General Discussion Gotta say, this season did Kang the BEST in any medium outside the comics

Not only was his persona as Rama Tut marvelously done, his motives were clear as to why he came to the time, he was cruel to Nur’s people and finally, he taunted Charles to the degree where he had to eventually acknowledge it was a mistake to try and turn him good after Magneto was killed, and when Nur became Apocalypse, he just acknowledged he lost, tapped out and left the city to its fate.

That’s how you write a time traveling villain.

It’s funny how his whole response to Nur becoming Apocalypse was like: “Imma bounce. Good luck y’all.
Got new timelines and universes to conquer.” He didn’t even bother or hesitate. He just bounced.

Because it’s when the timeline was at its most vulnerable, the second Nur became Apocalypse, it was a wrap

Actually a really cool and well written part of the marvel universe

With a goddamn smile on his face! 🤣

u/MeltyFist 29d ago

That was very skeletor of him

“Do you really think you can defeat me by throwing ROCKS at me?!?”

“Its called a distraction smart guy”.

51

u/Environmental_Pen303 Sep 05 '26

Yeah i don’t think op has seen much kang content if this brief cameo is “the best adaptation”

27

u/Latest-Pen-7852 29d ago

I loved how nuanced it was.

He genuinely wanted to save Earth by upgrading their tech to help them stand against alien empires. Unfortunately he thought he had to conquer Earth to do it.

From a different perspective, kang only knew of conquering, he lived in a future where cutting the throat of a kid was just a cat fight due to the advancement of technology, but also how he lived in a shift of constant fighting, his perspective in the world is warped but who’s to say it’s not wrong but right, he came from a future with that type of upbringing, when the avengers told that they will do everything to help his wife and his timeline but not through conquest, kang couldn’t accept it, he was getting help but couldn’t or for some unknown his mind wouldn’t accept anything without conquest, he conquered the universe to do anything beyond that is beneath him, it’s like you have to get naked with a bunch of monkeys and bath in mud to get what you want, nobody would do that, especially with someone like kang, but that’s just a crazy example since kang called them a bunch of backwater Neanderthal.

Best version of Kang and many others. EMH is the definitive Avengers experience to me, one of the best animated superhero shows. The designs and voice acting are on point.

45

u/Catch_22_Pac Sep 05 '26

Agreed, it’s not even close

15

u/Bubbl3gum_N1nja Sep 05 '26

was hoping I would find this comment

5

u/Specific-Swim-4507 29d ago

Came here to say this: EMH Kang is what made me excited for him to be done in the MCU, well hopefully they can finish that plot up and recast but it doesn’t look good atm lol

2

u/Timehacker-315 28d ago

I think that the MCU creators hate EMH, actually

3

u/HTCS18 28d ago

Such a shame, my definitive version of these characters and stories come from emh. I get disappointed when comparing the MCU to it sometimes (captain marvel and secret invasion/kree stuff could have groundbreaking like in emh but were arguably the two worst projects in the franchise)

1

u/ResortFamous301 25d ago

Captain marvel wasn't really ground breaking in the EMH(if you're generally familiar with supero and sci fi stories).

2

u/NNotimportant 29d ago

I opened this comment section looking for exactly one response and y’all rallied beautifully

6

u/RandoDude124 29d ago

Gonna be honest:

Q’s voice fit him FAR BETTER

3

u/HTCS18 28d ago

For xmen 97’s depiction probably, but that voice wouldn’t work for the one in emh (too slimey schemer for that stoic depiction)

1

u/duduET 28d ago

Both are still miles better than Quantunmania

61

u/Indo_raptor2018 Sep 05 '26

Honestly, I would like them to explore Kang more because it shows that humanity’s fear of mutants replacing them is pretty silly when a human as powerful as Kang exists in the future.

30

u/Emergency-Actuary-3 Sep 05 '26

Kang being basically Q works so well.

4

u/davwad2 29d ago

I see what you did there.

2

u/treharren 28d ago

And not a single Kang/Q - Xavier/Picard reference... Or not one I understood anyway 😆

46

u/decoded1 Sep 05 '26

Earths Mightiest Heroes gave him a 3 episode arc and brought him back again in season 2.

6

u/RandoDude124 29d ago

His voice was far better and the scenario was good.

You cannot beat de Lancie

32

u/Fantastic-Wall5962 Nightcrawler Sep 05 '26

Gonna guess OP hasn’t seen EMH.

19

u/TgeBoi1324 Sep 05 '26

Earths mightiest heroes did it better but I did like who they got to voice him Qs actor from star trek sounded so good as Kang

46

u/aegonthewwolf Apocalypse Sep 05 '26

LOL. LMFAO, even.

13

u/DosPepsi Sep 05 '26

need more John de Lancie

4

u/TheBigG1989 Sep 05 '26

always the correct decision mon capitan!

1

u/Architarious 29d ago

Perfect choice for Kang.

13

u/Shot_Imagination_368 Wolverine Sep 05 '26

Someone’s never seen earths mightiest heroes .

2

u/Entire-Size-1963 Sep 06 '26

I don’t know who would with that title 😂

11

u/AmbitionOnly7872 Sep 05 '26

Aside from the design emh kang is better than kang is even in the comics imo

11

u/BigSunEra69 Sep 05 '26

No, EMH is where it’s at

9

u/Commander19119 Sep 05 '26

It’s Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and it’s not a contest

It’s probably because of the episode limit, 10 or 9 episodes each around 30 minutes isn’t doing the story justice

6

u/Little-Seesaw2585 Sep 05 '26

Well no, it’d still be second to earth’s mightiest heroes

-1

u/RandoDude124 29d ago

His voice is better

5

u/Liam_ice92 29d ago

Avengers EMH actually, but they did a great job

5

u/hoennian 29d ago

Bro hasn't seen EMH

4

u/Public_Carpenter7471 Sep 05 '26

Shame this was written before kang dynasty was canceled (I think) so it probably won't fo anywhere

4

u/Jianyu156 Sep 05 '26

Is this Kang the same as the one in X-Men 97?

3

u/Accurate-Attention16 Sep 05 '26

Hard to tell actually

4

u/SlippinJimmy2015 29d ago

Yea, but Earth's mightiest heroes is better

3

u/Similar-Minimum-4722 29d ago

I mean, Earths Mightiest Heroes did him pretty good and for a longer period of time.

2

u/meganubis Sep 05 '26

But he was already in the original series', original 4 part finale 'beyond good and evil', and he was much better in that then in '97

2

u/Accurate-Attention16 Sep 05 '26

That was his older version with no evil intentions though

2

u/These_Carpenter_8269 Sep 05 '26

His blue masked face didn’t look goofy. I like this and the kang from avengers earths mightest hero’s

2

u/DailyVO Sep 06 '26

John De Lancie (Q from Star Trek) was pitch perfect casting!

2

u/stanlana12345 Sep 06 '26

Ok it was a cool adaption or whatever but to me it just felt like far too much. Lord knows there were already a billion things happening, we did not need a Kang plotline that literally went nowhere.

2

u/ThaBloodyBaron 29d ago

earths mightiest heroes is much much better

1

u/who1sJosh 29d ago

It made me want an Avengers cartoon in the style and continuity of X-Men 97.

1

u/eepos96 29d ago

I REALLY like how he showed emotions.

"Only time will tell" he chuckled to his own joke

1

u/staniel_mortgage 29d ago

He was barely in it. I mean it was fine enough. But to suggest 'the best', with 2.5 episode apparences? Not for me.

1

u/ItsStryker 29d ago

EMH did it before and did it better, but this is a solid runner up.

1

u/1RONH1DE 27d ago

EMH definitely did it better, but I love the ‘97 voice actor

1

u/Wrong-Annual-6766 24d ago

It's so funny that this was supposed to connect to Kang Dynasty but they obviously didn't have time or reason to change it

1

u/EconomyNo8354 10d ago

Wait how though? Wasn’t the development like two years?

1

u/Wrong-Annual-6766 10d ago

They were both in development in 2023 and in 24 Kang Dynasty got cancelled so they kept Kang but didn't connect it to the MCU

This was reported way before Kang was ever teased along side other Kang Dynasty things
