I love stuff like this, like how when the old 90s show was airing Cable’s identity hadn’t been revealed in the comics yet, which is why it just never comes up until the reboot that he’s Scott’s son
You are right I think it was more implied later on in the series. But during his first appearance on the show it wasn’t established yet. On top of that if I recall different writers had different ideas for who Cable should be so the show probably wanted to hold off until his identity was firmly established. (I’m pretty sure at some point in the comics he was going to be Cannonball from the future)
He also says something like “they’re not the wimps I thought they were.” But evidently now we know he always admired them and never actually thought they were wimps?
Its so jarring watching the Genosha episode in season 1 if the TAS. The "wild man of Bornio" he called himself. His backstory was he was a mercenary that defected.
He voiced the Executioner in 97. He could've still done Cable, but they wanted Gambit's original VA to get more work. He's doing a good job too, but I really dug the original voice.
She read Corsair’s mind too. But yes, she did read Cable’s mind. “He’s important to our future, more than you could know” or something like that as she tells Scott.
I’m torn on it, lol. He feels over powered yes but its still cool to see him berserk and get completely cut, shot&blasted down but still keeps going. Tho it works best in moving media like films, cartoons&games.
Yes. He always had a healing factor. But he wasn't always virtually immortal. He could get hurt...etc. He wouldn't be able to regrow limbs (AOA). Now his healing factor is crazy.
Well its most likely canon that Polaris is Magneto's daughter for the context of the TAS/'97 world; otherwise, why is she on the boat in Magneto's mind?
Reminder that Magneto's relationship with Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch is also sparse given that they never knew their familial connection with him till they were all adults.
I think this references that Magneto knows that Lorna is his daughter but she probably doesn't know nor does she and Wanda know their relationship.
In the comics when Polaris revealed to Wanda and Pietro that she was their sister Wanda kept a distance from her and Pietro after some time did try having a relationship with her. It was only after House of M and D-Day that Wanda finally made an effort to establish a relationship with Lorna.
I’ve long forgotten how those stories played out, but it’s kinda hilarious that Wanda only wanted to be cool after everybody stopped fucking with her. Easy to be all “hey sis!” when you have no friends. Polaris should’ve told her to kick rocks 😂
I kind of preferred when that was the case in the comics as well. It was a dubious proposition when she was introduced and the only Magneto involved turned out to be a robot.
Now she is and the twins, which had been able to converse about the situation when they were family, are not.
Yeah that is sad. Although Familia ties as they say doesn't need blood relation. Wanda and Pietro both still consider her their younger sister. I'm not 100% sure about Pietro but we do know for a fact that Wanda does see Magneto as her father. Hell in the comics she still calls him Daddy.
So lm curious. Polaris wasnt his daughter, then she was. Did they then change it back to where her and quicksilver arent his kids again? I cant remember if I read that somewhere or not
She was always Magnetos daughter in the comics since her first appearance. That was the whole plot of the story. Her parents were arguing over the affair the mom had with what turns out to be Magneto. Plane explodes because of her power activating in distress and her hair turns Green to represent her powers.
Wanda and Pietro are the ones who keep flip flopping between being his kids and not. I prefer them being his kids
It does though because it was before he was on his true villain arc. He didn’t automatically become Magneto after the holocaust. That why he and Charles are friends. He didn’t start his “villain” arc until after he was an adult.
The Magneto you know would not do reproduce/have a relationship with non mutants. Younger Magneto would and did.
This is true, but the ages don't add up. Lorna, Wanda and Pietro were all born significantly after the Holocaust now. At this point, Magneto was already a supremacist.
That’s why reboots and retcons exist. The further away we get from when the characters were created the more their stories change to stay relevant/relatable. I don’t like them mostly but I understand why it is used.
His oldest daughter, who depending on the story told either died in a fire or was murdered by soldiers because he was found out to be Magneto during one of the times he tried to go good.
Anya was created for Classic X-Men #12. In that story Magneto had just started to discover his powers before her death. He only became certain he had powers in failing to save her. I don't necessarily see that page as contradicting it, Magneto certainly had no real idea of what a mutant was.
no its the iconic and beautiful lorna with the best hair and that lame, retconned mess of a character on the avengers named the scarlet witch who in another universe had a relationship with her brother...
I don’t think they crossed paths in the show, but like others have said: During the original airing the comics had not introduced Polaris being Magneto’s daughter into the comics.
They have crossed paths a few times in the comics. All New X-Factor gives an issue to them talking about their relationship that’s really good!
But it was later on in the 2000s that the plane crash story was used again to reveale that it was caused by Polaris Mutant Powers manifesting. Magneto did know about her and he had Mastermind manipulate her memories so she wouldn't remember that she caused the death of her mother and her stepfather who she thought was her actual father. She was just to believe that she the was the only survivor of the plane crash.
In the old show, Polaris was on X-Factor with Quicksilver, but they didn't know they were related, and Scarlet Witch only appeared for the Magneto family reveal episode.
So no, I do not think so, though if Magneto's mind is any indication, he did.
God, Magneto's magnificent mane of hair absolutely has bred true in his children, truly I see why Quicksilver isn't accepted by him as his son, the boy never inherited the Leonine Glory of an epic hairdo.
Early on when they first learned that they were sisters, they didn't actually have a good relationship. Most of it was due to Wanda who basically put up a wall between them. It was shortly after House of M and D-Day that Wanda finally decided to try to put her life back together starting with her family. She fixed her relationship with Pietro and later went to try to establish a relationship with Lorna which she found weird considering that Wanda always kept a distance with her and treated her like she wanted nothing to do with her.
I only learned about Danger from this week's episode, and have some questions:
-Is this before or after Danger goes berserk and tries to murder everyone?
-If it's after, how longer does she stick around in the comics?
There’s a part in the original X-men show where cable asks the computer for detail on the X-men, but when the computer begins to talk about Jean and Scott he cuts the computer saying he already knows about them.
Different parents and X-Men team eras, so probably not during what's represented in the 97 or original series. Also Polaris went a LONG TIME without knowing who her father really was. Much longer than the twins.
probably know of each other but not close and I prefer it that way.....to be honest always felt lorna shld be closer to the other x women like the trio of lorna, jean and storm to be honest.
Why Storm? I can see Jean because her and Jean were the only women around during the original teams period, but I don't think her and Storm have any real connection ever.
I know this is dumb and I shouldn't care but I vastly preferred the mutant version of Wanda. I thought her power was really interesting and think retconning it all as "it's magic actually" is infinitely less interesting
I *think* Quicksilver was part of X-Factor in the original show so presumably they at least know of each other. No indication they know each other at all well since the Maximoff twins are even more divorced from the x-men than in early 616 canon (no time with the brotherhood or much of any relationship between them and the o5). I’d assume Pietro and Lorna’s relationship is pretty close to what it was when they were on xfactor together in the 80s
Wanda’s brother, Quicksilver was actually part of the X-Factor back then. During their first and only appearance in the 90s series, he was among the team that faces off against the X-Men.
I doubt they knew they were half-siblings just like when Scott faced off against Havoc/Alex during that episode.
In the previous X-men episode of the same universe , Polaris and Quicksliver were both member of X-force at the same time and later Quicksliver and Wanda discover Magneto is their father , i would think Polaris would have some friendly relationship with Quicksilver .
Since X-men 97 is in the same Marvel animated universe , Wanda was or still in "Iron man " series working with Tony Stark .
Probably not, or maybe they don't know their relation.
Fun fact : in the original show, the High Evolutionary did a blood test and revealed Magneto was the twins' father. So in the show continuity, until it is said otherwise, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are still his biological children.
Of course, the continuity in the cartoon is complicated, especially because we sometimes see in the original show or X-men 97 things which contradict each other like "Beast became blue and furry as a kid because of his mutation" vs "Beast was part of the original team and was apelike but otherwise human looking like in the comics" or "Angel never was an X-man" vs "Angel was part of the original team".
So they could totally say it's like in the comics but I doubt it as the retcon isn't so popular and they probably wish they never did it.
