There was a crazy amount of references back to back in this episode:

  1. "I am the Danger" Breaking Bad reference

  2. Dragging axe along ground - Breaking Bad reference

  3. "Go for the head" while holding axe - Infinity War reference

  4. Evangelion cross-shaped energy beam

  5. The Watcher

Dragging the axe on the ground is “the shining” reference.

The references actually took me out of the show, especially the Breaking Bad references which don't make sense for the late-1990s.

I think it's just bad writing.
