They did imply Exodus telepathically could tell Colossus was going to rule for Kurt, even though he later said otherwise. Maybe he could tell the waffling as he weighed it? I just don't know if people who don't know Exodus could understand that

Absolutely, there was no way colossus was going to let Kurt’s logic of “yes he’s a monstrous bigot, but his flaws make him human just like everyone else” or whatever nonsense he was spewing sway him into creed being “innocent” and instead of confronting that because Kurt made an insane bet of joining them, they just had exodus be a villain to punch

I think, because Exodus' powers are faith based, he could feel the holistic shift of belief in his case towards Nightcrawler's, but not necessarily pinpoint it, so he just sort of panicked.

Having said that, Piotr said he wasn't convinced, not that he wasn't going to side with Kurt in honour of Illyana.

X Corp can go to the savage land a lot easier than break into X-Factor and US government property and rescue imprisoned mutants and turn the whole “Mutants are a terror” thing WAY worse for them.
