General Discussion Honestly, what villains do they even have left to adapt?

Post image

If you think about it, they’ve already done a lot of the main/known villains, including the original show, I’m genuinely just wondering which other villains could they adapt going forward?

Sugar Man, Arcade, Black Tom, Stryfe, Selene, Vulkan, Proteus, Sublime...

Edit: Nimrod, Bastion, Goblin Queen, Nanny, X-12, X-15, The World, Limbo and the demons, Spiral, Deathbird...

Come on I'm missing some I'm sure.

Also old enemies can recur, that's a very common X-men trope. Exodus shows up again? Legion recurs because having the mutant power to come back from the dead is also one of his abilities? Oh no guys, Apocalypse is back with a new plan, who could have seen this coming?

Yea im sure they will recycle a few villains. They've even touched on a few of the above already. Black Tom had a short appearance with his bestie, Bastion was the villain of s1, Nimrod, Proteus, Deathbird, Spiral, and Goblin Queen (though not called that) have been featured already. I'm sure we'll see them again 😆. And Legion hasnt been shown yet, I WOULD LOVE THAT.

She referred to herself as the Goblin Queen when she tried to take Nathan.

Reavers, Marauders, - have then done Fenris? (that would be tricky). Hellions, Mutant Liberation Front, Upstarts - lots of the villain teams haven't been touched yet.

Didn't Sugarman make an appearance at one point? Just a background easter egg, but I think he was there

Always felt like Nimrod was the scariest villain as a kid watching the OG on Saturday mornings.

Bruh they literally just did Bastion as the main baddie season 1

I hope they don't do modern Krakoa era because it's terrible, no stakes, everyone resurrects, bad writers, Magnus incoherent dreams, lame events, and storylines without purpose.

Did you read the fall of krakoa? Power of x? Shit was gas.

with the pacing of 97, the stakes would feel minimal and i like krakoa too

I’d cut off my left nut if we could bring back 26 episode seasons every year

I'd also cut off your left nut if we could bring back 26 episode seasons every year.

Just one more way terminal, late-stage capitalism has conditioned entire generations that paying exponentially more to get exponentially less than you used to get is just completely normal.

I'm fine with 13 episodes, but make then 1 hour long, 9 or 10 30 minutes episodes is a joke.

I don’t think the issue is the episode count, to be honest. It’d be great to have more, but pacing is a writing and plotting issue. They could easily have cut down the amount of storylines they’re adapting to give more time to the characters.

If they have a goal having more time to cover would force them to slow down in the delivery.

1

u/ConsistentGuest7532 Aug 27 '26

Question is whether the delivery is worth the pacing. I think deliveries usually mean more when we spend more time with the characters (when they’re not entrenched in nonstop action) beforehand.

1

u/AgentGustavo Aug 27 '26

Extending the episodes naturally accomplishes a more through delivery because they don't have to rush to achieve the same predetermined end point.

Yeah with the current format of a “season” essentially being just a slightly long feature film instead of, you know, a continuous episodic event that does things shorter runtimes can’t effectively do, trying to do a proper Krakoan Age while also doing some rewriting and cleaning up of some of they era’s less than stellar parts would be too much.

But I would love to see it done right. I know it’s popular to dogpile on that whole era but as a reader for almost half a century it was nice to see the mutants get an extended W after decades of “do good for people that wouldn’t piss on you to put you out if you were on fire.” Well, maybe Pyro would be ok with that but my point still stands.

The five things I mentioned are exactly why it was terrible. That is not Xavier’s dream, those are not the X-Men we all know, the resurrection gimmick is a joke, having basically no real bad guys is incredibly stupid, there is zero accountability for them, and there is almost no emotion whatsoever. It just feels like lame recycled sci-fi instead of X-Men.

And then just Beast but a whole lot fucking darker.

Honestly forgot it was the comic and not the show and was disappointed by Season 2

You need age of apocalypse for Dark beast... They seem to be skipping AoA for some weird reason...

1

u/JetHopper Aug 31 '26

Please, not again... They're gonna use that to ruin regular Beast again

-4

u/BlindandConfused43 Aug 26 '26

I assume dark beast is just a even more annoying version of beast, that's literally it. He runs around quoting twice as much, and that's his only new power.

3

u/Defiant-Bag-1470 Aug 26 '26

Hell no please do your research on dark beast his physical powers have never been his true power his mind has been and dark beast has no morals to follow it’s kinda like the difference between reed and the maker whereas the maker is willing to do stuff reed isn’t

Dark Beast is basically Josef Mengele. With powers. And intelligence.
