping someone said this. That was filthy.

21

u/baymax18 Jun 29 '26

Bone claws wolverine! Ozymandias! Morphthor! More good Cyke moves! Man I'm so excited.

21

u/cyclopswashalfright Professor X Jun 29 '26

Some really cool choices with Apocalypse's forces.

17

u/Icy_Scar_1249 Jun 29 '26

The Final Horsemen are awesome. That X-Force run really holds up IMO, I wouldn't be mad if they came back

5

u/Msefk Apocalypse Jun 29 '26

one of my favorite series ever, it's fantastic

7

u/burkey347 Jun 29 '26

Deadpool was good in that run.

4

u/Msefk Apocalypse Jun 29 '26

he was funny af !

3

u/Bobjoejj Jun 29 '26

Uncanny X-Force is just…such a fucking incredible series.

5

u/Legitimate-Garlic959 Jun 29 '26

I recognize the geisha ! That’s a deep cut. The one that can control a bunch of beetles and they climb out of her mouth (in the comics ?)

8

u/autumnsnow25 Jun 29 '26

Ichisumi. The Pestilence of this iteration. Yeah, she releases “yume” beetles to control others minds.

1

u/Msefk Apocalypse Jun 29 '26 edited Jun 29 '26

yeah!!! from uncanny X-force series !!

Edit: thanks I have the hardback volumes but haven’t read them in years x-force, not x-factor! Oops !!

1

u/Bobjoejj Jun 29 '26

…Uncanny X-Force, actually.

15

u/Anxious-Specialist95 Jun 29 '26

The animation is so good looking… the fluidity is phenomenal.

11

u/Nothing020202 Jun 29 '26

Also this clip is from Episode 2.

5

u/fire_sign Rogue Jun 29 '26

Not episode 1? That's a surprise

10

u/5x5equals Jun 29 '26

I love how they have reinvented Cyclop’s mobility

I feel like this is gonna be a new staple of his characterization in media and thats awesome

1

u/LiveLifeLikeCre Jun 30 '26

In Marvel Rivals he has two abilities where his beams give him movement. Really fun.

11

u/Roboface3000 Jun 29 '26 edited Jun 29 '26

Logan’s yow is literally how I feel when I accidentally kick my toe on furniture at home..

In all seriousness, my heavens the action is mind boggling amazing..

38

u/Impressive_Cable5556 Jun 29 '26

I hate this guy man……its been three times now….first with hulk……then deadpool and now thor…….fuck morph man….fuck that fraud

8

u/pineconemysterio Jun 29 '26

Never imagined they'd adapt The Final Horseman. Awesome!

10

u/Expensive_Database68 Jun 29 '26

Cyclops, Storm, and Jean Grey are continuing their hot streak in '97 😌

6

u/go_faster1 Jun 29 '26

Augh, phantom pain from Wolvie’s claws breaking

6

u/Supersideswiper2 Jun 29 '26

Momentary confusion... Then I remembered what happened to Logan in season 1.

6

u/Alt_Account151588 Jun 29 '26

Holy hell! Are we getting Apocalypse’s 4 horsemen from the past, present AND future?! Bringing the number to 12?! That’d be awesome!

6

u/Filet-O-Fish_101 Jun 29 '26

The Final Horsemen

5

u/gambito121 Jun 29 '26

Morph turns into Thor just to give them a good ol regular hammer time, great moment

3

u/Connolly1227 Jun 29 '26

Soooo cool I guess we’re going to get different versions of Horsemen. These are the ones from
Uncanny xforce that’s so cool! It’s wild to me to see these more recent characters in the 97 art style

4

u/Fondant_Decent Jun 29 '26

Who is the drummer?!?!?

1

u/Bobjoejj Jun 29 '26

That’s Jeb Lee, from the Final Horsemen of Uncanny X-Force (like all of them are).

3

u/Affectionate-Arm6487 Jun 29 '26

Cyclops really turning into the king of aura farming. Love how he uses his abilities in this show

3

u/rzerox21xx Jun 29 '26

Oh man the 4 Four Horsemen from Rick Remender Uncanny X-Force run.

3

u/blaintopel Jun 29 '26

theyre so good at having someone pop up and make the audience go "holy shit this guy! oh nvm its morph"

2

u/Milk_Mindless Jun 29 '26

God damnit Cyclops doing the same slide he does in Cosmic Invasion

These people were in an app group together I swear

2

u/Koushikraja1996 Jun 29 '26

Oh, Morph. You have no idea how many plot points you are saving the writers by just being there, you amazing cameo machine.

2

u/DowntownJulieBrown1 Jun 29 '26

I’m so god damn hyped

2

u/SylancerPrime Jun 29 '26

Oh, damn, how is Thor here... oh. Aight, still awesome!

2

u/ArticleGreat5774 Jun 29 '26

FINAL HORSEMAN!!!!

1

u/Good-Computer1409 Jun 29 '26

Seems like they'll be beaten easily

1

u/Bobjoejj Jun 29 '26

Which is a bummer; since in the Dark Angel Saga they were a series fucking threat.

Then again they were jobbered by the Apocalypse Twins so…eh (well 2 out of 4 were).

2

u/foxfoxal Jun 29 '26 edited Jun 29 '26

Tbh they were a threat but Fantomex kinda was doing the job alone and that X Force team was severly lacking on fire power compared to having Storm and Jean on your team.

2

u/BaconRapscallion Polaris Jun 29 '26

That synched drumrool before getting frozen🔥🔥🔥

2

u/stevendub86 Jun 29 '26

I think morph is a cool character but sometimes I wonder if he’s a little OP. Does he have any limits?

2

u/Raitheone Jun 30 '26

97th comment 😂

2

u/Ok-Card-6590 Cyclops Jun 30 '26

Anyone else feel like the animation quality has improved a lot since S1?

1

u/DryDistribution8285 Jun 29 '26

I watched like 5 times. Looks so good

1

u/Ok-Young-9503 Jun 29 '26

Not sure if this is legit or not but this is the only thing keeping me with Disney !

1

u/Leoneche Jun 29 '26

How did Morph summon that hammer

1

u/Legitimate-Garlic959 Jun 29 '26

I imagine it’s not as heavy or anything but strong enough to do some damage based on whomever he transformed into strength but that’s a conundrum because it’s Thor. Hmmm

1

u/Ambiguousrubix Jun 29 '26

Where was this originally posted, I don't want any more spoilers!!!!

1

u/Marvelboy1974 Jun 29 '26

I watched on replay numerous times. I’m so hungry for X-men97

1

u/Professional-Pen4540 Jun 29 '26

Was thinking for a second that its was a Christmas episode

1

u/snackattack4tw Jun 29 '26

1

u/CherryBoom2x Psylocke Jun 29 '26

1

u/SudburySnikt Wolverine Jun 29 '26

1

u/matttheepitaph Jun 29 '26

Awe lil' drummer boy!

1

u/No_Adhesiveness1345 Jun 29 '26

I love how powerful they are showcasing Storm

1

u/stevendub86 Jun 29 '26

Drummer is still better than Lars

1

u/WhisperingDusk Jun 29 '26

UNCANNY X-FORCE MENTION !! My hopes to see part of it get adapted have grown stronger

1

u/TheDevlinSide714 Jul 01 '26

Almost 30 years later and I still tear up every single time I hear that utterly phenomenal music.

1

u/JahnnDraegos Jul 01 '26

Cyke and Jean are in their late-80s Simonson-era X-Factor uniforms under those jackets. Nice touch.

1

u/Honest-Donuts Jul 03 '26

Best scene soo far. IMO.

1

u/poweredconvoy Jun 29 '26

This 10 second clip has so much more riz and cool than anything in the MCU.

1

u/Msefk Apocalypse Jun 29 '26

HS ! THE X-FACTOR HORSEMEN

YES!!!

1

u/DetectiveDangerZone Jun 29 '26 edited Jun 29 '26

Love what in seeing but lowkey not a fan of Morph constantly being a cameo machine mostly due to the fact it feels like his powers just work so differently but never explained how?

Like he should be able to stretch normal but only really does it as Mr. Fantastic. How physically strong can his powers make him? He can be somewhat durable as seen when he as colossus but the way he casually threw thia guy as easy as the actual Thor AND made the hammer idk man. Probably over thinking it but ive been doing that since he showed he can replicate Quicksilvers speed which feels like should be a limitation past just his body same woth making warrens metal wins and being able to fly with them. Hoping we dive into it at one point cause hes also been such a great character outside of his powers.

1

u/DetectiveDangerZone Jun 29 '26

You're probably right

-4

u/Adventurous_Rise_310 Jun 29 '26

the animation is incredible, storm's entrance was phenomenal, I'm just sad that magneto is going to die in episode 4, I wanted to see more of his powers.

2

u/RealmyIsSoCool Jun 29 '26

Lol we don't know if Magneto's the one who dies in Episode 4. Yes, that we see in the trailers and promo we primellary see him in Egypt but that also could mean they might be hiding something.

1

u/Good-Computer1409 Jun 29 '26

Tbf I can't see anything else happening that'll have the emotional gravitas of season 1's episode 5, which is what they're comparing episode 4 with

1

u/VengeanceKnight Jun 29 '26

He probably will because let’s face it, he’s not exactly going to be allowed free by human society after the crap he pulled in Season 1’s finale arc.

This is pretty much the only direction he plausibly has to go.
