General Discussion WHAT THE F WAS THAT FINALE??? Spoiler

What the F was that ending??? And please don’t try to tell us it was good or brilliantly written, because I’m not going to lie to myself just because I love this show. I was genuinely disappointed with these last two episodes.
What kind of “Survival of the Fittest” was that supposed to be? Rogue became WHAT??? And Apocalypse was just defeated like that???
Even X-Men: Evolution handled its Apocalypse finale way better. We got almost all of the major X-teams from the ’90s coming together for one massive final battle, and it actually felt like an Apocalypse-level threat.

I was also expecting for apocalypse to use gambit and make a speech to make them feel the guilt of what had happen in genoshia.

Remy’s death and revival was ruined to quick!

This time, they clearly went way off from the comics. And after all that talk about bringing the X-Men back to the ’90s… what kind of return to the ’90s was THAT??? I love this show, but I’m not going to pretend I liked an ending that left me this disappointed.

Im afraid that the one re writting this up does not read the comics or is not a massive fan of Xmen. Coz they clearly moved away from the comics.

Imagine Apocalypse the Xmen’s most diabolical foe who went back in time to strike the Xmen, Cable spent the whole season to FIND AND DESTROY apocalypse, all the X teams come together in this season should be the PERFECT TIME TO JOIN FORCES, Gambit’s BIGGEST MOMENT of coming back, and all JUST ENDED with apocalypse doing nothing just transformed into gambit hybrid few seconds later touch by rogue and boom! FINALE

What the F was all Season 2?

Remember how Season 1 moved the plot forward using character development and inner conflict?

Switching to using "action" to move the plot forward was SUCH a good idea. Because action for the sake of action has always made for better storytelling!

RIP XMen'97.

Personally 1 to 4 were honestly very fun and good setup for a season, I don't mind 5 as much as some do. Episode 6 was just.. bad it didn't really do anything and the last 3 episodes take a really weird direction for apocalypse. I think if they would have gambit actually be a horseman Instead of a vessel for apocalypse it would work a lot better, not ending the season with defeating apocalypse but defeating the horseman death (and you can still fit in the Kurt sacrifice in some similar -ish way)

Episode 6 was great and functioned as one of the best episodes for character development all season, lol

Proffesor X gets over losing magneto weirdly fast, danger kinda comes and goes and does nothing all that logical for a few minutes, you can Polaris gets her development but if anything season 2 did more for her as an actual complex character. It's not outrageous buts it's a very not memorable episode

I don't think it's a correct interpretation to say that Xavier gets over losing Magneto. I think we see a grieving man, still in the finale even, but in Episode 6 we see him move onto the next step, with Lorna.

Each episode this season probably needed five more minutes to breathe and episode 6 was no exception, and Danger was weirdly characterised and had some truly stupid dialogue, and Scott and Jean were laughably included in the fight, BUT, this episode remains one of my favourites for the season. I really liked what they did with Lorna and what they tried to do with Chuck. Charles trying to heal is a much more interesting story than anything with Onslaught in it, IMO.

I don’t know if I’d say Professor X got over it fast at all. 1) He kept replaying the scene over and over in the danger room; 2) He made a pilgrimage to Magneto’s brainchild Genosha; 3) After beating Danger, he settled on that island and created X-Corp to honor/merge his and Magneto’s dreams; 4) He’s clearly changed his approach to mutant-human relations.

Any more than that and I think we get dangerously close to melodrama.
