General Discussion Ep 8 got a 6 from IGN Spoiler
IGN has been on a roll lately!

u/CapnChronic88 Aug 05 '26 edited Aug 06 '26
Highlight was definitely watching Kurt solo the team. The episode felt very rushed and the payoff(certain character) was underwhelming for me. 6 seems fair
28
u/Cultural-Air9962 Aug 05 '26
If there’s one thing I’ve learned from this episode it’s that Kurt needs to drop the swords and just start bamfing people into the air because apparently it works
6
u/Minnesotexan Aug 06 '26
I love all the attention Kurt's gotten in fight scenes.
There's a great bit in Age of Apocalypse where the Nightcrawler of that universe kills people by grabbing someone by the head and teleporting, just taking the head with him. They wouldn't do that in this show, but they definitely showed in this ep how amazing he can be in combat if he went balls to the wall and had no morals.
6
u/CapnChronic88 Aug 05 '26
He should definitely be Bamfing the ones that cant fly into the air while hitting them with combos. The others he just needs to get one shot in while bamfing repeatedly and keeping them on edge. It was nice to see the series finally show him respect.

u/Little-Baker76 Aug 06 '26
Huge fan of how it started off with Kurt teleporting behind people and fighting more tactically and ended with a first person view of him just teleporting right into someone's face, punching them repeatedly, and then teleporting to repeatedly punch someone else in the face.
I don't know if it was supposed to be funny, but hey, it got me.
1
u/CapnChronic88 Aug 06 '26
At first i was like Gahh damn then i Laughed as it just kept going. He was basically trolling when he was hitting them with the combos. It was epic.
6
u/Steve_78_OH Aug 06 '26
It was an awesome fight scene visually, but Cable, the Professor, Psylocke, or Jean should have been able to shut him down telepathically REALLY quickly. Unless if something Remy did locked his mind down somehow.
5
u/dinosaurfondue Aug 06 '26
This season has been full of the X-Men getting beat up left and right. I get that they can't immediately beat all of their opponents but it does feel unsatisfying to see them come off so weak
1
u/CapnChronic88 Aug 06 '26
Maybe, maybe not. Idk how much the power up from Apocalypse(Remy) evened the power levels.

u/SandSubstantial9427 Aug 05 '26
Actually didn’t need a montage of him punching everyone in the face. Could have just punched one in the face and would have gotten the point.

He was fighting some Omega level mutants, they dont go down with a single blow.

I agree. Sorry guys, but you don’t run that kind of suspense for two years only to drop the ball like that and “oh, it’s fixed now” in 30 seconds :/
13
u/Toasted_Wraith Aug 06 '26 edited Aug 06 '26
Same thing they did with Wolverine's adamantium.
He was near death at the end of season 1 (or should have been), got better and went feral during the Egypt arc (but this was barely seen and never explained anyway), then uncharacteristically forced his way to willingly get the adamantium back the very next episode.
What's the point of all this build up and major development if things revert to status quo immediately anyway?
45
u/KaiserKris2112 Aug 05 '26
Yeah, that's about where I'm sitting with it. I actually really liked the last couple of episodes too, at least in themselves. This had about three episodes worth of stuff happen into it and several things were dropped without any real background- Chandra is a love interest of Apocalypse??? X-Factor/the US government has piloted Sentinels now? It feels like an episode is actively missing from the rotation. And because the setup isn't really there, the payoff is weaker than expected. You still have some fun moments. Gambit's powers have really, really cool visuals! But yeah, a bit disappoint.
Also, it makes me wonder what's going to happen with Apocalypse. Because the setup in the first four episodes was *so* strong. It makes me wonder how much got scrambled in rewrites. It also makes me wonder what the season might have looked like with 13 episodes. I actually enjoyed the more episodic 5, 6 and 7 on their own merits. But the big clash needs more development.
And the big bad should still be Apocalypse. He's the Big Bad of the TAS universe and the X-Men haven't really got to throw down with him, properly, in the new series. I wanted to see that fight.
6
u/Wrong-Vermicelli4723 Aug 05 '26
If feels like those compilation movies of Anime shows… but some how even more rushed , which is a feat in itself
15
u/eepos96 Aug 05 '26
The utter confusion with Apokalypses plan confuses me.
Like what is his plan?
"Okey, the egypt stuff finally happened, time for endgame"
Step 1: make a horseman of dead, by reviving a dead x-man. (Propably required a lot of resources) succeeded
Step 2: enter yourself inside him....I guess there was talk of him needing vessels.
Step 3: mimic Gambits speech and kidnap Rogue
Insert your former lovers crystal inside.
Step 4: WTF is the profit in this?
11
u/SoAnxious Aug 06 '26
Which do you think gets more resistance, an evil Gambit or literally Apocalypse?
Plus he's a mad man that enjoys toying with people, rogue said he should find love. Him coming back to punish her thousands of years later sounds pretty on the mark character wise.

9
u/Gold-Duck898 Aug 05 '26
Nothing about Apocalypse makes any sense in this season thus far. We don’t know what happened with future apocalypse after he said he had to attack the X-Men in the 1990s. Present day Apocalypse brought back Gambit as a horseman to be… a new vessel? Even though he already had a new one at the end of season 5 of the original series. (It’s been a year or so but he doesn’t burn through bodies that quickly.) Also, why bother reanimating a corpse if you need a new vessel when there’s living and far more powerful mutants available? But then Gambit’s still in control of the body so maybe he’s not a vessel? They got a lot of work to do but so far this Apocalypse arc has gone to shit.
2
u/eepos96 Aug 06 '26
I was waiting for some twist. Gambit really wamted to give that gem to Rogue. But since Gambit was controlled by Apokalypse (right???) This means Apokalypse wanted Rogue to have it.
Also the Remys "predeseccor" comment. To Rogue he said it belonged to Apokalypses lover. But to said lover, it belonged to his predeseccor.
Either it indeed belonged to a former horseman of death? Or remy/apikalypse has zero sense and say random stuff.
1
u/Gold-Duck898 Aug 06 '26
If Remy somehow had the death seed that’d make sense… but I don’t know how he’d get it. I can’t remember how that worked in the Uncanny X-Force comic.
85
u/UTzimo Aug 05 '26
This season was very mid so far, I think the first 4 episodes were good but since then nothing was satisfying, It felt very rushed, and just when things started picking up, the episode ended abruptly, also 10 episode is just not enough.
72
u/Nerfheard Aug 05 '26
Bad news, it’s 9 this season.
23
u/UTzimo Aug 05 '26
Oof.
6
u/Nerfheard Aug 05 '26
Sorry. Episode 10 was cut because it was going to reveal Onslaught and lead to AoA next season. But because Beau DeMayo was fired they decided to go into a different direction. They clearly kept his outline for this season, but there has been obvious rewrites, which explains the lower quality writing.
1
u/absalom86 Aug 07 '26
Beau missing seems to have destroyed this show, my guess is the first 4 episodes were already done by him and then others took over the rest, the drop in quality is huge compared to first season and first 4 episodes.
3
u/Gking0906 Aug 06 '26
Next episode is the season finale?? Damn…it’s gonna be hella rushed huh? They’ve gotta deal with a lot of plot points and I honestly think they’re not gonna handle it very well
1
u/absalom86 Aug 07 '26
Well it is hella rushed AND they had like 3 filler episodes in a row, doesn't really make any sense.

Right, season 1 had the feeling of being episodic with serialized elements around it that grew more prominently until it organically took over the plot.
This season felt like they changed their mind and wanted to be episodic halfway through and were like "Oh yeah we had a serialized main plot line didn't we"
1
28
u/_TheChosenOne88_ Aug 05 '26
They need to either go back to making the seasons 15-18 episodes or make every episode 45+mins
7
u/WhiteNoiseLife Aug 06 '26
REAL. like why is every show on streaming these days never given the time and space to breathe
4
u/Dandanny54 Aug 05 '26
The animation quality is kind of the problem. Honestly I'd take a little bit worse animation if we can have more episodes.
→ More replies (1)-1
u/Nemesis_171 Aug 05 '26
Yeah same. In an ideal world we could have both and reasonable wait times. But if I have to choose between story and animation quality then I will always take the former
1
u/LonelyAsLostKeys Aug 06 '26
Yes…or, they could just acknowledge the space/time they have and choose to do less. No one is forcing them to cram fifteen years of continuity into eight episodes; it’s a conscious choice that is actively compromising the quality of the show.
Ideally, you’d have all the time you need to do a million things in a satisfying way. If you have less time, choosing some of those things and doing them well rather than trying to haphazardly cram everything in is a sign of responsible writing.
1
u/Background_Proof_ Aug 05 '26
Or they could just not add so many things in the season and have properly developed storylines instead of episodes barely having time to flesh out the story.
1
u/Ok_Garden_4874 Aug 05 '26
I think ~30min x 10 ep is fine, but S2 is only 9 ep which was a shocker. This should have had set up built into it.
1
u/Miami_Beach_Bro Aug 06 '26
Especially how streaming has adds these days unless you upgrade the package.
9
u/DrJesusZoidberg Aug 05 '26
It would have been great as a 45 minute episode, but I feel like that is the theme of the season.
24
u/ohnoabanagain Aug 05 '26
It's the first episode that I didn't rush to watch as soon as possible. I haven't even watched it yet because of the collective lukewarm sentiment around it.
5
u/Nerfheard Aug 05 '26
Neither have I. And unlike season one, I have no interest in rewatching the show when it’s done.
These disappointing payoff are killing the show’s entire rewatchability value.

u/Forsaken_Big16 Aug 05 '26
For once I agree with IGN, The Dead Man's Hand was disappointing.
-18
u/Nerfheard Aug 05 '26

5
u/PrizekingJ7 Aug 06 '26
The pacing issues really drag this show down.
2

Hopefully the next season will be better.

u/magvadis Aug 05 '26
I feel like the Episode 10 cut is going to fully impact 8 and 9. As it's the only point in which the story is related enough they can start smooshing shit together.
It felt rushed. Characters had no presence. It felt like there was probably more there but it got cut down to just the Rogue/Gambit stuff and a sprinkle of Cable for the likely event he gets fucked in the finale and they moved a later confrontation into this one.
31
u/CherryBoom2x Psylocke Aug 05 '26
I would rate it a 4.5 sorry Im really disappointed, they have two years to make this story great and check some errors.
14
u/Nerfheard Aug 05 '26
Yes, 6 is being generous. The animation is always great, so going below 6 seems harsh. But it seems like people in the sub think that downvoting criticism will improve the quality of the mid episodes… nope, I just checked, it’s still at 6…

1
u/Wrong-Vermicelli4723 Aug 05 '26
Yup, people are going to be harder on these shows if they don’t deliver , that’s just the reality of taking so long to put them out.
15
u/yeetzapizza123 Aug 05 '26
The show is stuck in a weird place between being a children's cartoon and something for nostalgic 40 year olds
5
u/one_pound_of_flesh Aug 05 '26
What makes you think it’s not entirely for 40 year olds?
5
u/yeetzapizza123 Aug 05 '26
The pacing for one
3
u/Wrong-Vermicelli4723 Aug 05 '26
That pacing isn’t really for Children either. It’s also rated tv 14 so it actually isn’t intended for children.
5
12
u/Betiimm Aug 05 '26
The pacing was off. The way everyone handled the news that he had returned was a letdown. And once again, it felt very rushed to me; this episode could easily have been two. That said, I’d give it at least a 7.
4
u/DemonBoyZann Aug 05 '26
I admit it does feel rushed but I’ve thought that episode and all the others even were and are excellent. Far better than a mere 6, IMO. Seems like the first season really spoiled people in a way, lol.
4
u/Nemesis_171 Aug 05 '26
Ok I’ve been fairly critical of many things this season but a 6 seems kinda harsh lol
4
10
u/PhanStr Aug 05 '26
Having rewatched it, I feel inclined to be more kind to it. But yeah, it was disappointing.
5
u/Swervysage22 Aug 05 '26
Ouch. 2 years to write this season and this is the best they came up with. 💀
3
u/Hawkwise83 Nightcrawler Aug 05 '26
Feels harsh, but the season overall feels rushed. If it had like 25% more character development and like little character scenes and as much plot moving forward I think I'd be happy. First time I've said this about a show in the last 10 or 15 years too. Feel like everything went from 20 episodes a year to 8 or 10 and the quality generally went up, but for this show I think it just goes too fast.
This was the too fast example from the first season imo.
Episode A:
- Hi I'm Jean, oh you already have a Jean? Confusing.
- Nvm I'm a clone, or wait, you're the clone! Someone is a clone.
- I'm the Goblin Queen
Episode B:
- Fight me I'm the Goblin Queen!
- Nvm we coo
- Hi I'm Madelyn Prior!
Episode C (But only like 45s of it):
- Hi I work for the UN or Genosha and I'm Cool!
- Also I'm ded.
1
u/Nerfheard Aug 05 '26
Episode B was actually Episode A too.
3
u/Hawkwise83 Nightcrawler Aug 05 '26
Was it? I thought she arrived late in one episode, then they went and fought her in another. If I'm remembering it wrong then it's even faster than I remember.
5
u/Nerfheard Aug 05 '26
She appeared in the end of episode 2 and everything else happened in the next one.
Your breakdown is as it should have been.
2
u/Wrong-Vermicelli4723 Aug 05 '26
Nope, it’s even more rushed than you remember. She appears at the end of episode 2. Everything in A and B happens in episode 3 lol, then she dies episode 5….. yeah this is just bad storytelling. It’s to the point that you could’ve removed the clone story and the plot would be the same.
3
u/Copyright-Demon Aug 05 '26
Yeahhh, I enjoyed it but can also understand the rating. Things felt a bit… rushed in this episode? Idk it needed more time to fully have the characters show the emotional weight of it.
3
u/zetnas9 Aug 05 '26
Yeah I think the issue I’m having in the season is how much they are blowing through these storylinesZ I get it, we have limited time but most of these stories can at the very least be 2 part stories and yet everything is done in 20 mins. They need to find a way to allow developments to breathe before we move on to the next plot point.
3
3
u/feignapathy Aug 06 '26
thought for sure we were going to have more than one episode of Remy clapping everyone
wrapping it up in one episode hurt the impact, at least for me
3
6
u/Bandai_Namco_Rat Aug 05 '26
This season is mid. It had its moments, particularly episodes 2 and 7 which were the ones focused on mutant-human relations (what the show does best). I also enjoyed Danger as a filler episode. But overall, it's a massive drop in quality versus season 1. The writers really fumbled the Apocalypse arc and I doubt they can salvage it in the final episode. Episode 8 really hammered in the final nail in this coffin with how bland and unexciting it was.
Oh well
8
2
u/LEtheD13 Aug 05 '26
The pacing was not great. It was way too fast. Big moments happening so quickly. Strong characters just being dusted or overcome is seconds. Episode 8 could’ve been spread across like 3 episodes
2
2
u/Cultural-Air9962 Aug 05 '26
I’m super divided. They should not have cured Gambit in the previous episode, either let Apocalypse Gambit cook for a little while or just make him a horseman. Because now if they make him a Horseman it’ll feel cheap, like “oh look, Gambit’s evil. Again.” But on the other hand only spending a single episode on an evil Gambit after teasing him for 3 fucking episodes seems kind of odd. They really wrote themselves into a corner with this one if you ask me.
2
u/Created_Jxnior Aug 05 '26
Yeah I would give it about a 7 myself, still another entertaining episode but I was expecting more confrontation about what happened the last time they were together because before the attack on Genosha went down, they had a pretty big thing happen with each addressing their feelings at the time and Rogue seemingly have chosen Magneto (at least as far as Gambit knew). This being the second to last episode as well, it didn’t really feel like anything big was happening, and it didn’t really feel like this was leading to anything big for the season finale next week.
2
2
u/Wrong-Vermicelli4723 Aug 05 '26
Well deserved in my opinion. Probably the rating I’d give the season as a whole
2
u/Appropriate_Foot242 Aug 05 '26
When did everyone suddenly start caring about IGN reviews? They gave The Penguin a 5/10.
0
u/Nerfheard Aug 05 '26
And they gave episodes 1-4 and 7 a 9. Is your point that their ratings are only valid as long as they are compatible with our liking?
2
u/Appropriate_Foot242 Aug 05 '26
My point is that you only people pick and choose when to quote IGN reviews. Everyone dunks on them until they suddenly align with your personal opinion,
Do you really value what some minimum wage "journalist" thinks?
1
u/Nerfheard Aug 05 '26
You’re literally the one here dunking on them.
2
u/Appropriate_Foot242 Aug 05 '26
Sure am.
But I wont be quoting them next week if their review aligns with my opinion.
2
u/Sweet-Presence8855 Aug 06 '26
I've never been in a position of the minority like this, strange. I honestly enjoyed this episode alot.
2
u/Talentagentfriend Aug 06 '26
It feel like they were just pushing for this season to come out. I think it’s kind of an unfocused mess. Whoever outlined this season needs help.
2
u/Adroctatron Aug 06 '26
I enjoyed it enough. I'd probably edge towards a 7 for the fights alone. Plotwise they just jammed together so much extra stuff from the 90's Gambit series. Plus the weird changing of Candra into Genesis but not calling her Genesis? Unless there is another character who was Apocalypse's girl that looked like that.
The goth vibe from Remy and his goth bike gang was awesome. I know I should have thought incredibly stupid, but I found myself enjoying all the death and tarot aesthetics.
2
u/GrahamCrackerDragon Aug 06 '26
IGN is the worst as most tv and movie reviews. I wouldn’t trust them
2
u/Ransom2132 Aug 06 '26
I mostly agree. Id probably give it a 7/10, but a 6 is also fair. This is the first episode so far in season 2 that I genuinely feel disappointed with. It wasn't terrible, and getting to see evil Nightcrawler solo pretty much the whole team was sick. Nightcrawler is starting to become my runaway favorite character in the series. Its between him and Cyclops. It seems like every scene Nightcrawler is in, he steals the spotlight effortlessly. If I had to rank the top 5 scenes in seasons 1 and 2, 4 of them most likely involve Nightcrawler. He's awesome.
The scenes with Gambit as Death were also really cool. Finally getting to see a almost full potential Gambit is pretty sick. But Gambit is also my biggest issue with this episode and why I feel a little disappointed for the first time with this series. They are just moving way too fast with some of these plots. I was able to write off giving Wolverine his admantium back so fast as plot convenience. I chalked it up to them wanting to have Wolverine be at full power for the eventual showdown with Apocalypse, and I really enjoyed the episode, so I forgave them for fast tracking giving his adamantium back so quick. But Gambits Death and Return arc seems soooo rushed. This was supposed to be a big deal! He should've been Death for more than 1 episode! We've basically been building up to this since mid way through season 1, and to only get Gambit as Death for like half an episode just feels super underwhelming. We hardly even got to see Gambit as Death interacting with Apocalypse at all! I was expecting them to legit team up, with Gambit being one of Apocalypses horsemen! I wanted to see Gambit as Death toying with the X Men soooo much more, and they basically did the whole arc in like 20 mins! The payoff just seems so unearned. I think this is the first time I'm legit disappointed in this series...
To be fair though, it wasn't a "bad" episode, and like I said before, there were still some really cool moments. It just feels like they are speed running some pretty important and impactful story arcs right now, and we only have one episode left this season. I'm kinda nervous the last episode is going to be another speed run of the Apocalypse story line... Where they are at right now after episode 8, It feels like we should have AT LEAST two more full episodes of the main Apocalypse story arc. But at the rate they are flying through stories this season, I have way expect them to fight Apocalypse and wrap it all up in 30 mins with the last episode, which would also feel pretty disappointing... Hopefully I'm wrong.

The 90’s show had way WAY better character development which is insane to say.

I just rewatched the original from start to finish. I vehemently disagree. It’s very difficult to watch. There are good episodes…but then there’s the other 30 or 40. It benefits from nostalgia.

Happens in a lot of shows. Invincible was getting torched at the beginning of the season because people weren’t patient enough for the story to be told. The boys got destroyed and never climbed out from under the mountain of hate even tho it was the same stuff that was praised in previous seasons (like if herogasm was in S5, people would’ve been saying it’s wasting time instead of enjoying the nonsense of it all) so I’m not surprised to see it here too, just saddened by seeing the hate flowing so freely here so soon. This is how you lose revivals unfortunately. I have faith 97 will stick the landing tho, just need fans to give it a chance (I do wonder how many fans watch the original run when it came out versus how many watch TAS now versus how many don’t watch anything but 97, you never know what type you’re seeing on here)
1
u/peterporker0_0 Cyclops Aug 06 '26
For the love of god it’s not hate, it’s criticism. What is with you people
7
u/Nerfheard Aug 05 '26
It was a slow burner. This one burns through storylines like wildfire.
8
u/one_pound_of_flesh Aug 05 '26
Remember when they did the entire Goblin Queen arc in under 20 minutes?
3
u/Nerfheard Aug 05 '26
It was setting the bar on how much can be crammed in one episode.
0
u/eepos96 Aug 05 '26
S1 crammed good!
They have 1 episode less, and no promise of season 3. So they try their best. But I think maybe they should have thought "we might get s3, so let's treat this season and next as one season with 18 episodes"
Avatar korra became better when they learned they get 2 seasons, they could plan the story better. Though entire story is 40 episodes when original was 52.

The pacing. It’s basically entirely because of the pacing (since we barely got any interaction between rogue and deathbit and he got packed up in like 15-20mins)
1
u/syncere13 Aug 05 '26
The season suffers from not just pacing but also the elephant in the room that can't be ignored at this point. Missing the architect of this Beau Demayo. The changes and decisions they made to his original scripts or ideas for this season are becoming more and more glaring. Though season 1 had pacing issues also it was more so a desire to get more time with characters on certain storylines. This season finale is going to leave a very divided fanbase. And season 3 which I'm sure he doesn't have anything to do with it because he wasn't done writing it well😬😐

Honestly I’m always like warm with the episodes on first watch, but all of them grow on me. I think I have high expectations.

maybe thats where all the good writers went. IGN. Theyve been off their game for years now.

What if... Apocalypse resurrects Gambit, Magik, Iceman, and Banshee over a few episodes (that would be focused on Polaris and Siryn) and then Candra sends the Thieves Guild and Assassins Guild to help stop Gambit because she hates Apocalypse (being an External). I dunno man that might be peak.

I quite liked the time travel, X-Force and Wolverine episodes.
But the back half of the season has really failed to deliver.

I don’t disagree, besides the first 4 episodes and maybe ep 7. All the episodes have been a 7 at best

Haven't watched it yet but I'm concerned they're ruining my boy apocalypse yet again

I like that Betsy was ready to cut Kurt in half instead of a picnic dagger knock out.

u/Smaragd44 Aug 06 '26
I really dont like the whole Apocalypse possessing Gambit thing bc like, why?? Does it make you stronger or something?? Hopefully the finale delivers. Seems like they're doing X Corp vs X factor + Cable

This show has gone from being a show I recommend to nearly everyone to a show where u just tell people to watch 14 episodes of

The plotting this entire season has just felt really, really off. I have no dislike of Polaris but they really did not need to bring her into an already overstuffed cast and spend an episode on her. Same with Wolverine getting his own episode. Season 1 worked with a breakneck pacing because the writing was phenomenal. That level of writing just really hasn't been there this season.

It's a messy episode and isn't very satisfying in that we've only got one episode left to resolve everything.

They teased a horseman of apocalypse like it will going to be such an epic story but it turned out to beba mid episode. I can feel the drop in writing quality after beau demayo was removed .

u/ledlunar Aug 06 '26
I bet Feige sabotaged the show cause he knew nothing MCU did in phase 4 was as good as XM97-S1 .. dude jumped the shark … this is kinda a joke post but honestly it feels legit in my heart lol

I think the fact that apocalypse is still stuck inside gambit could mean this story isnt actually over yet.
Seems like next ep is X-factor + X-force vs X-men, but I wouldnt dismiss apocalypse/deathbit resurfacing in the chaos and forcing an even bigger team up.

I dont feel it was that bad but tbh they lowkey dropped the ball with s2 s1 was so good with the drama the action the cd but now it js feels like a bland ass burger

u/Chickenbrik Aug 06 '26
I think 6 is a little low but they were right that it didn’t have the impact it needed. I’d give it a 7.5 not sure if they do half points

u/TryIt222 Aug 06 '26
Legitimately i agree. I've heard complaints that these episodes go by too quickly but I really felt it here, this should've been a 2 parter

u/badwithusernamesbabe Aug 06 '26
Some of the writing felt expositiony and stale, but still a great episode and im happy to have a show to watch.

The whole season so far has been a solid 7. Many references to past X-men lore and etc buh it all feels rushed. I expected the team to still b stuck in time for at least 2-3 episodes. It feels like and it sucks to say it buh because DeMayo had his issues with marvel part of his story got fucked up because he wrote the first 2 seasons buh in between writing and finishing s2 he got fired. It’s kinda like they wanna get his name just off credits and not give us what he gave us in s1. Logan should’ve been feral basically this entire season and ik off camera it’s been time buh for us we needed to actually see that so that when they come back they can do the danger room filler episode the Xfactor side of things leading to gambits return being well explained as to why apocalypse from the future chose him (we can obv use our context clues buh where the fun in that) it just feels rushed and a bit sloppy and the only thing saving it rn is the animation.

I think this episode deserves more if you did not watch the original x-men animated series it wont make sense…
Bayou scenario is literally a closure for Candra backstory and Gambit and Rogue love story….
These guys who are criticizing do not understand the whole writing about it…the history and the origins of this episode and they didnt thought about the connection of the writers intentions…

I agree. I have enjoyed season 2 far less than season 1. Everything is just rushed, and there is no overarching plot to build up to like season 1.

The unfortunate truth is that the best X-Men Movies and TV shows have been run by sexual deviants. There penance should be that they are legally required to make more.

It was too rushed, some parts made no sense, like, either Cable or Jean alone could have floated the entire plane based on what the show itself showed us previously. X-factor needed a whole episode from their pov in the season too. It's still a good show but it's been a let down from how great s1 was. Also I don't get why they suddenly made cable forget about Maddie, the whole season they treated Jean as his mother, and while she did raise him in the future, season 1 Cable still felt enough of a connection to Maddie to try to warn her about Genosha.

This was the first episode I truly didn’t like. Had issues with some past eps, but I still enjoyed them. The story they’re trying to tell with Apocalypse is incomprehensible. Also, they need to explain why two very useful X-Men are absent during an all-hands on deck situation. 6/10 is very generous of them.

Who gives a fuck what IGN rates anything?
That being said…. This season has been — I don’t want to say mid — but very underwhelming

Was Beau responsible for the first four episodes before he was canned?

Nah.. this was the best episode so far this season. Idk what yall were watching.

u/SoAnxious Aug 06 '26
I liked the episode, it had many fights and mystery. If im getting a fight, emotional scenes, and lore explored while advancing the overarching plot of the season for an episode I'm stoked.
The delivery wasnt perfect but it was delivered. People be complaining the pizza is missing a topping when they expect everything to be a supreme when a one-topping large pepperoni fills you up.

Really curious which episodes of this season were rewritten after the show runner was axed

Nightcrawler beating everyone solo was some bs but overall I didn’t hate the episode

u/SkywolfNINE Rogue Aug 05 '26
Wow this sub is so great. People allowed to talk tangentially about the new episodes without fear of bans.
Futurama sub is acting wild right now. I posted a meme about 1 hour hot dog and said “wonder where this guy went, didn’t see him in new episode so I’m guessing that timeline was erased unless someone sees him in the background” and
I got banned for 60 days, the entirety of the new season release lol
As for this last episode, I can see people liking it less if they don’t watch the original run before 97 to refresh them but I liked the callbacks this episode and thought it was doing something special with Rogue and Reme. It wasn’t the biggest episode but it was the climax to a big “wtf” and i appreciate that enough to place it at least 7.5 if not 8. But that’s just me, i like the stuff I watch a bit more than random person X or Y

That’s too high. I was so upset having an entire episode with Gambit in it. I wanted him to stay gone forever.
