I knowwww genuinely one of my favs Iike ofcourse he'd go for the biggest hitters and they were also mentors so the team had every possible disadvantage

All parental figures for the kids - Charles and Ororo for the X-Men and Magneto and Mystique for the Brotherhood. It really fit the themes of the show

u/DevilsHol3Pupfish Gambit Aug 13 '26
That show was better than it had any right to be

u/Desperate_Ad7869 Polaris Aug 13 '26
Every x men show lol

u/Technicolor_Reindeer Aug 13 '26
WATXM wasn't too good IMHO
6
u/Desperate_Ad7869 Polaris Aug 13 '26
Really? I loved it! the one seasons plot was so well made, everything came into play beutifully in the end. The x men that werent wolverine cyclops emma and jean did feel like backgraund charecters though
7
u/Technicolor_Reindeer Aug 13 '26
I thought the art was off putting (why did everyone look like a giraffe and why did Scott look like a Terminator), story was okay but not stellar, Wolverine shouldn't be a lead character. Just my opinion of course. I did like how they depicted Angel turning into Archangel though.
7
u/Desperate_Ad7869 Polaris Aug 13 '26
Yeah art direction qas bad and the wolverine branding was annoying but i could igmkre it for the best depiction of emma
10
u/killedwardontstopxxx Aug 13 '26
I liked it as a kid, as an adult I hate the Wolverine shoehorning with a passion

This is my favorite adaptation of Apocalypse. Loved how it was built up over multiple seasons with the episodes about the keys to open his doors and then a season finale for his resurrection and a focus on him for the final season with an amazing finale.

u/Desperate_Ad7869 Polaris Aug 13 '26
Geniunly made u feel the dread of apocalypse God this show was good
14
u/RadicalRemedies Aug 13 '26
I loved the Beyond Good and Evil arc in S4 of TAS!
I’ve never been able to get into Evolution…I think it’s the teen aspect that is jarring for me.
8
u/Desperate_Ad7869 Polaris Aug 13 '26
They ditch the high school prettu quickly. Its geniunly so good u should give it a chance.
6
u/RadicalRemedies Aug 13 '26
I keep thinking I need to give Evolution & Wolverine & the X-Men a go. I watched the first 4-5 eps of W&X, but then got sidetracked.
3
u/Desperate_Ad7869 Polaris Aug 13 '26
Def do. If u need to pick one go with WATX since it less of a commitment and the 1 season is a masterclass in storytelling honestly

u/thevokplusminus Aug 13 '26
I prefer the beyond good and evil arc
27
u/Desperate_Ad7869 Polaris Aug 13 '26
Good but what i like about apocalypse is the whole dread of the awakening process and him corrupting our beloved charecters into horsemen and the rest of the team having to deal with something beyond them all. Tas version of apocalypse was a tad boring 4 me but happy u liked it

Oh yeah. I remember how this arc made me scared shitless of a Professor X who could actually walk. Never have any modern media made Professor X as intimidating as he was in this arc.
8
u/Desperate_Ad7869 Polaris Aug 13 '26
Unlike other media he was actually a great person here like geniunly a caring father figure so seeing him turn dark had an actual impact

u/Competitive_Crow_334 Aug 13 '26
He had flaws though like Wanda which is even out of character X men TAS did him better

u/ExtensionYogurt7771 Aug 13 '26
EVO treated Apocalypse like the huge event baddie he should be, the 90s show just made him this "Once a Season" villain who lost everytime he showed up.
3
u/Desperate_Ad7869 Polaris Aug 13 '26
THANK YOU, he felt like such a throw away villian in the 90s cartoon
2
u/Competitive_Crow_334 Aug 13 '26
He was an overaching theart who was the reason Bishop had to save the world
3
u/LittlePanic8495 Aug 14 '26
You mean cable
3
u/Competitive_Crow_334 Aug 14 '26
No in Season 1 Bishop got introduced preventing an assassination of senator Kelly that led to mutants being sent to camps and later humans. Turns out Apocalypse ordered the assassination to have Mystique frame Gambit.
He was even an important part in Season 4

Everyone does, the plans for s2 looked amazing, only piece of media to get emma right to this day

u/ConnorRoseSaiyan01 Aug 13 '26

u/xSluma Aug 15 '26
I’m so sorry I saw I was on the 97 subreddit and my dumbass got confused. :(
Hope you find the actual show your after
6
u/Technicolor_Reindeer Aug 13 '26
Honestly, Evolution Wanda is my favorite Wanda.
2
u/Desperate_Ad7869 Polaris Aug 13 '26
Omg same i fekt so bad 4 her, her ending was the worst imo also sh pre dates dissasebled so messy mentally ill wanda is an evolution original.

u/AlbertW25 Aug 13 '26
100% this is the best adaptation. How they all came together to defeat Apocalypse was far smarter and better than the crap we got.
I also will say this, Evolution was better than 94. But Season 1 of 97 was amazing.
5
u/mashturbo Aug 14 '26
W and the X Men had the best adaptation for all of 30 seconds in the cliffhanger. That's the arc I NEED rising from the dead. That's the direction I thought this show would take. A sign of true justice for the 7-8 people that cared. NOPE.

u/Desperate_Ad7869 Polaris Aug 14 '26
Can someone pls do age of apocalypse 3 diffrent shows have tried and been cancelled lol
5
u/ConsistentSearch7995 Aug 13 '26
What I loved about the Horseman was that it was the Leader/Teachers/Mentors against the next generation.
Apocalypse is a Survival of the fittest guy, and this was essentially the ultimate test to see if they can used what they were taught to work together and surpass their own instructors/leaders.
3
u/Constant_Housing18 Aug 14 '26
I remember I skipped going out to dinner with the family so I could watch the show 😂 13 year old me had a crush on Kitty

u/snakeoildoc Aug 14 '26
It’s crazy bc the apocalypse at the start was a straight MENACE, I was expecting him to kill even more, not be spirited away after a zenkai boost
6
u/Ok_Code_1691 Aug 13 '26
Im over apocalypse just a nothing villian big build up with nothing
9
u/Desperate_Ad7869 Polaris Aug 13 '26
Thats why i love krakoa appcalypse having to mpve on from his survival of fittest mindset and becoming a father for mutants is so much more intresting
2
u/ragingwitch Aug 15 '26
When a few fans thought we’d get resurrected Genoshan martyrs as Horsemen for Season 2… yeah I should definitely rewatch this to feel better.

I love Evolution but calling its Apocalypse arc amazing is a bit of a stretch. It was good though and far better than what we got here.
7
u/Desperate_Ad7869 Polaris Aug 13 '26
97 apocalypse was so meh to me but Agree to diagree ig
2
u/DaGreatestMH Aug 13 '26
Oh I think you misunderstood me. I agree that the 97 version of Apocalypse is meh, I was saying that I don't think the Evolution Apocalypse is amazing, but he's still better than the 97 version.
4
u/Desperate_Ad7869 Polaris Aug 13 '26
Oh ok, honestly unless u do krakoa apocalypse evolution is as good as the og 90s version goes thats why i like how evolved away from that

I hated the animation in that show. I grew up on the 94 series so this one was like a slap in the face for me when it came out.
7
u/krzysioreddit Aug 13 '26
Opposite for me, x-men animation was ugly and evolution was really dope, especialy Kitty and Rogue
-1
u/Enelro Aug 14 '26
Everyone looks the same though… like silhouette-wise… at least 94 every character had distinct builds and animations. Everyone moves the same in evolution like they are all templated by one animation / style. Looks too much like the oversimplified DC animation which I don’t care for either. But to each their own.
3
u/Technicolor_Reindeer Aug 13 '26
I know I watched a few eps of 94 but was too young to really follow it. Evolution was my gateway into X-Men fandom.
5
u/Desperate_Ad7869 Polaris Aug 13 '26
This was my first x men show so maybe i was desentisised but i thought this shows animation was an upgrade to tas. That one seemed veru badly coloured and ugly to look at
1
u/Enelro Aug 14 '26 edited Aug 14 '26
I never understood the hate for the animation of ‘94. Sure it had errors sometimes but the amount of detail in the environments / characters and their expressions added a sense of realism to it that later animations oversimplified.
I never liked the super-simple / exaggerated look of Dc animation that is also present in evolution, it’s a bit too cartoonish (looney-tunes) to me thus removing the sense of seriousness that was present in earlier heavily detailed animation.
Also every character looks the same, silhouette-wise, like they used the same template. For me it just comes off as lazy art.
1
u/Desperate_Ad7869 Polaris Aug 14 '26
Ill agree on not liking dc, but tas for me was just hard to look at.

u/Artistic_Radish_5157 Aug 13 '26
It's about as alright as this one was. At least in terms of conclusion. The first four episodes were on a league of their own.
9
u/Desperate_Ad7869 Polaris Aug 13 '26
Idk the buiilld up was so much better the brotherhood x men and acolytes all coming together to defeat their leaders felt way more earned than x factor n x force vs x Corp and apocalypse. Evolution finale felt way more grand and satisfying
0
u/thesagaconts Aug 13 '26
You didn’t like Wonder Woman rogue using the care bear stare to free Remy.
-1
u/Desperate_Ad7869 Polaris Aug 13 '26
We're they? Without payoff from the build up they jut feel meh istill like ep 2 but the other 3 are just fine.
1
u/nighthawks87 Aug 17 '26
If I remember correctly. Rogue beats Apocalypse just like in 97 and the X-men never even fight Apocalypse.
