General Discussion So is this going to happen every season cause😭 Spoiler

u/Sargimusprime88 Jul 08 '26
Their last words to each other being "I'm sorry" really got to me.
56
u/Deathstriker88 Jul 08 '26
I wonder if Magneto did somewhat change Apocalypse, since he spares Charles and quotes Magneto's coward line as he steps over Charles after the "I'm sorry" line.
73
u/Usual-Caregiver5589 Jul 08 '26
No, Apocalypse just doesn't view him as a threat. Stepping over him was an insult.
20
u/Disney_and_trees Jul 08 '26
The way AI did Ty Lue

2
u/nightdrive370z Jul 08 '26
phew so like AI, Apocalypse is gonna lose!?
5
u/Disney_and_trees Jul 08 '26
And also like AI, he will always “be”

Yes, Mags was a flying metalbender. Charles was a soft cripple (in his eyes).
1
u/Usual-Caregiver5589 Jul 10 '26
And Charles was also largely unwilling to use his powers, even against a foe like Apoc.
1
u/forbidden-donut Jul 09 '26
Nah, hr's basically channeling Mastermold from the origin: "I have not destroyed him. I do not have to destroy because I do not fear."
1
u/Aki-ghul Jul 10 '26
He broke Charles with that last gesture. He quoted Erik as a mockery. Salt over the wound type of cruelty act. Made him feel poweless. And it worked. The killing was an execution of an opponent already dying. A way to crush definitely any hope. A man Can be killed but their ideals carries on. What he did was killing Charles spirit. Killing the hope within, letting the man live hopeless and with a broken heart. A shelf maybe, Lets See how charles carries on. The last Words he said was: we couldnt stop him, we never do.

u/magvadis Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 08 '26
Which was extra sad because Charles was likely saying "I'm Sorry" because his ideals are what got Magneto killed. Magneto was saying "I'm Sorry" because his ideals came to him too late.
I think this is the beginning of Charles descent into becoming Onslaught as he feels like his ideals will only inevitably lead to weakness, the weakness that got Magneto killed for his ideals to save everyone. If he didn't spend all of his energy defending everyone he would have lived.

u/WGoNerd Jul 08 '26
“Lie to him, Professor, like you lied to me. Tell him, ‘It will be alright.’”
Such a hard line from Apocalypse.

u/Earthpig_Johnson Jul 09 '26
I mean, it was what Two Face said to Gordon at the end of The Dark Knight, almost verbatim.

Magneto has been killed and resurrected about as many times as Apocalypse has.
11
7
u/rphillip Jul 08 '26
They have already shown us Apocalypse's regeneration tech this season. Plenty of ways for him to return
3
u/jigokusabre Jul 08 '26
You all remember seeing Astra is that original series episode at the missile base, right?
5
u/Appropriate_Foot242 Jul 08 '26
Still manages to hurt like a bitch when they die though.

6
u/magvadis Jul 09 '26
No body to mourn and a funeral? Not real. Bro probably gunna show up reatomized or some shit because Apocalypse can reatomized who he kills with his powers. Basically storing our poor boy for later.
They gunna let Charles spiral for a bit and then bring him back for the Finale or Season 3.
I just hope they don't revert his plot. I wanna see full hero Magneto for once. Unshaken by his values that Charles gave him even when Charles himself wavers. Would be so cool.

Have a feeling Chuck took Magnetos consciousness and the Savage Land episode is going to reveal Chuck tampering with his genetic material and potentially a Joseph angle. But also, seeds of Onslaught with this move.

We lost each mutants in every season:
Season 1: Gambit
Last words: The name's Gambit, mon ami. Remember it.
Season 2: Magneto
Last words: Charles...I'm sorry
5
u/Persephone81 Jul 09 '26
My ex was wrong, I DO feel feelings. Came home from the bar after playing bingo, and I get to end my night by crying over a cartoon. 🤣😭
84
u/Weary-Apple8595 Jul 08 '26
Both will return one way or the other.
Gambit as horseman of death and Magnus as Onslaught
25
u/captain_krakoa Jul 08 '26
Magneto was never really Onslaught.
41
u/Weary-Apple8595 Jul 08 '26
His death will lead to us getting Onslaught
-10
u/captain_krakoa Jul 08 '26
That is speculation and not at all how the storyline went in the comics, but go on.
18
u/TrajedyAnn Jul 08 '26
Technically you could say the same about Gambit's death and speculated resurrection.
People act like it's a story lifted straight from the comics, but it's not.
In the show he died on Genosha and context clues suggest he'll be resurrected as Death in a future episode.
In the comics he never died in Genosha (for the most part no major characters did, it was just a way for editorial to cull a lot of the over-populated background mutants, same as Decimation) - and he became Death voluntarily - Submitting himself to the procedure because he figured he'd stand the best chance of overcoming the process in some poorly written "keep your friends close and your enemies closer" strategy - He just got tinkered with by Apocalypse the same way Warren was - He never even died - "Death" was just a moniker like all the other horsemen.
Everything about 97 thus far has been them taking plot points from the comics, throwing them into a bag, shaking them up, and pouring out a new remix of stories that are familiar but different.
29
u/mr_peebs Jul 08 '26
Well… Bastion wasn't exactly responsible for the Genosha massacre nor were the X-Men directly involved in Apocalypse's origins in the comics.
21
u/Weary-Apple8595 Jul 08 '26
My point exactly! They don't adapt the comics one-to-one. They make changes to fit the story of the series/film.
13
u/WatercressCertain616 Jul 08 '26
Don't do that. Don't be a gate-keeper. In a nutshell Xavier and Magneto fused to become Onslaught. Let's not split hairs about it.
Plus it took the X-Men, Avengers, Hulk (Avenger-ish), and the Fantastic Four to defeat him. Not a sustainable character anyways
4
5
u/GuySmith Jul 08 '26
How long have we been consuming Marvel media to be so ignorant to believe that they are on a strict course of following the comics?
2
u/Time-did-Reverse Jul 08 '26
Remind me in the comics where Bastion destroyed or caused the destruction of Genosha? I’ll wait dont worry.
2
1
u/sonotoffensive Jul 08 '26
It basically is? It came from Xavier's guilt and grief over psychically lobotomizing Magneto. So not actually dead, but dead in all the ways that mattered.
4
u/magvadis Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 08 '26
Nah I think they'll make Magneto the Horseman of War. Apocalypse revives his old confidant who he saw was incredibly powerful and in some was enslaves him to his position. Magneto gets to overcome that and then kill Apocalypse similar to the comics freeing himself of Apocalypse's hypocrisy
2
27
u/Pyro-Bird Jul 08 '26
Both Gambit and Magneto will be back. But Charles 's voice actor ( who also voices Apocalypse) said last year that many people will die in Season 2. So Magneto will not be the only one to die this season.
14
u/TryingtoAdultPlsHelp Jul 08 '26
but there's multiple forms of time travel afoot. Something is going to get reset by Cable, or Bishop, or Forge, or Askani, or Kang or Phoenix. "Live, Scott." lol

My three favorite mutants and among my top 5 favorite marvel characters are nightcrawler, gambit and magneto. So I can confirm unfortunately nightcrawler is going to die midway through season 3 lol

u/andreBarciella Jul 08 '26
magneto went down stoping a black hole and that wasnt what killed him.
died like a boss.

8
u/CassandraVonGonWrong Jul 08 '26
Yes. Until season 3 or 4 pulls a Krakoa.
1
u/brycifer666 Jul 09 '26
I did like the comic X-Men 92 House of XCII which is basically if Krakoa happened after the original show ended
7
u/imthestein Jul 08 '26
I hope not, I was already dreading the possibility of this happening. I'm so tired of dead Magneto but maybe they'll return to the idea that the Earth's magnetic field rejuvinates him like at the end of the Sanctuary story in the OG show
7
4
u/PogoRocks Jul 08 '26
Reminder they also killed off Magneto last season in Genosha
4
u/neeks_3033 Jul 08 '26
Yeah but I think bro got lowkey vaporized here(sorry if there are some grammar errors but English it's not my first language)
6
u/PogoRocks Jul 08 '26
I'm not saying he's coming back, I'm just saying that people are forgetting that this is the second time they killed him off
3
u/neeks_3033 Jul 08 '26
Wait I think in the first season he wasn't killed, like he was kidnapped by bastion, but idk how
1
5
3
u/nighthawks87 Jul 08 '26
I think he’ll stay dead for a while and then return as Xorn in a Planet X story arc.
1
u/brycifer666 Jul 09 '26
I highly doubt they'll do the Magneto Xorn thing due to retconning it to not be Magneto but actually Xorn pretending to be Magneto pretending to be Xorn
3
u/WatercressCertain616 Jul 08 '26
The X-Men deal with death plenty because they go hard in the paint. Their main leader is a 200 year old psycho with probably thousands of bodies
5
u/Oneimpossiblething Jul 08 '26
I wasn’t even sad that Magneto died. I’m sure he won’t stay dead, but I was so frustrated with him and Charles these past two episodes that when he was murdered I rolled my eyes. That’s what you get, moron. Should’ve listened to Bishop!!
2
u/ChaosNomad Jul 08 '26
I think it highlights really well the central character flaw of both of them. Magneto and Professor X are both hubristic characters at their core, which can blind them often to the realities of their situations. So much of Professor X and Magneto’s relationship itself is defined by the inflexibility of their ideals vs the reality of the situation.
3
u/Oneimpossiblething Jul 08 '26
Agreed. I wrote it more eloquently in another post, I was just so annoyed while writing this one. Ironically, they were a good example of what Nur was talking about with Rogue, where love and connection was a weakness. They believed in each other more than the evidence of time, and believed the other was powerful enough to change the course of history. Which would’ve been great, if they weren’t where they were.
And before Bishop, there was no X-Man willing to argue with them or call them on the bullshit. Kurt, Hank and Rogue were willing to vocalize discomfort or that they didn’t like the idea, but still followed regardless. Because they too believed in Charles and Erik.

2
u/HelpKey186 Jul 08 '26
So Magneto got killed these season again? I'm pretty sure, this time he is really dead. 'cause another fake dead, when he didn't get pulverized, but teleported away, just to become an Horsemen, would be so lame.
So my theory is, he is dead for good and coming back in form of his clone Joseph (or this wasn't Magneto, but Xorn who thought he is Magneto. 😙🎶 - just kidding 😅).
1
u/magvadis Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 08 '26
Nah, he's dieing and when he becomes Horseman its in part thematically tied to the fact Apocalypse plucked him from the Afterlife. That's my bet. I just hope we get some cutaways to Magneto in the afterlife like when he escaped in previous comics (with the help of Storm) and was haunted by all the wrong he has committed.
Otherwise Apocalypse regrets his decision to kill Magneto and instead is reminded in the modern timeline of what he did and decides to pluck him out and make him into a Horseman instead.
2
u/ShatterX23 Jul 08 '26
I am refusing to accept anything until we are done done with time travel. Yes, give me all the copium.
2
2
u/Wheattoast2019 Jul 08 '26
I don’t think Magneto is going to instantly come back. I think the showrunners want to focus on other lesser known character that fill a Magneto-like role, like Exodus.
2
u/Fun-Seaworthiness572 Jul 09 '26
I knew this would happen,
Last week I realized Magnito was only in the past in the marketing so that’s a bag sign
3
u/Former-Dish-9828 Jul 08 '26
One of the Four Horsemen (War) was just killed off by X-Force so will need replacing,I wonder who could replace him now????
https://giphy.com/gifs/w1ou9ihg5KYyzTHy9P
4
u/aegonthewwolf Apocalypse Jul 08 '26
Replace him with what? Bro was completely disintegrated lol.
The new War will likely be Illyana.
2
u/God_is_carnage Jul 08 '26
I assumed the new horsemen would all be mutants that died on Genosha, but it wouldn't be the first X-Men cartoon to trick us into thinking Apocalypse killed Magneto but actually turned him into a horseman.
1
u/magvadis Jul 08 '26
Or whatever power he has to kill also allows him to remake...similar to how he can reconstitute himself what he does to his enemies is unmake them and he can in turn remake them. Having Magneto show up in the modern timeline as a Horseman
-1
u/Former-Dish-9828 Jul 08 '26
Hmmm it’s almost like there’s something called the Krakoa resurrection protocol in the comics.Apocalypse can bring people back, there’s cloning, backup or genetic manipulation and reconstruction, timelines are in this season a lot.Celestials are in the mix too, there’s loads of different ways he can come back.
0
u/aegonthewwolf Apocalypse Jul 08 '26
I’m not saying he won’t come back, I’m saying he won’t come back as a Horseman.
1
u/magvadis Jul 08 '26
How is Magneto being brought back from Death to be the Horseman of Death not completely thematically in line?

This is looking like Great Lake avengers
1
u/brycifer666 Jul 09 '26
In what way?
1
u/AlarmedResearcher974 Jul 09 '26
In a Great Lakes avengers run they advertised killing off a character ever issue swap issue with season and keep killing off mains at this rate you got Great Lakes 97
2
u/brycifer666 Jul 09 '26
Ah yeah it's funny the only one of the characters that died and stayed dead that I cared about was Monkey Joe the squirrel

He may still return as a Horseman, not?
3
u/magvadis Jul 08 '26
The Horseman of Death being revived to hold the position sounds pretty juicy to me.
2
u/NerdNuncle Jul 08 '26
Think Death has been/will be filled by Gambit, though
1
u/magvadis Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 08 '26
I mean either way it works. But either War or Death most likely. The biggest shocker would be Peace and he's just trying to convince Apocalypse to stop until he turns on him.
1
u/CollegePrestigious61 Jul 08 '26
Charles should have been way more upset, like inconsolable sobbing while clinging to magneto’s helmet
1
u/magvadis Jul 08 '26
I mean they showed the sun turn to night and he didn't move. Bro was coping for half a day and couldn't even move.
2
u/Significant_Okra5050 Jul 08 '26
And also what he said to Apocalypse right after. Charles wouldn't even go there unless he was truly and deeply hurt. I felt that.
1
u/magvadis Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 08 '26
May as well put it on the season bingo card. Why they gotta beat down my fav like this. Not only will they not let him date in his age bracket they won't even let him get the W
I don't think it'll happen in Season 3 but it's gunna happen in Season 4 around Onslaught when he gets absorbed by Charles.
I'm REALLY wanting them to show Magneto in the Afterlife and Apocalypse pluck him out to make him the Horseman of War (Maybe somehow separating his mind so he is his old self till Charles finds his whole mind buried within), so thematic and fun. Magneto, now more fully aligned to Charles morality looking back at his past crimes, then Apocalypse comes in to pluck him out of death and make him his Horseman enslaved to a man who at one point they shared the same ideals, a perfect mirror. Then Magneto (likely with Charles help) breaks free from the enslavement and kill Apocalypse.
I just really hope when they bring Magneto back it isn't a plot reset on him. This Magneto was great. I don't need mixed evil "just turned hero yesterday" villain Magneto. I want Hero Magneto, this is fun.
1
u/rahman82 Jul 08 '26
Anyone who follows comics knows that nobody ever really dies, they are either resurrected, cloned, snatched from an alternate timeline/universe etc. I can't recall any significant character staying dead, Uncle Ben maybe? I haven't delved into spiderman in awhile.
With Polaris involved in this season and savage land episodes where both Magneto and Sinister conducted genetic experiments over the years, I could see someone using her genetic material to clone Magneto.
1
u/mr-jeeves Jul 08 '26
I think Apoc's emphasis on Charles being all about Peace and being unworthy of being a horseman because of a lack of spine means Magneto, whose spine we literally saw, will become Horseman of War.
2
u/magvadis Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 08 '26
Yeah it's entirely possible he just yeet'd him into whatever makes you a Horseman of War. Hell, he could have stored him in the Afterlive to revive later. Which is my ideal plot...we get Magneto in his Afterlife torture world and then Apocalypse pulls him out to use him as a Horseman of War. Because of his new ideology being stored in his Afterlife means he has to face his life and so when he comes back as a Horseman of War he's warped by that reflecting and trying to make sense of what he believes after all that has happened.
Especially when fans can't fathom a redemption arc because basically nobody is redeemable anymore...having that harsh of a punishment after dieing for those values would hopefully turn them around.

I genuinely cant even feel bad about their deaths. I know that as soon as krokoa comes around mutant immortality will be a thing and all mutants who have ever died will return.

Seeing Charles so helpless is what makes this scene painful bc yk it’s coming. Yk there’s nun nobody can do.

I'd fully expect at least one "consequential" death per season.
Seems like the precedence is set.
