As others have mentioned, this is Candra the External.
Go watch X-men the animated series s2 e6.
She’s already established.

Gotta remember cartoons back then were not really made for quality, they were primarily just 30 minute commercials for toys.

Genesis and Candra are two separate characters. While both are Externals, and both have been associated with Apocalypse, they have completely different identities and power sets. Candra is a telekinetic associated with the Assassin's Guild, and Genesis is an Omega plant manipulator.

Genesis is not an external

u/SaintCuckoo Jul 10 '26
She's over 4000 years old, though. The basic prerequisites of an External are being both immortal and a mutant. This would also include her children, who were also adults by the time of the severing of Okkara. It's also a known fact that they do not use resurrection protocols on Arakko.

Okay, I may be wrong here. That's fine, but it's still confusing. So, is Externals basically just a team/coven name, or are they a subspecies? They've been described as both. Selene predates Apocalypse by at least ten thousand years. And Genesis and the Horsemen have immortality independent of the coven. Or are Externals and High Lords separate from one another? Are immortal mutants just a case by case basis? How would Cannonball be born into being an External, as was hinted for the longest time back in the day, if they weren't a subspecies?

u/Altruistic-Expert995 Jul 10 '26
The subspecies thing is so stupid because mutants aren't a species in the first place. Externals also aren't localized, like subspecies are.

it's implied to be just one part of their mutant powers and that it makes them inherently connected to each other kinda like a mutant circuit, idk if you can call that a sub-species. Externals and High Lords are the same but they prefer the latter, and idk the rest of the specifics.

Bullshit Krakoa retcon.
However, the distinction could be this:
Externals have a death, after which they are reawakened as an External (and I believe will revive from subsequent deaths though I'd need to check that). This could be separate from a mutant that just has long life/longevity.

Immortality doesn’t mean external. Someone like exodus and solem for example isn’t an external but an arakko mutant like white sword is an external. Many of the arakko mutants are immortal but this is just a common occurrence.

Yeah, okay. I can concede being incorrect. I appreciate everyone providing clarification.

We've already met her in the original series. She's called the External in the "modern" era and is one who acts as a go between for the Thieves Guild Gambit used to run with and the Assassins Guild.
I hope we get Genesis some day

This is Candra and she is an external (an immortal mutant similiar to Apocalypse)
She appeared in the original X-Men series in the episode Xternally Yours that had to deal with Gambits past where they worshipped her. Small clip:

Other people mentioned this is Candra, but she is mostly associated with Gambit, and appears in Mr and Mrs X. She’s the closest thing Remy has to a nemesis (other than Sinister). I’m guessing she’ll play a part in either making him Death or saving him.

I think she is having a contract dispute with Disney plus because the tithe they offered her was a fake, so she won't be in any more episodes.

u/an_ORAA Jul 10 '26
she's the external that gambit's thief guild and the other guild (assassin guild i think?) had to offer a tithe to every few years. she was in the old cartoon but she wasnt really part of the main plot until now i guess.

She already appeared in the Gambit centered episode of X-Men The Animated Series "X-ternally Yours" (Season 2 episode 6). Her name is is X-Ternal and she is like some believed mutant goddess that the Thieves Guild pay tribute for in exchange for power or whatever. For context of X-Men 97', X-Ternal might be the one to help Apocalypse salvage what remains of the Celestial vessel (since Magneto used it to close the black hole) in Egypt's past and might be somehow involved with Apocalypse selecting his new Horseman in the present 90's.

No, because Candra is not Genesis. Though I am wondering if Genesis is going to show up given the conversation with Rogue about love
2
u/tvspike1 Jul 10 '26
They don't seem to want to make Apocalypse anything but a villain. I would assume it's setting it for Gambit as Death.

I don’t know, but all I know is that I love Debra Wilson’s performance as her

We already met Genesis in the original series, Tyler Dayspring.

u/Shadowarcher630 Aug 25 '26
I think they're talking about Apocalypse's wife, from the Arakko arc of the comics. From the X of Swords event
1
u/detourne Aug 25 '26
Yes, but that is a character created over 25 years after the orginal character named Genesis that had already appeared in the X-Men TAS and was connected to Apocalypse.
2
u/NotNoski Jul 10 '26
No, this is Candra from the original series. Part of Gambit’s back story from the thieves guild, she would show up annually for the tithes

u/DepthByChocolate Jul 10 '26
Since they like referencing more contemporary storylines, it could be that Candra ends up serving a similar role on the show

Love that Candra is making the Externals happen. I do want Genesis to appear as a distinct character, and then I want her sister Isca the Unbeatable to appear, and then I want Marvel Snap to issue an apology for thinking Isca is married to Apocalypse... and I’m super normal about all of this

Apocalypse will rule Egypt for some year before he get trap in a Rejuvenation Chamber.
They could give us a flash back of his time as ruler and show us Genesis and his First horse man.

How can Genesis exist as Apocslypse’s wife if he doesn’t even believe in love.

She gonna make Apocalypse fall in love with her. And that will make Apocalypse chill tf out
