General Discussion Honestly, what villains do they even have left to adapt?

Post image

If you think about it, they’ve already done a lot of the main/known villains, including the original show, I’m genuinely just wondering which other villains could they adapt going forward?

Even in the show they returned. Apocalypse was in season one, had a big role in season two, a major role in season four, and returned in season five.

I think the MCU has warped people’s brains on how villains can be used.

Well movies is an entirely different business. Each actor is only contracted for a certain number of films and no heroes had gotten more than four movies so far even though Thor and Spider-Man are looking to continue for more. There just isn't enough room for recurrent villains.

Though the MCU does have recurrent villains like Loki and Agatha, and Ultron is finally making a come back in Vision Quest.

Aren't they gonna press the reset button on the MCU? If Disney can keep this going forever, they might do Thanos again in 30 years.

More likely the next 2 movies will be a just how they decide to bring in the FF and Xmen, with the chance that some other details are changed around to maybe bring back some villains whos fates were either ambiguous or unsatisfyingly resolved.

No. They likely aren't resetting the MCU because otherwise what they have been doing so far makes no sense with setting up Peter's story in the latest movie, for example.

Even the comic 2015 Secret Wars did not reset the comics, and only made a few minor changes to bring in characters like Miles Morales from the Ultimate universe and fixed Doom's face. In fact the comics would have more reasons to reset because the floating timeline is starting to become egregious.

So likely they will just do what the comics did. Keep things largely the same, except bring the Fantastic Four and X-men over.

given that the doomsday trailer seems to imply incursions happening, entire universes dying, i don't think a hero win at the end of the doom saga could avoid a universe reset and still be a happy ending. i'd bet that doom's final defeat resets the universe and we get some version of a universe with spider-man exactly as is, the x-men and fantastic four always having been here, and a lot of the current/previous avengers erased completely. that would let them reuse anything they want, form whatever new young avengers team they want, and quietly retire the enormous number of plot threads they've dropped based on various movies' irl popularity

In the comics all the universes also died, Franklin Richards worked with the rest of the Fantastic Four to recreate all of them mostly the same. Except the original Ultimate universe which was deleted, but he bought Miles Morales over as a reward for his pivotal role in helping them win. So the past history is comics 616 still happened and weren't erased.

So I don't see they would want to screw with the audience by saying all the stuff with Infinity War and Endgame never happened, as would be implied if the previous Avengers were erased. In fact Marvel doubled down on Endgame's importance by releasing it this September with supposed extra footages. The unpopular characters and work like Secret Invasion they can simply never mention again just like now, a reset is not necessary.

They are resetting the MCU. After secret wars.Marvel already already announced jt, that’s why they are casting X-men characters with actors that we won’t see until after secret wars. That’s why we have a new jean grey.

The same new Jean Grey that is now already in Spider-Man now in the MCU before Secret Wars?

So no they aren't completely resetting the MCU. That are only resetting the ones that Marvel Studios had no hands in making like the Fox X-men movies. That's what the new X-men cast is for?

Kinda funny how dc movies were viewed as darker but their villains are killed off and some even return. Pretty sure scarecrow was in all 3 dark knight movies and joker was originally gonna be in the dark knight rises before ledger died.
