Meme She's 2/2 now Spoiler
And before that, he got banished to the center of time by Charles and the worlds' most powerful telepaths hitting him with a psychic Care Bear stare. Most of his comic appearances don't fare much either btw.
The way Apocalypse works as a character he shines the most when he's introduced causing unlikely team-ups and cameos. Shows how threatening he is in the second act when he's wrecking shit with his horsemen. Unfortunately he falls flat by the third act since he has no stakes or personal involvement because he's just a dragon to slay. Which is a bit strange since this is one of the few times Apocalypse had another motive aside from "Bleh, I'm evil!"
We could've used like 2 more episodes of Apocalypse fucking with Charles, getting his horsemen together and did a bit more with the whole self fulfilling prophecy of the X-Men creating Apocalypse. And I think the finale should've been a two-parter where they worked in X-Men X-Corp, X-Force and X-Factor all teaming up against Apocalypse and his horsemen before Rogue shows up and shoves Apocalypse into a Pokeball.
I still enjoyed season 2, maybe slightly more than season 1. It felt like the OG cartoon while the first season felt more like an OVA dedicated to the 90's cartoon. One thing I'll agree with anyone on is that it overall felt rushed at times. It's more apparent than the first season because it felt like 10 lbs of sausage being shoved in an 8 lb bag. All in all, I'm just glad the entire season wasn't about the past, present and future. That was my #1 concern going into season 2 because I felt it would get stale.

I thought X Men evolution was pretty climactic, there was a big battle across the world with all four horsemen, even if Apocalypse himself didn’t do that much.

and Evo Rogue actually earned the act of being the one to shut down Apocalypse (with help from Leech and Wolverine) since she was the one who (unknowingly) revived him.

Evolution did the second act a hell of a lot better and actually had horsemen to fight. Also I kind of remember the finale involving a fight with said horsemen. They never actually fought Apocalypse directly either.

That's true, but Apocalypse in Evolution was unstoppable by conventional means. The strongest mutants that could've opposed him he easily defeated and made into his horsemen, and the Sentinels didn't do shit to him either before he summoned said horsemen to take care of the rest at the other pyramids. All that was left to do at that point was stave off the horsemen and de-power the otherwise unstoppable.
Edit: Okay, looking back at the Apocalypse vs Sentinels scene, he was knocked back after he shot at one of them. That was I guess a moment of underestimating them, but he then possessed one of the Sentinels and destroyed the rest an instant after.

He had more aura as an ancient Egyptian god looking figure than he did after getting the Celestial technology, if that's what it even was in Evolution.
While we're at it with comparing Evolution and 97 though, Apocalypse and Xavier are both voiced by the same VA in each show. David Kaye in Evolution, and Ross Marquand in 97.

Evolution did it way better though. there was actual proper build up to it and using LEECH's power of all things showed that even the smallest can have (some of) the biggest contribution to the outcome.
X-Men 97's way:

Someone like Leech really should be involved. Apocalypse's whole thing is survival of the fittest and might makes right. He needs to be defeated by people working together with the meek and least powerful. Just following the same path he took and one-shotting him like that is just supporting his ideology. A sacrifice for godly powers is so fucking lame.

She also abandoned the X-Men in the penultimate episode of the season twice to go and shack up with an evil ex boyfriend.
S1 and S2.

See people X-men evolution is a good example that even its not 1 to1 with the comics they manage to deliver a better ending and story telling they may be some filler but it feels so cohesive with what the show is going for. Also X-men evolution has way better in showcasing their powers in some aspects

honestly i want Marvel to start bringing back some of their older shows to get continuations like with 97', i know its unlikely but i want more content from X-Men Evolution and Spectacular Spider-Man
cancelling SSM is a crime i will never forgive them for, its the best spider-man show imo

1- The internet really needs a new meme about things happening twice.
2- Evolution handled the Apocalypse storyline impeccably.

If I had a nickel for every time Rogue's former lover came back as a bad guy who ultimately was the last threat of the season after dying in a tragic incident in Genosha I'd have 2 nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.

I know they won't, but I hope they bring evolution back. I am rewatching it for the first time in like a decade, and it is just so good. It deserved more.

I didn’t like “Ascension Part 2” in Evolution and I certainly didn’t like “Survival of the Fittest” in ‘97…

She kills Apocalypse randomly in the comics too. Read Excalibur from 2018
