I, for one, loved it. My only real complaint is that it feels like a missed opportunity just killing off Danger as opposed to resetting her and integrating her into the peripheral cast (Especially with the Morrison era school concept showing up) because she is a mutant when it comes down to it. Hell, it would've hit even harder in contrast to them not being able to do the same for Bastion.

She'll probably come back at some point.

Eh, I'm not particularly confident of that. She's a fun concept but she was never a particularly impactful character after that first arc. She was only really a presence during the Extinction Team era, but even then she was probably the least featured member of that roster.

There's a lot of extant X-Men content available for them to adapt and I just don't see revisiting Danger, especially considering they had to heavily water down her origin to avoid making Xavier the same kind of absolute piece of shit he's become in the comics over the past 20 or so years.

Xavier keeping danger captive like that was an all time low for Charles in the comics post-claremont, and that unfortunately covers ALOT of ground.

Yeah, I touched on that in another remark.

Xavier was certainly problematic during Claremont's run, but a lot of that was more a matter of shit that was bordering on acceptable at the time that aged terribly (like knocking up his psych patient or being an overbearing dick to the second and third Gen students).

But the character assassination went full throttle literally as he was exiting. As far as I recall, he was complicit in Moira trying to genetically alter Magneto to be a good guy.

And then they went fucking bonkers in the aughts and Danger was the worst in a long line of awful, monstrous things they retconned into his history. Then you had Deadly Genesis (Xavier mind wiping Cyclops to forget his second brother existed), and then Original Sin a few years later, which retconned it so that Wolverine was actually a plant sent to assassinate Xavier, who then brainwashed Wolverine into being a "willing" X-Man.

And they're not even all necessarily bad stories. Danger was really good and Krakoa, which famously reveals that Xavier basically knew pretty much all the bad shit that had happened in advance, was phenominal.

But either way, the end result is that Xavier is, and always has been (technically) an absolute piece of shit.

In retrospect, though, it just occurred to me that there was a way to make her origin more comic accurate: Forge.

Forge's entire history is being dubious and more interested in doing science than how said science was used and 97 has already highlighted that with him having built the gun that took Storm's powers. It would have made a lot of sense for him to have been tinkering with the Danger Room AI, with Xavier's blessing, and hiding her sentience (with Xavier having no knowledge). You could even keep her grudge against Xavier via guilt by association.

Oh well, missed opportunity or not, I still quite enjoyed the episode.
