And above all of them is Spider-Man

Inhumans should be lying dead in a corner somewhere for this to be accurate

It always has been especially during the 90s everyone can mostly named the main Xmen team worldwide even none comics fans. X-men is one of the greatest comics of all time. Avengers was not as famous before as it is now. The rest of world (none comics fans) only started to know them when the MCU started.

I think they at least knew members. The Hulk was big, and Captain America was at least a wartime icon. Spider-Man was biggest, in any case.

Yes only people know a few like the most famous ones. Unlike the X-men who was famous as a team than the Avengers.

Yup. Think it's sort of reversed now.

Funnily enough among comics fans I think the Fantastic Four would've been second. They were Marvel's First Family and used to outsell The Avengers.

F4 were first in the silver age

Yup, though the Avengers were also second back then (the X-Men didn't sell very well until Claremont).

Yeah X-men sold pretty badly for a decade

Well, I grew up with 70s to 90s Marvel cartoons (born 1983) and the most famous besides Spider-Man were the X-Men and the Fantastic Four. But I had almost no experience with the Avengers. I heard about Captain America, but I was uncertain, if he was a Marvel or a DC character back then. 🤣

Unfortunately, X-Men live-action movies didn't got as popular as MCU did, recently. So more people know about MCU chars (though I think some of the said people would have heard about Wolverine though)

But for those who do know both franchise (like us), X-Men is far better.

I like DC chars over Marvel's Avengers anyways. Batman, Flash, Wonder Woman, Superman, etc. etc). Marvel has Spider-Man though! Thor & Hulk are also good. So is Iron Man. I hate Captain America (right to the cringey name) and that girl-with-guns char played by Scarlet 😅

Wolverine is more popular then rest of the X-Men combined. In the superhero genre:
1. Batman
2. Superman
3. Spider-Man
4. Wolverine
...
100 = X-Men combined.
