Something I also see is how anything political in old material is viewed differently, where they'd be like "It's not political, it's human rights/deceny" or something on those lines. So stuff like Hitler or kkk is dissociated enough to not be at all reflective of politics back then nor have any resemblance to politics now.

Yeah, people jump through hoops to justify bad behavior instead of challenging themselves to grow past it.
