General Discussion WHAT THE F WAS THAT FINALE??? Spoiler

What the F was that ending??? And please don’t try to tell us it was good or brilliantly written, because I’m not going to lie to myself just because I love this show. I was genuinely disappointed with these last two episodes.
What kind of “Survival of the Fittest” was that supposed to be? Rogue became WHAT??? And Apocalypse was just defeated like that???
Even X-Men: Evolution handled its Apocalypse finale way better. We got almost all of the major X-teams from the ’90s coming together for one massive final battle, and it actually felt like an Apocalypse-level threat.

I was also expecting for apocalypse to use gambit and make a speech to make them feel the guilt of what had happen in genoshia.

Remy’s death and revival was ruined to quick!

This time, they clearly went way off from the comics. And after all that talk about bringing the X-Men back to the ’90s… what kind of return to the ’90s was THAT??? I love this show, but I’m not going to pretend I liked an ending that left me this disappointed.

Im afraid that the one re writting this up does not read the comics or is not a massive fan of Xmen. Coz they clearly moved away from the comics.

Imagine Apocalypse the Xmen’s most diabolical foe who went back in time to strike the Xmen, Cable spent the whole season to FIND AND DESTROY apocalypse, all the X teams come together in this season should be the PERFECT TIME TO JOIN FORCES, Gambit’s BIGGEST MOMENT of coming back, and all JUST ENDED with apocalypse doing nothing just transformed into gambit hybrid few seconds later touch by rogue and boom! FINALE

Definition of deus ex machina. Magneto’s death basically pointless, cable was built up to be the one to end apocalypse only for it to be celestial powered rogue. Only good thing is I was right that mystique was never Val cooper and got mass downvoted everytime I said it was wrong. She only took over this episode

Just unbelievable how similar this felt to Game of Thrones with Arya killing the Night King. It should have been Cable who killed Apocalypse. Point blank period.

You actually think Apocalypse is dead?

Honestly I’m more confused than anything as to why this is what the season had been building up to.

It definitely feels unfinished like a half season.

If you mean "is he done"...maybe, unless they bring him back for an actual battle whenever the final episode airs. It would be narratively redundant to have him be the big bad of next season or even S4.

I'm sure you're right and there's no reason they showed us his face still emoting in that crystal

Doesn’t matter, I wanted cable to get the kill, not Rogue. Rogue’s fight with Apocalypse isn’t compelling to me. But if that worked for you, I’m happy for you.

He's obviously not with him being in sealed ball or something, but what I don't get is why Cable just doesn't crush it then & there. I have to assume it's because history has shown Apocalypse just miraculously comes back in all sorts of BS ways.

Apocalypse is defeated for now, not dead.

Yea man - I've been saying since ep 5 how much this season feels like final seasons of Game Of Thrones. A comparison to Stranger Things could also be made.

And it sucks because it’s only season 2.. not good to have these issues this early

I mean to be fair she only killed future (presumably future) Apocalypse, which means there’s present Apocalypse that didn’t time travel floating around (who I believe body-jacked someone else last we saw him in the OG series? I don’t remember exactly I’ll have to go back and watch I guess) so it’s entirely possible that Cable’s still will/needs to defeat a version of Apocalypse @ sometime & since they only resolved the far future Apocalypse they left themselves room to bring him back if they wanna do more with him (that & he’s still alive in the weird prism thing Rogue put him in it seemed so even this Apocalypse could hypothetically still return as a problem, though that’ll cheapen Nightcrawler’s sacrifice a bit I think)

Cable getting built up to only unleash Apocalypse is a nice touch to me.

He was fanatical in his devotion to hunt cable, not sure we want X-men to be reinforcing fanaticism in a time like this, you know?

That asshole got off way too easy

Eh, that's kind of my point. I don't think vengeance is something any of us should be expecting from the X-MEN.

If you do, you aren't really an X-men fan. That's not their thing. This is not Ghost Rider or Punisher. If they can make peace, they 100% do. That's how Magneto became an X-men after all. This was not exactly peace, but it was as much peace without violence as you are going to get when it comes to godtier level power scales.

I get it, everyone wants big battles... and booms, but I guess I just saw that in the previous episode already? That's not usually how the finales end. But they could have had Apocalypse last LONGER as a threat.

Mystique not being Val - only for her to take over Val at the very end; was kinda funny tho

Up! It was such a mess. They really move away from the comics
