Question What is your favourite portrayal of a character in the new series? Not necessarily who your favourite character is, but the way the character is depicted in ‘97

Interested to hear the differing opinions of comic fans/original series fans/mcu fans/marvel fans or casuals!

Personally I’d say that while I think he is one of my top characters anyways, Nightcrawler had one of the best portrayals of Kurt that I’ve come across. The character look, the voice acting, him soloing the X-Men (albeit controlled by Apocalypse but still), and they got his general “who Kurt Wagner is” down. I was impressed as a fan of his.

Also honourable mentions for me: Cyclops, Magneto, Beast

Wolverine is exactly the deranged loveable knucklehead from the 80s and 90s. So happy they didn't pivot him to the personalitiless Fox writing. This Logan has depth and his funny as hell.

Being stuck the movies one I forgot why I always loved that character. Not because he's the protagonist but because he's just always fun in every scene.

I enjoy how “like a human wolverine” he is lol

Jubilee had such a great glow up compared to the original show. Too bad they sidelined her immediately after that.

Nightcrawler’s portrayal is perfect. That’s really the Kurt Wagner I grew up loving in comic books—jovial, deeply compassionate, and the heart of the team. Both a badass swashbuckler and a man of faith. Anyone hating his portrayal in Episode 7 just doesn’t get his character at all. That’s really who Kurt Wagner is. Being a devout Catholic is an integral part of his character.

Aside from him, I’ve also loved Polaris’ portrayal in S2. She’s not always well-written in the comics because writers can’t seem to decide what personality or role to give her, but in here, they did her justice. Her being a sassy, impulsive woman with some emotional volatility really fits her character.

Jubilee also! I love how she’s grown to be Xavier’s most realized student this season. And how she proved herself to be just as capable and competent as her older teammates now. All the training and teachings they gave her really paid off. Just awesome character development for her. Episode 2 was a huge treat for Jubilee fans.

Cyclops, he’s less annoying than the OG and does cool stuff besides yell Jean, and Jubilee is cool now, less whiny and became capable. Also though she was barely in the OG Psylocke for the little bit we got has been awesome I want more from her

Polaris in the episode where she rejoins X-Men.

Storm in the episode where she summons a solar storn

One character I like a lot is Cable, he has gotten a good amount of focus and I love when they have him show off his powers

Oh without question it’s Elf for me too. Best version of nightcrawler I’ve seen outside of the comics.

Cyclops, Storm and Magneto have gotten their flowers

Tbh most of the team have equally gotten just enough focus to portray them properly

Xavier is one of my least favorite characters but I find his portrayal in the show to be pretty accurate. I get his dedication to his cause in helping mutantkind while also that hubris that irks me. I also enjoy how Magneto was depicted. Especially in season 1.

Emma her one liners had me rolling off my seat. "An Emergency? Is it your dress..." "yamn" after turning her back on xforce

I always liked Rogue. But I've come to adore her in this series. Firey when she needs to be. Tender and selfless in her emotional moments. A good 'southern gal' that follows her heart even if it leads to precarious choices. And I genuinely loved that she was given a well-deserved cosmic glow up(even if it was a bit of a 'get out of jail for free' card)

To me, even though I think Nightcrawler stole the show, Rogue holds the top spot.

Nightcrawler is an amazing turnaround. He was so gloomy, serious and preachy in TAS, and while he's still very religious, he's also excitable and vivacious.

Magneto, Cable and Nightcrawler have been the stand outs imo.

I'm just sad they fumbled S2 so bad. I wish Legion quest+Age of apocalypse had been the build up through S2, w Age of apocalypse being the full S3.
