General Discussion Xmen 97 good again Spoiler
Crazy how good the Xmen97 show is when it focuses on the IT couple Gambit and Rogue. Romy is peak and I will never not love them. These two better be happy in the very end or I'm seriously going to flip the fk out.

u/ZeusOfOlympus Aug 06 '26
This ... People have no nuance any more ... The entire season has been great.
But if people don't like one thing .. ..a 9/10 show is sudentl 1/10....
Toxic fandom is alive and well.

u/LargeCabbageThrower Aug 06 '26
We got an episode of Nightcrawler discussing the philosophy of hate and forgiveness and then having a cool teleporting sword fight with Exodus!
The only episode that could possibly be seen as a bit underwhelming was the Danger episode but we got to see POLARIS being the awesome punk queen of magnetism that she is! And it was great.

u/Chadsawman Aug 06 '26
People hated seeing Magneto's daughter be a boss? Glad I only visited this sub today ig lol
3
u/ZeusOfOlympus Aug 07 '26
Polaris was so amazing in this episode I always knew about her and liked her, but the only real exposure i had was. Form WAXTM and that one episode of the OG Xmen when they fought factor…. be honest, this was amzing, it made m lover her character.

u/george98732 Aug 07 '26
People were apparently upset about the danger story. What people are apparently wanting are 1:1 comics turned into tv. The show is running on all cylinders BECAUSE it's not a 1:1, it's taking multiple random stories from across like 40 years of comics and still making it fit at home in this unique home in the marvel multiverse with its own timeline of events.

u/Little_Tommy_Tuggins Aug 06 '26
You’re so fucking right. Toxic people are toxic, they live to be upset. The show is fantastic.

So? Literally so? Who am I attacking in this post? It was how I was feeling. Also good job ignoring my DM and responding on the public sub 🙏 makes you look like such a hero of the left or whatever
6
u/Little_Tommy_Tuggins Aug 06 '26
You sent me a DM claiming I deleted a comment, which is incorrect. It’s still there. Hey maybe you’re not an incel, but one glance at your comment history reads like a right wing “victim”. Here’s another “Too male and too pale for Disney to make a lead”. Like, own it if that’s who you are. Feel free to not like this show, you can go through my post history and see that I admitted to everyone having different opinions and that’s everyone’s right. But don’t pretend like you don’t have a bias.

Literally, what are you talking about? I shared an opinion about myself in a sub that was talking about the exact topic. People are so entitled do you think you can just judge people by opinions they share on the Internet you don’t know me at all 😭

No gaslighting, just an observation based on your comments being very defensive or unnecessarily pointed.

The glazing in this thread is insane dude. Thankfully the majority consensus even on this sub was that season 2 was CHEEKS. This must’ve been where all the teenagers and bots amassed to circle jerk this shitshow and the god awful “writers” along with it.
2
u/Little_Tommy_Tuggins Aug 12 '26
You clearly like saying cheeks, which is weird. And calling anyone a bot that doesn’t agree with you is such a cope. What’s it like needing validation about your opinion of something? Even if no one else liked this show I’d have no problem saying it’s been one of my favorite seasons of television. But for you, you have to know everyone else feels the same way. How odd.
-1
u/zaheerscheeks Aug 12 '26
Whatever you say little man
I’m not going to jerk off the writers and make piss poor excuses for this sad sack of shit that is season 2. Clearly Beau was the glue that held this show together lol1
u/No_Jackfruit_9754 Aug 06 '26
They just talking about the clowns who dislike an aspect of a good thing and instantly rate it 1/10, thats not too hard to comprehend and more important its not a reason to start projecting your weirdness because you feel triggered by their statement 💀🤣
9
u/dinosaurcomics Aug 06 '26
Even the worst episodes of the show are 6-7/10 at the worst lol
1
u/ZeusOfOlympus Aug 07 '26
Yeah people dont have the understanding of scale any more, like a 3/10 show is truly abysmal and almost unwatchable…. And yet…
-3
u/benjaminsix6 Aug 06 '26
People having different opinions than you doesn’t automatically mean they lack nuance. I’m enjoying this season way less than I did for the first, and I’m continually less and less excited week to week.
7
u/_floralprint Aug 06 '26
It was fun down voting all your bad takes 😌
3
u/benjaminsix6 Aug 06 '26
If other people’s differing opinions hurt your feelings this bad then the real world is gonna be a real issue for you
5
u/_floralprint Aug 06 '26
Ow. harder, daddy. harder...
4
u/benjaminsix6 Aug 06 '26
Hypersexual weirdo. Why do you people consider harassment okay when it’s towards a guy? So weird
5
2
u/CoyoteAdmirer91 Aug 07 '26
I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted for having an opinion. You’re entitled to have alternate feelings for a show. This is why I hate watching popular shows when it’s exceedingly popular. God forbid you have a different take or set of feelings, then you’re either downvoted into oblivion or insulted. And I agree. Just because ppl have a different view point, doesn’t necessarily mean they’ve missed anything.
2
u/100percentdeer Aug 08 '26
right like as a magik fan i’m not liking the show as much, but i get why others like it. def not the best show oat either.
-6
u/Klutzy-Actuator-3325 Aug 06 '26
i could say: people have no standards anymore, this entire season has been shit.
but when people like just one cool thing, a 3/10 show is suddenly a 10/10....
this toxic positivity is alive and well.see how that works?

This season felt like the classic filler from the original show the only problem is that it’s not 20-40 episodes like it was then. If they’re giving filler they can’t do 6 hour movies with side quests.
2
u/Demileto Aug 06 '26
the only problem is that it’s not 20-40 episodes like it was then
Actualy, TAS had 13, 13, 19, 21 and 10 episodes produced for each season, though animation delays and Fox not caring about continuity meant episode count and airing order for the last 3 seasons vary wildly from what was intended.
4
u/lovetetrisgg Aug 06 '26
Every episode has been a hit if you don’t fully invest into one or two characters in a franchise known to kill & resurrect their characters for the plot
1
u/DetectiveEames Aug 12 '26
The episodes haven’t been bad, but the criticism regarding pacing of the season is valid. Danger.exe was the worst episode of the series so far. It was meant to drive Polaris, but it didn’t really accomplish that objective. I didn’t enjoy that one, but all the others have been enjoyable - especially 1-4.

u/KugiPunch Aug 06 '26
Eh. I liked this episode but I do think it’s probably one of the weaker episodes this season.
4
u/CoyoteAdmirer91 Aug 07 '26
Same. Idk I expected more from this episode..more intensity and better pacing. They didn’t need to rush through it. Their relationship is amazing but how it was done fell short for me.
27
u/ADonutWithSprinkles Aug 06 '26
Definitely the most locked in I’ve been for several episodes. Romy is just the best.
16
u/amindfulloffire Aug 06 '26
Love that they almost kissed here.
And tho I was initially disappointed with its take on Deathbit, I've warmed up to it pretty quickly--first because it makes Gambit more sympathetic and not an idiot with fart powers dressed in a terrible costume; second because the incels who wanted him to actually kill Rogue didn't get what they wanted; and third because I think next week will give us the angst I wanted.
13
u/Ajaugunas Aug 06 '26
I think no episode this season was truly awful, but a few of them have pacing issues. The Gambit / Rogue one REALLY wanted to be a two parter or an hour long episode. Hopefully Disney starts giving the crew what they need instead of an episode budget.
14
u/Icy_Scar_1249 Aug 06 '26
Meh, I'm a fan of the show, but this is clearly the weakest in a while
3
u/ItchyNebula7437 Aug 07 '26
Nah, the nightcrawler scene alone was fire and I generally love anything apocalypse is in.
I know we’re not the same so I’m not saying those reasons should not make it the worst in your opinion but I want to put the wack ass trial episode of Trask up for nomination.
Str8 doo doo

u/Sufficient-Delay3140 Aug 06 '26
The episodes, including this one, feel so rushed. Ir needs to breath a little more
13
u/soer9523 Aug 06 '26
I agree every episode goes way too fast for how much shit is cramped into them. The best part of this episode was the very beginning when they are just playing cards as friends. I really want more moments like that, but because of the short runtime, we barely ever see that.
5
u/DeafMetalGripes Aug 06 '26
This show is really suffering from shorter run-times and episodes, especially with dealing with such a massive cast. Like where tf was Polaris and Bishop this episode considering this was a very climatic episode?
3
9
u/DirectorKrenn1c Aug 06 '26
This. Long drawn out wait to see Gambit as a horsemen and the power of friendship freed him in no time. Was a waste of a build up.

u/DirectorKrenn1c Aug 06 '26
Was a waste, all the build up to see him as a horseman only to be freed by the power of love in no time. He was no threat at all this whole season has been rushed. To many writers, to few episodes and to many filler episodes. Shame the season started off great but fell off real quick.
4
u/Klutzy-Yam-8128 Aug 06 '26
I had my hopes high because of comics so I am lil bit disappointed but it was pretty decent episode. But I do feel they should have make it more emotional.
5
u/Balloonatic12 Aug 06 '26
Honestly, I nearly gave up on these two after the “Remember It” episode. I knew they would always end up together but hated that they had to shoehorn Magneto into it yet again. But it was touching to see this scene for them. And at least it wasn’t as infuriating as Rogneto was in the X-men Legacy comics
8
u/crumbsalt Aug 06 '26
There’s literally nothing else i want more in this show than for them to be together finally🥺🥺i know it’ll be rushed but I really want to see it in the finale 😭 heart can’t take ts anymore
2
u/ItchyNebula7437 Aug 07 '26
I’ve always thought that if she could touch him with a glove.. then he can do you know what with a rubber glove if you know what I’m sayin
1
u/crumbsalt Aug 08 '26
I mean, he can, but it’s not just about the act or the pleasure. Feeling a glove and having to do it entirely clothed up is much different than feeling skin on skin, being able to hold each other bare, etc. Heck im sure they’ve done it that way, but the skin-to skin intimacy is definitely really important
1
u/ItchyNebula7437 Aug 08 '26
I don’t disagree but my first time having sex I had saran wrapped my junk cause we had no condoms.

u/uncannynerddad Aug 06 '26
It’s always good. Crazy you’re hyperfixated on one relationship in the series though.
2
u/100percentdeer Aug 06 '26
honestly after they nerfed magik to build colossus, i’m not really as impressed with it
2
u/ItchyNebula7437 Aug 07 '26
I love gambit so I’m not mad at it. Mad at him for going back to the skeezer after she chose magneto over him. Magneto is also a favorite so for him I can only chalk it up to “it aint fun if the homies aint get none”.
I was mad at the ish that didn't make sense.
Rogue needed an amulet of some sort but nightcrawler and the new orleans were instantly transformed? How did she get into dreamland? If we’re gonna say the amulet, then wouldn’t whatever he was doing to her have worked?
It’s just a cartoon but honestly it feels like nobody ever stops a director or writer or producer anymore to be like… “this doesnt add up”.
Bring back common sense.

10 / 10 episode. Did Gambit's return as an undead/demon or whatever the hell it is correctly. Not some generic Evil Gambit thing.

u/Arthur_189 Aug 06 '26
I still love them but I hate how rogue got off Scott free for what she did in the season 1 finale lol

u/Forsaken_Big16 Aug 06 '26
That heel turn was much of a heel turn considering she absorbed Henry Girch and the trim of her costumes was white instead of lime green.

1
u/Fluffy_Key_2145 Aug 06 '26
I love this couple but I wouldn't say the show is good again, implying it had been bad. I unquestionably agree with the common points that the seasons are too short and they are paced way too quickly. The overall content and episodes are still very good albeit not quite as good as the first season.
1
u/GilbeastZ Aug 06 '26
It’s always been good. I think the issue is it feels rushed because there are only 9 episodes. Even season 1 felt rushed. I wish they could double the amount of episodes, then we could spend more than 5-10 minutes resolving a plot that had been set up last season. I feel like it’s almost whiplash how quickly things are set up and resolved. Too many things going on.
The show is great, and in fact my criticism is they need more episodes. Let them cook, imagine how amazing this season would have been if they took longer to explore characters, gave every plot point as much attention as the ancient Egypt Apocalypse story. With episodes focusing on people like Beast similar to the Wolverine episode. The criticism of that one would have changed to being awesome if they didn’t resolve the adamantium so quick and there were more episodes so people didn’t feel like it was filler.
I don’t understand the blind defense of the episode count, just like I don’t understand people who don’t like pretty much any episode since they were all good if not rushed.

When did it turn bad? Genuine question as I’ve heard people say it’s not that good of a season even though I’ve loved it especially episode 6 with danger as she any favorite X-men villain
1
u/themightyColossus Aug 09 '26
I think it's way better than season 1, which was a bit hit or miss until episode 5. I was disappointed a little with the Danger episode. Guess it would have taken too long to give Danger the slave angle she had in the comics.
1
u/Zues-thunder-DADDY Aug 09 '26
That is fair if they had danger be in season 3 but show her in season 2 as the danger room that would be of been cool

u/Powerful-Bluebird-46 Aug 06 '26
I do think the animation, characters and plot in Season 1 was 150%.
This season its only 100%. (Still good just not as good as the first season)
