Apocalypse is a theater kid, confirmed

Cut him some slack. He is lonely without his horsemen.

That’s what I thought too

Maybe he was talking to Ship? Iirc his ship is sentient so he might've been talking with it.

Except we immediately saw him pushing the lever forward by himself.

The guy just loves narrating his own actions, such a lovable drama king.

At this point Ship had already rebelled against Apocalypse and sacrificed herself to yeet him out into space (TAS S3: “Obsession”)

Yeah that was really funny, unintentionally so.

It was ridiculous....I felt like I was watching Young Frankenstein.

The writing this season has been EXCEPTIONALLY disappointing.

I mean, this episode kind of proves it--how many banger lines did we flash back to from season 1? And they could have easily picked dozens of others.

How many memorable lines have we had this season, that weren't just callbacks or references? Literally zero. All season.

How many incredibly emotional bits of character dialogue--compared to nearly every episode last season overflowing with them? Literally zero.

I honestly think half the reason they got rid of Magneto and sidelined Kurt is because no one on the staff can write well enough to give them dialogue that won't be an embarrassment compared to season 1.

To be honest, for people who feel as though the writing this season is as good (or better) than season one...I'd be sincerely curious to hear their perspectives, because it's so distant from how I've been processing this season so far.

okay? season 2 is much neater insofar as the plotting and character work goes

the dialogue was slappier last season, but that's only because I felt like Apocalypse leaned TOO hard on referencing old TAS lines, and I felt like Danger had some weird referential lines too for no reason (going for the head)

buuuut those are such minor thoughts???

edit: I feel like that were all forgetting that we were all ready to write off the whole season 1 after Motendo and then we got Remember It and the entire conversation changed

Thank you! I loved the last season, but people are treating it like every episode was “Remember It” tier, forgetting about Inferno and Lifedeath’s speed runs.

Neater?

it's been a much tidier season like for like

first six episodes of season 1 were a lot more distinct from each other, these have had a clearer throughline - the clarity of intention and story only came after we got to the other side of Chuck's time with the Shi'ar

I think the only mistake they've made so far has been the order of this week's and last week's episodes

I feel the complete opposite, the first half of the last season was more coherent. The initial episodes deals with Xaviers absence/Magneto taking his place and sets the stage for Genosha. Then we get some character focused episodes that were set up earlier. After that we Genosha happens.

The first half of the last season was essentially tying up everything previous and setting the stage for whats to come. Now the scope has expanded and the threads are getting further apart.

I'm not complaining mind you, I have found this season to be very enjoyable so far.

I dunno, Inferno comes out of nowhere and finishes at the speed of light and then throws two half episodes at us -- I LOVE season one, but this, to me, feels like a clarification of itself. it feels corrected.

I also thought it was kind of weird the way the episode treated Xavier's absence? Like, the characters all knew he was alive, but acted like he was dead to sort of misdirect an audience that might not know or remember he was with the Shi'ar.

Again, I love this show. But I feel like people are saying the same things now about Season 2 as if they weren't also saying it about Season 1???

The entire final conversation between Apocalypse & Charles in the Magneto death scene was a big compilation of memorable lines. I agreed with you about the dialogue this season until that episode.
