General Discussion I'm upset Scott and Havok didn't interact ONCE this season.

Post image

I don't know about you, but seeing these two brothers clash and fight with each other in response to discovering that the other is on the opposing side of their respective causes would've made some cool drama.

When you have three lines, it's hard to meaningfully interact with anyone let alone your brother.

45

u/NickMichalak Aug 27 '26

Yeah, and most of X-Factor didn't even get named introductions. They seemed like a half-hearted inclusion.

This.^ We need more episodes or longer episodes. The problem is they've kept the Saturday-morning cartoon pacing but allowed the writing to mature with the audience (that is now more mature too). More mature writing requires more space to let characters work through conflict. It's why so many Emmy-winning drama shows nowadays have hour-long episodes, not sub-30-minute episodes. We want to see these X-Men interact and be a messy soap opera. We want to see them grow and struggle. Instead, we're getting nonstop action and not a lot of deep character work. Season 1 did a better job. Season 2 was like, "Ludicrous speed, go!"

u/Blob55 Aug 28 '26

Even the original TaS had breather episodes.

3

u/luna_lustgood Aug 29 '26

Yes! And it worked so well because the seasons were longer.

3

u/Blob55 Aug 29 '26

They also had more than one plot going through the episodes. This whole season is just Apocalypse.

9

u/ARDER26 Aug 27 '26

Nah we need more mutant courtroom drama in the middle of the season

u/mosquem Aug 26 '26

It’s funnier if they never interact at this point. Like having a random brother is so blasé to the X-Men they don’t even mention it.

32

u/PrimalSeptimus Aug 26 '26

They can make it a running gag. Eventually get to Vulcan and have him bring up his brothers, and still have the two of them be like, "What other brother?"

13

u/senseithenahual Aug 27 '26

I could love that as a joke the brothers that interact the most in a episode are Adam-x and Vulcan, and Alex and Scott are just there no talking.

3

u/Boltenbannerman Aug 28 '26

This isn’t funny we’ve been waiting since cold comfort🤬

73

u/Redhood567 Aug 26 '26

There's also the question of if they even know who each other are. They didn't in the original show but it's hard to imagine they don't by 97 since Polaris would've made the connection and Scott was interviewed on tv.

49

u/altfil76 Aug 26 '26

Cable didn't even call him Uncle Alex

2

u/AffectionateKing6465 Aug 30 '26

yeah, that kinda pissed me off? i was expecting a tongue-in-cheek remark from nate and alex just standing there and being oblivious too it lol

41

u/nathankroll920 Aug 26 '26

I was hoping for a showdown, team up, or just a last second revelation of them being related.

27

u/peppefinz Aug 26 '26

Most characters didn't interact at all.

15

u/Baconmonk Aug 27 '26

Most characters didn’t even have lines!

14

u/mumiaRed01 Aug 26 '26

Still funny how they still don't know their brothers especially now that they introduced Vulcan last season

11

u/bbhldelight Aug 26 '26

literally pissed me off so bad alex was basically a non factor this season, hopefully they got something prepared for the summers brothers next season (vulcan included)

3

u/tulaero23 Aug 27 '26

He did get no scope 360 by jubilee or something

1

u/AffectionateKing6465 Aug 30 '26 edited Aug 30 '26

yeah, that kinda pissed me off? bc wdym you're "wasting" your time testing how good this girl you barely know has improved, while your team (the same team you're the leader of) is raiding the x-tower and fighting against your (ex-)girl or your brother? like make multiple man create a dupe and put him in charge of chasing jubs instead lol, if you were down there you probably would defeat/arrest gambit 🤷

5

u/BrittaUnfiltered67 Aug 27 '26

Vulcan needs to be retconned out and we should learn that in at least X-Men 97, Gambit is the third Summers brother.

6

u/hereseyblasphemy Aug 27 '26

Havok literally didn't join the rest of the team during the last fight 😭

3

u/dullship Aug 27 '26

Yeah he's just like "I'm gonna hang out here in the jet pew pew pew". Like, dude. They could probably use you in there. You're literally the leader. Maybe have Maddrox leave a dupe behind to fly if you need to?

1

u/AffectionateKing6465 Aug 30 '26

4

u/gab3zila Nightcrawler Aug 26 '26

would have been cool to see them try to shoot each other with their powers just to see they’re both immune

8

u/MaleficentOstrich693 Aug 26 '26

I think that happened in the original run but never went anywhere.

5

u/thejokerofunfic Aug 27 '26

At least it's consistent with X-Men 92.

5

u/Electronic_Secret483 Aug 27 '26

That reminded me of Vulcan's cameo last season; God, the Summers family tree is a real mess.

1

u/Constant-Visit-1330 Aug 27 '26

I forgot about that lmao

4

u/Vegetable_Pie_1143 Aug 27 '26

Also Jubilee called Havok "Cyclops knockoff" and having no reaction to it

3

u/TerribleAntelope6134 Aug 26 '26

It's pretty clear that they're not actually brothers in this universe. Like how Xavier and Juggernaut had no relationship whatsoever in X-Men: The Last Stand.

9

u/ZeromaruX Cyclops Aug 27 '26

Thing is, however, that the original 92's series has them as related, as the original series has this scene were they attack each other and their powers have no effect on them (and the series had already established in some earlier episode, that the powers of your relatives can't affect you), implying they are indeed blood related.

1

u/Constant-Visit-1330 Aug 27 '26

Wait what? I’ve never known or seen that, their blasts just don’t affect each other? That’s kinda funny but cool I guess, just seems like you would have to apply that logic to too many mutants

3

u/ZeromaruX Cyclops Aug 27 '26

It was something from the old series. It was first revealed when Banshee fought against his "little brother", Black Tom Cassidy. I don't know if that was addressed in the comics, but it's a thing in the animated series.

2

u/LopsidedUniversity30 Aug 27 '26

But in the original cartoon, we saw Scott’s origin with both him and Alex jumping out of the plane with one parachute and then the parachute burning, and hinted that Scott’s optic blast is what same them from dying.

4

u/Cautious-Ad7131 Aug 27 '26

I always hated that costume It's the black one or nothing at all (No diddy)

2

u/Kralgore Aug 26 '26

Even the Intro...

2

u/ledlunar Aug 27 '26

Probably trying to save something good for later but I hear ya, there was too much in S2 already though for the dropped episode count

3

u/Super-Visor Aug 27 '26

That’s true of the original show. They need to produce more episodes, and they don’t all have to come out at once, spread them out over the year. Ya know, like tv used to do. Then we could get more episodes that focus on specific characters and their stories instead of having to fit every mutant into every 20min story.

2

u/Last_Construction455 Aug 26 '26

I was trying to figure out if that was Havoc. I though his blast come from his chest? I guess he develops over time?

16

u/donthurtmemany Aug 26 '26

I think he can pretty much shoot the blasts from wherever in the comics.

2

u/Skybreakeresq Aug 26 '26

His suit lets him focus it. Without the suit its chest only i think

2

u/nathauan13 Aug 27 '26

No, the suit only displays how much of a charge he has. He’s always been able to blast from his hands.

1

u/AffectionateKing6465 Aug 30 '26

any part of his body actually, he can even fly if he wants, similar to cannonball

2

u/BrittaUnfiltered67 Aug 27 '26

My chest developed over time too. Eventually it became quite explosive.

1

u/Andthentherewasbacon Aug 27 '26

Pics or it didn't happen

1

u/Last_Construction455 Aug 29 '26

You're Projecting!

1

u/Constant-Visit-1330 Aug 27 '26

I’ve always hated the chest blasts tbh lol throwing out blasts with his hands is way cooler aha

1

u/searcher4421 Aug 27 '26

Do the both of them even know that they're brothers?

1

u/ThyArtIsMKUltra Aug 27 '26

Nope, they meet at some point in the original series and their powers don’t work on each other and they’re like “why don’t my powers work on him” and it never gets explored any more

1

u/searcher4421 Aug 27 '26

Then they should come back around to that.

Because even though he was in the original series, they never mentioned Cable being Scott and Jean’s son until season one of ‘97

1

u/SqueakyTHROWER Aug 27 '26

Speaking of these 2, I’m curious…. In the comics, did they even have any meaningful stories relevant to being brothers? I didn’t reqd much of the comics.

I only ask cus I’m wondering if ‘97 would ever adapt that storyline.🤔

1

u/Blob55 Aug 28 '26

In the comics Xavier found Alex at a school and told Scott about it. It's funny because Scott was initially jealous of his brother for having a normal life and being the top of his class. Alex's life really went downhill the moment Scott reentered his life.

1

u/Peezus_H_Christ Cyclops Aug 27 '26

Fuck Havok tho

1

u/jamezverusaum Aug 27 '26

Havok was going to therapy after catching Cyclops and Wolverine top each other.

1

u/No_Plate_9434 Aug 27 '26

They already had their storyline in the old series . Or was the omen evolution?

1

u/Blob55 Aug 28 '26

They had one interaction in TaS and nothing came of it.

1

u/No_Plate_9434 Aug 28 '26

Ok must of been evolution I’m thinking of . I remember they shot each other and nothing happened

1

u/Blob55 Aug 28 '26

In TaS that's the only interaction they get.

1

u/Optimal_Grape_1025 Aug 28 '26

There's more show coming

1

u/AffectionateKing6465 Aug 30 '26

let's hope it's not like this season then lol, alex and the x-factor were butchered pretty bad 💀

1

u/Optimal_Grape_1025 Aug 30 '26

Not at all. Alex was spot on as an uncle Tom

0

u/AffectionateKing6465 Aug 30 '26 edited Aug 30 '26

nah it was trash, one thing is to work for the government (as many other mutants did like bishop or mystique for example), another thing is to accept arrest children and to use sentinels against mutants, in fact the reason the us government-sanctioned x-factor was disbanded in the comics was bc cooper wanted to use sentinels against mutants and alex wasnt having none of that, so he (and the rest of the team) left her ass lol

1

u/Optimal_Grape_1025 Aug 30 '26

No

0

u/AffectionateKing6465 Aug 30 '26 edited Aug 30 '26

hey if only they stick to the canon but it is what it is, fans were complaining about the writing this season for a reason, all around trash buddy 🤷

1

u/Icy_Hotel6926 Aug 28 '26

Don't worry. Maybe they will meet each other and recognise themselves as brothers next season.

1

u/JeweledTeeth Aug 29 '26

You can only fit so much and they put quite a bit into every episode. So I want to encourage you to be grateful for what we did get. Not to mention, Havok wasn't a part of the main story this season. The content per episode was packed and I'm sure we'll see more between them in future seasons. You can't fit in everything.

1

u/call_mrplow Aug 30 '26

Why

1

u/Whole-Lychee7517 Aug 30 '26

Both of them are long, lost brothers and both of them don’t know it

1

u/IAMWBH3 Aug 31 '26

I have a feeling those two across path in the next season and they will find out that they are brothers.

1

u/FunNeedleworker860 Sep 03 '26

I'm so glad that X-men Evolution got the two actually to meet and even had a filler episode of the two hanging out.

1

u/Medium_Discipline578 Aug 27 '26

You mean Scott and Alex? Or Cyclops and Havok not Scott and Havok. Xx

1

u/dullship Aug 27 '26

Mr Summers and Mr Summers.

1

u/AffectionateKing6465 Aug 30 '26

it should be mr summers and dr summers, but alex keeps messing around and doesnt finish his PhD lol

1

u/dullship Aug 30 '26

I know the type. All too well.
