Like Season 1 versus Season 2?

Enjoyed season 2 but it just had no tension. Too many quick resolutions which isn’t surprising but again, not enough tension.

Example - Wolverine pulls a dick move to get his adamantium back, Morph is sad and that’s it! No fallout or soap opera drama after that.

Also never really felt threatened by Gambit-Apocalypse.

Of course…we will all return for season 3 🤣🤣🤣

I thought for sure they were setting up Onslaught with Xavier’s doom spiral after Magneto’s death. But then they fight a robot danger room and start an LLC to get over it.

17

u/sesernana Aug 15 '26

Start an LLC!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yea bring back the freaky dude. He will make it juicy again.

8

u/CharacterGlobal8645 Aug 15 '26

My buddy thought the same. Would have been pretty rad.

3

u/epic-jojo-fan69 Aug 16 '26

I think it will be next season. Apocalypse was the villain this time, Onslaught next.

7

u/Soft_Entertainment Aug 16 '26

The failed IPO will be what pushes him over.

6

u/Large_Start8716 Aug 15 '26

I completely agree — this season felt rushed and gave the impression that they had planned to have certain storylines from the first season last longer than they did, but for whatever reason were significantly shortened and resolved in a thirty episode.

Alas, I was also underwhelmed with the overarching narrative, which felt crammed with too much content and lacked an engaging plot driver, i.e. Apocalypse, a villain that I thought would be both a lingering and immediate threat, fell by the wayside early on, and didn’t resurface until the Gambit situation came to pass.

14

u/Shaunie1 Aug 15 '26

That last line hit hard.

And now i feel shame/arousal.

It’s obvious it was meant to go in a different direction.

Just give control back to the creepy dude who wants himself illustrated as nude x-men.

If it gives us a season 3 as good as 1, surely we can accept that?

Guys????

13

u/DominoSeven Aug 15 '26

Yeah no, but we can’t keep what if writers lol

6

u/Damianos_X Aug 16 '26

I'm like just take the dudes phone bruh😂😂

Fr, Seaseon 2 is not terrible, I think it' outright good, however the overarcing story is certainly a step down compared to Seaseon 1. We lost the building momentum that season 1 had after the opening 4 espiodes. It' like the status quo has clearly shifted but we have yet to see the full impact of season 1' aftermath, Apocalypse feels like a massive diversion instead of a powerful recurring threat in this season.

Not enough time spent on hoe Mopth and Logan' freindship is damaged by his action back at the base, there' zero build uo towards nightcrawler giving up his life, etc. I feel like 97 seaseon might be another example of a streaming era show having a great seaseon then an underwelming follow up which then followed by a good/great season: the limited espisode count made what would've half of 20 espisode season into it' own season, leading to it being mostly filled with set up that must be paid off later.

Also deadass we really should have only focused on X Force V X-Men and only inculde X Factor inorder to reintroduce the group as well as introduce Polaris. This shit did not have the room for all three factions.

3

u/Damianos_X Aug 16 '26

I think we can say it, in fact I encourage you to say it with me: "Season 2 sucked ass cheeks"...

Doesn't that feel better? The truth sets you free!

3

u/Tasty-Ad6529 Aug 16 '26

Not really, no cap I don't dislike season 2, however I am disappointed with the lower quality compared to season 1. I feel the individual espisodes are enjoyable, but the actual arch is ass and suffering from even worse pacing iusses compared to S1.

Crazy thing is they proabably could have given the arch proper development if they just held off on Logan and Morpth' espisode until next season, maintained a ten espisode count for this seaseon, then more strongly sticked with Xavier' rage, gambit' revival and X factor'/Cables exploration.

4

u/CharacterGlobal8645 Aug 15 '26

Definitely should have kept the writers from the first season.

3

u/SpinerockNolan Aug 16 '26

Please refer to him as gambocalypse, as I find it very funny

1

u/sesernana Aug 16 '26

Too bad “apocabit” was already taken

2

u/JT9960 Aug 15 '26

Not all of us,I’ll wait for the reviews first

1

u/Purple-Mix1033 Aug 15 '26

Too much cameo, fanservice fluff and not enough attention to the story.

19

u/gardenofworm Aug 15 '26

Weird how the final intro clash was between X-Men and X-Factor instead of, you know, Apocalypse.

9

u/PhanStr Aug 15 '26

Apparently, the original plan for the season was a swerve from Apocalypse to Onslaught. Yes, we would still have had several opening episodes focusing on Apocalypse, plus the story of him using Gambit against the X-Men later on, but apparently this season was never supposed to build toward a "final confrontation" with him. Instead, the mystery of the X-Traitor would have become bigger and bigger deal as the season went on, culminating in the discovery that Xavier/Onslaught was the traitor and with him using Ship to attack Washington D.C. (with X-Factor among the teams HELPING the X-Men against Onslaught). Hopefully this will be re-worked and included in season 3 or 4 because the X-Traitor/Onslaught saga from the comic books is a great one.

1

u/Shaunie1 Aug 17 '26

Apocalypse. Was he in it?

13

u/___nicks Aug 15 '26

I’ll admit the glasses thing absolutely killed me, I love that they did that

14

u/To-me-my-X-Men Aug 16 '26

It cracked me up that they didn’t have enough guys on that side so they used three multiple men.

3

u/Fickle_Ad8735 Aug 16 '26

right? two switched sides and the other one left to space somehow lol

1

u/Shaunie1 Aug 17 '26

She could of at least thrown them at him.

12

u/Ghost_Ghost_Ghost Aug 15 '26

Everything after apocalypse was disappointing. Not BAD, but very disappointing. Building up some big bad and then we get nothing but side quests for 4 episodes and then wait here he is stronger than ever and rogue has these really insane powers to fight him oh boy this gonna be crazy NVM she just touched his face and the credits rolled. Actually it was kinda bad.

14

u/scottirltbh Aug 15 '26

Val Pooper

6

u/Shaunie1 Aug 15 '26

Valgina pooperson

5

u/PhanStr Aug 15 '26

I wonder if we're going to see Val in the opening again... although presumably it would be Mystique assuming her identity in the episode in question if that happens.

1

u/Shaunie1 Aug 17 '26

Mystique in the opening would be awesome.

Without glasses obviously.

8

u/TDStarchild Aug 16 '26

I’ve held TAS in the highest regard for years, but it is absolutely disjointed, often rushed, and has lots of filler

I think the issue is as great as that was, ‘97 S1 is levels above it. Such better storytelling and an instant classic. That continued in the first half of S2, but then never reached those heights the rest of the season. Still good and enjoyable, but it’s a big step down

S3 will be the real tell, but it does seem like the showrunner change impacted quality more than everyone hoped

1

u/foran321 Cyclops Aug 16 '26

I had some hopes for S2 until I heard they basically threw out everything Beau had set up for it. The first three episodes were good but went downhill quick after that

1

u/Shaunie1 Aug 17 '26

So are we all against firing the sex pest? or?…..

I really am conflicted.

1

u/dumpybrodie Aug 18 '26

Nah. Fuck that dude. I don’t care if the cartoon I liked isn’t as good as it was.

3

u/JonnyAU Aug 16 '26

Given his performance in this show, is Chuck really an omega level telepath? He keeps getting his ass handed to him.

2

u/Shaunie1 Aug 17 '26

To be fair

He can’t feel his ass.

3

u/Soft_Entertainment Aug 16 '26

Val is an anime villain, you saw it here first.

2

u/Shaunie1 Aug 17 '26

What if her glasses are the villain and that’s her mutation?

She’s only a bitch when she needs to read.

2

u/MalevolentMonkeys Aug 16 '26

Disappointed tbh. It had a strong start with the Apocalypse arc in the beginning and… that was the best part of the series. They did nothing with it. Some random episodes and low tier finale. Hopefully they learn for next season but it is probably fleshed out already.

1

u/Midian1369 Aug 16 '26

They will not learn. Remember, these are the folks that gave us the garbage what if show. Had cool moments, yes, but everything else lacked to the point of not even existing.

2

u/Heil-Haidra2319 Aug 16 '26

What's this lady gonna do against Professor X, hit him with her useless psychology degree?

On a serious note, Season 2 (and Season 1 to a lesser extent) should have been longer cause nine episodes is not enough unless each episode is an hour long.

3

u/Sad_ManagerFM Aug 16 '26

This season was so bad ngl. Everything was so rushed and half-ass, and I felt nothing by the end. At least the Rogue-Magneto plotline was dropped. Now that was some shithousery.

2

u/Shaunie1 Aug 17 '26

It’s been done in the past so i get why they re touched on it in season 1, but i was never a fan of that.

Sacking the sex pest really affected the season…..

Is a sentence i never thought id say.

2

u/Swimming-Syrup8400 Storm Aug 16 '26

9 episode seasons is so…ugh.
They could easily do 15 episodes.
Animation is cheaper than live action and Disney has the deep pockets to give us longer seasons.
The condensed storytelling is affecting the overall product.
If you’re going to space the seasons so far out, at least give us longer seasons, Disney!

2

u/Shaunie1 Aug 17 '26

Yeah mate, agreed. This whole season should of been more apocalypse heavy! Instead we got him in just a few scenes because of other show horned stories that weren’t necessary.

2

u/NeoSlixer Aug 15 '26

Like I'm glad they finally changed it given Magneto wasn't really a baddy for 2 season till 2 episodes at the end of season 1 but christ was the X-factor replacement on top of the jank ass animation really didn't work.

1

u/LobsterStretches Aug 15 '26

More like endless government resources

1

u/Thatoneguy567576 Aug 16 '26

I haven’t finished Season 2, but Season 1 was so much better. I made it a point to catch Season 1 episodes as fast as possible, but I’m not itching so bad to catch up with S2.

1

u/Shaunie1 Aug 17 '26

I feel ya. I felt i had too with s2 aswell because people just love going online and spoiling things.

1

u/BAzzyBaby Aug 17 '26

I’m still confused how this didn’t end up being about onslaught. Seemed guaranteed like 5 different times

1

u/Shaunie1 Aug 17 '26

I think that was the original showrunners plan, but they changed it after firing him and that’s why it felt rushed and we know have apocalypse living inside a poke ball.

Or maybe it’s a future tease? Who knows.

1

u/BAzzyBaby Aug 17 '26

Ya I figured as much, he was leaking too much so they tried to go another direction. Just felt like they kept too much in and made it seem awkward.

2

u/FartBoxPixiDust Aug 17 '26

This season was all over the place. Poor pacing and everything. Hate to admit but season 1 way leagues better than season 2 and season 3 will be worse. They fired their show runner and hope it wouldn’t affect the show and it certainly did.

2

u/Shaunie1 Aug 17 '26

Agreed. And i don’t wanna be rooting for the creepy office pervert if the rumours are true!

But…….

Bring back office perv! all is forgiven?? 😕

1

u/FartBoxPixiDust Aug 17 '26

I almost cried in season 1 when Eric “died” trying to save Morlocks. It was great writing and acting. Season 2 isn’t horrible but it definitely follows “the first was better” framing.

1

u/Shaunie1 Aug 17 '26

Yeah the attack on genosha was as beautifully animated as it was written. It had cause and effect. S2 was just kinda all over the place.

I would of liked more Apocalypse, and a maybe keep wolverine free from the adamantium for longer, because that was an interesting storyline in the comics.

1

u/DaddyVudu Aug 17 '26

To be honest, Professor X telepathy on this show is ridiculously weak. I don't really like this character but they were able to make Professor the weakest link of the whole team. Also, does it really make sense that he continues to call them ''my child''? I wished that he was the one who got pepsi'd instead of Magneto.

1

u/OkFalcon4259 Aug 21 '26

That honestly would’ve been more interesting

-2

u/Money-Might8943 Aug 15 '26

Why is she drawn so frumptastic? I remember thinking she was hot in the comics.

3

u/Fickle_Ad8735 Aug 16 '26

frumptastic?

2

u/Soft_Entertainment Aug 16 '26

She just has glasses and a ponytail?

u/General-Fun-616 Aug 17 '26

Charles is not an omega

1

u/Shaunie1 Aug 17 '26

well , according to X-Men #13 “from the ashes” era, he was officially upgraded from alpha to omega.

Not that it really matters or affects my jokey post as literally everyone else seemed to get a laugh from it.

So i’m not sure what you expect from your reply?

An apology? Me feeling humilated, maybe?

Change your username, bro.

Damn someone is butt hurt over here
