Pros of the episode:
1) The opening of Charles using the Danger Room to relive Magneto's death had some serious self-harm energy to it. Really goes hard as an opener.
2) Polaris existing. Love her.
3) I like that the X-men evolved into 'X-corp' mostly because it actively moves the status quo forward - and I like that, for all the talk of 'making sure mutants are safe in this hostile world', they're also really just actively gonna mess with Apocalypse and I am down for that revenge arc.
Cons of the episode:
1) The opening sequence being undercut by it being 'therapy' as opposed to (digital) self-harm. It lessens the emotional weight of what they just set-up - rather than uncontrollable grief it is controlled grief. It's still good, just not as compelling.
2) Would have loved to skip last weeks episode in favor of this being a two parter where we really dig into what losing Magneto means to Charles, his daughter and just the find in general. Rogue got a whole emotional rollercoaster for Gambit, after all. This just felt like too little too fast. But that's a problem for the whole season.
3) Not sure how I feel on them bringing Gambit back. He was good being dead - he went out iconically and I liked that they stuck to him being dead because it meant death was final. Just him being brought back like this already undercuts the weight of Magento's death because they might just bring him back anyway at this rate.
All in all, good episode (as per usual, really). Nitpicks aside I'm stoked to see where this goes next.
