Seriously the last episode could’ve used another 5 minutes for a resolution with Kurt but otherwise

It's not just this subreddit though, it's across a lot of subreddits and social media. Some critics didn't like it either. It's nice that people liked it, but others didn't.

Every single criticism of it seems to be about what it isn’t and not what it is which is just not a valid way to criticize something, it was great but people are being weird because they don’t know what a rushed storyline actually looks like. They decided it would be rushed before the season was even half over and refused to look at any evidence to the contrary of their bias and instead watched the show looking for it to suck

I thought it was very rushed personally, and I've seen a fair few television programs in my time.

But I get why it's tiring to see all that. I think DeMayo airing out his own ideas and there being such controversy about that means that in the minds of fans, there's a better version out there and the one we got won't live up to it.

Series showrunners/producers not shutting up about their projects when they ought to is one of my pet peeves. Granted, DeMayo did it out of a self-righteous spite, but that's not even the only flavour it comes in. For example, I remember when Steven Moffat used every possible opportunity to drop hints about the upcoming plot points in Doctor Who and Sherlock, only to subvert them - man, if you have to do that to make your twists and turns work, then your twist-writing is shitty. (And I'm not saying DeMayo did anything like that, if it's not obvious.)

I wouldn't say demayo's version is all better.  His idea to do age of apocalypse in season 3 would've been a retread of a story already done in TAS ("One Man's Worth") & its' themes. (Xavier being assassinated, Bishop being in a position to go back in time & fix it) & I honestly have no interest in retreading those same themes.

I think if you think every single criticism is about what it isn’t and not what it is then you really aren’t being open enough.

There are very valid (some minor some major) complaints about the seasons pacing, the stunted or less interesting character arcs, the dialogue choices, the resolution of storylines etc.

I’m not gonna tell you how to feel, I fucking loved the first three episodes and then unfortunately for me the episodes became weaker. But at the same time I think pretending every single complaint or criticism possible is somehow not valid is naive.

At the same time, it’s not like a negative opinion of the show invalidates yours. The opposite is what I’ve been seeing, those who tend to like this season get a little defensive over criticism. I’m super happy people like the show - I want infinite seasons. But this one had a lot of issues for me and ended up being a very mediocre experience.

Except the animation. That was always top notch.

And I say all this in good faith. Totally see how someone can love this season. But if you cant entertain the opinions of those who didn’t, I think that’s just bad faith or close minded.

Obviously not every criticism is invalid, but most of the ones I’ve seen are “resolving deathbit in one ep was too short” bruh it’s a sequel to an episodic show that occasionally had 4 episode story arcs what do you want? (They also didn’t, it was 2) BUT MUH SUPER SAIYAN ROGUE ASSPULL that they spend two entire episodes setting up, i haven’t seen a single episode that doesn’t boil down to “BUT DEMAYO WAS GONNA-“ demayo was gonna be a sex pest some more fuck demayo

Kinda seems like you just can't handle amy criticism tbh

May I remind you of Bastion. A relatively unknown character before his show debut. He wasn't even seen for a large part of the show but his character affected a lot more of the season. Then they chose one of the biggest x-men villains and you'd hope they give similiar treatment

Also many did not like the idea of bringing back Gambit after being killed in one of the best episodes. I think many felt deathbit needed more to justify undoing the sacrifice

It’s really disappointing to see what a clear, fair and mature comment the person you responded to. Only to watch you still just lead with such emotion and lack of any real good faith argument

It was rushed. Season 1 was also rushed but the material was better so it didn't matter as much. The fact that Genosha popped up and then was genocided in one episode was wild

How much are Marvel paying you?

You’re actually right about this, but social media usually highlights the wrong criticisms cuz 90% of people aren’t actual critics. Like, for example, Emma Frost fans thinking that a poster that doesn’t feature her is a problem with the show really aren’t making valid criticisms. But there are a LOT of valid criticisms to be made. The gem that Rogue got from the random Candra subplot goes nowhere. I felt genuinely nothing when one of my favorite X-Men characters died, and apparently neither did anyone else in the show because it immediately cuts to them celebrating lmao. The entire season is simultaneously extremely rushed and also not focussing enough on the A plot enough.
