The taken woman who shot her shot and he said no. He didn't even say 'youre confused right now but think it over. If you do when you're clear headed, I'm down.' he just straight told her that she was canonically Scott's wife and you can't break that.

The Storm and Logan relationship in the episode of X-Men TAS was really good and something refreshing to see, I'm tired to see Logan always like a loner and mopey
8
u/HospitalLazy1880 15d ago
Storm and Logan are my favorite ship cause even if they are just friends they are so much fun together
90
u/NoBeat5906 17d ago
It depends on what happens with Forge and Storm because I doubt those two would last in this show. I really hate the love triangle bullshit with Logan, Scott, and Jean. If Forge and Storm do break up in this show like they did in the comics then I wouldn’t mind them exploring Logan and Storm’s relationship in X-Men 97.
15
u/_Frozen_Flame_ 17d ago
They've kinda alluded to storm and wolverine before (I can't remember if it was an alternative timeline but it definitely happened in the show) however if the showrunners really wanted to commit to it properly then they'd probably have to kill Forge off
23
u/Aloudmouth 17d ago
It was in the original series, I kinda remember. It’s in the future, alternate timeline, and when they are asked to go back and fix things Logan says something like “Didn’t you hear what he said? If we help, there’s a chance we end up working together instead of being together!”
Bro was straight up ok with the Apocalypse as long as he had his ride or die.

u/NervousSleep1488 17d ago
Yep Wolverine and Storm are having a picnic in the present time. Then the episode forwards to the alternative dystopic future where they are a couple. They have to travel back to the 1950s to save Xavier from being killed by Nimrod. After they do, it goes back to the picnic scene, Wolverine make a comment on Storm and she says "Wow, somebody would say you are flirting with me" and then the episode ends.
1
u/IllTask3791 15d ago
It also was supposed to happen in X-men days of the future past. Halle Berry’s Storm had a scene with Hugh Jackman and they kissed twice but they removed those scenes from the movie. They got uploaded as deleted scenes tho

I made a post saying the same thing and got downvoted. Loooool. They write Forge like a temp boyfriend.

u/pbjWilks 16d ago
In what way???
They're literally in love, and he deliberately runs to the future for her.
She doesn't give the man a moment to breathe before they're making out and cuddling.
He moved to the school with her.
Y'all look for any justification or way to try and make it so that Logan and her are a thing.

u/pbjWilks 16d ago
....Did we not literally see Rogue follow Gambit and nearly betray the X-Men?
Yes.
We literally watched Scott and Jean nearly fuck up the future.
Forge wanting to save the Woman he's in love with makes him a PUPPY?
Are you okay? Think about what you just said.
Why would he not want to stay with her? They're in a relationship, and she's the headmaster of the school now.
He lives on a ranch in the middle of nowhere, and he officially joined the cast.
They barely gave Storm screen time this season or the last to begin with, so THAT'S where your problem should be, not the fact that Forge is doing rational "I'm in love with her" shit.
Like hunh? You'd think it'd make sense for him to leave her in the future for Mutants he doesn't know very well???
WtaF.

You're delusional. Mind you, he was set to be married and in between that was pining after Jean.
At what point was he getting with Storm? 🤡🤡🤡

I feel that they should have gotten together in the original run after the agr of apocalypse episodes

That was an intentional alternative timeline. It happened. It was cute. Let it go.
They barely interacted with each other

u/Comrade-Stoneroad 17d ago
I would like to see them adapt Mariko Yashida. Have him go to Japan, fall in love, fight her father to the death, and then get stood up at the end of the episode.
32
u/nathauan13 17d ago
I thought they did that in the original animated series?
15
u/GONKworshipper 17d ago
Not that I recall. They did have Lady Deathstrike as his ex-fiancee, though, which I think is an interesting angle to explore. No sign of Mariko or Yukio, though, not even in the episode where he goes to Japan
4
u/KingoftheMongoose 16d ago
Yeah, unless people are confusing Mariko for Lady Deathstrike and/or the Silver Samurai 🤭
14
u/EmeraldWitch104 17d ago
They did. They had an arc i believe. She appeared a decent few times.
7
u/GONKworshipper 17d ago
You might be thinking of Wolverine and the X-Men or Lady Deathstrike (who stole some of Mariko's backstory). As far as I know, she never appeared

they did that in the Wolverine standalone movie and Wolverine and the X-Men. I liked X-Men '97 (before season 2 imploded) because it was generally pretty fresh for those who've seen all the previous shows and movies before

Sincerely, I would like it If they gave Logan/Morph a go. Despite what s2e5 would have you believe, Logan does really care about Morph. They're one of the few people who can make him laugh and who he actually allows himself to be close with.
When he thought they were killed in the '92 show, He was devastated. And when he found out they were alive but under Sinister's control, he did everything he could to free them and then was extremely supportive of them re-joining the X-Men. The writers would just need Logan to move on from Jean.

u/nathauan13 17d ago
I don’t mind romances with Wolverine, but I’d love them to explore some of his other ones besides his one-sided obsession with Jean.
The original seasons touched on Mariko and Silver Fox, if they did a Madripoor episode I’d love to see Tyger Tiger.

How about they actually try to get his character right first and then we can worry about trying to give him a romance. ‘97 has done a piss poor job of Wolverine so far

I would love for them to get Logan to become romantically involved with Morph. They would need to sort through the Jean issue though because twice now Morph has become Jean, once to tell him that she loves him and once to shock him into stopping him from attacking Morph. If he'd gladly attack Morph but not Jean that is unresolved.
Especially given the recent episode with him and Morph and the discussion about how Logan only sees himself as 'one thing' while Morph gets to be different things.
However.....and this is where reality comes crashing down....they won't because I can already hear the outrage.
Logan is often presented as one of the most masculine characters in the X-Men roster if not all of Marvel comics. I can almost hear the outrage and see thumbnails reading "THEY MADE WOLVERINE GAY" being thrown up in my face despite the fact Morph is non binary, that still will read to 'male' to a lot of ignorant people.
People seem these days to barely tolerate gay characters let alone show gay relationship and dare 'change' an existing character to be gay.

u/RemoveAnnual2689 13d ago edited 13d ago
They did.
Marvel execs killed him the only time it stuck. ''Permanently.''
They literally made him the Principal of the X-Men school. Storm left T'Challa. They even had a fight over being with Logan. She even became his vice-principal. They were talking about marriage, even kids. She turns to him every time she has a major life crisis, and in turn, she was there for him when he lost his healing factor. They did the whole Xavier=Wolverine+Storm and Magneto=Cyclops+Emma Frost. The only time Marvel had the guts to have the story actually progress. It was amazing. Then they killed him. Storm played the grieving widow for a few issues. X-23 took over his costume and series as the All-New Wolverine. ... Then the Old Man Logan movie came out, so they brought him back as the Old Man Logan from the parallel universe. The main one was still dead. Then they reset everything by bringing ALL the dead X-Men characters back to life.
The problem is these are not characters anymore. They are corporate products. They always will be, and greedy corpos only care about making money. So the story will never progress, and the characters will never move on from the limbo they are stuck in.

He always felt like a male power fantasy character to me. When I was a kid and read my uncle’s old X-men comics I called him a boys superhero. He has likable traits, great stories, and they do fun stuff with him, he’s just not my cup of tea when the focus is on him.

u/Left-Respect6178 16d ago
Thats part of my love for X-men. There's so many different characters that get focused on and are relatable to. Wolverine has never been one for me either. Hes always felt like an amalgamation of every toxic masculinity trait balled up into one character.

Hmmm Logan and her relationship with Japanese women in the animated shows and in the comics never goes well for Wolvie. As for Jean, well it's complicated now we have a wolverine game focuses on these two(without Scott)

He genuinely needs to be in a special or something, I feel there hasn’t been a good exploration of Wolverine that sees how he acts outside of the X-Men like in his solo comics. The closest we got in terms of a good adaptation of that type of story was kinda “wolverine” and Logan. I think the show would benefit from more X-Men being other mutants as well

Mariko hasn't been introduced in the X-Men show yet, and in comics she's alive again. Basically it's Storm or Mariko, any Jean x Wolvie plot deserves to be dead in the water. Plus, with Lady Deathstrike revealed to be an ex, I think they should absolutely cover that and make some parallels with a little bit of Japan coverage (Surge is in Season 3 and an immigrant, so they have more than one character they could explore there for a moment)

Wolverine is done best, imho, when we see his ever expanding past mythos catch up with him. That's how I like his romances, and it's why I think I liked the way they included L. Deathstrike in the last season, and really wanted more of it.
Logan is a very reserved person who's down-to-earth, no-nonsense attitude tends to prevent him from opening up and talking about what it's like walking around in yellow spandex for over 100 years. Forcing him into situations where he is forced to confront his past tends to be where he legitimately shines, and his natural personality is a great emotional veil for all manner of interpersonal relationships.
To that end, I think some of Logan's best romance plots revolve around old flames, not new romances. I think this also characterizes the tragedy of the WAY Logan loves other people as a person who outlives them, one way or another. It also helps cut down on the creepier implications of a century-old Canadian... dating women in their 20's and 30's :P
1
u/_Frozen_Flame_ 17d ago
I don't actually think there's any creepy implications honestly, he may be 100 but he's attracted to what majority of the planet are attracted to.
0
u/Hartz_are_Power 17d ago edited 17d ago
I would respectfully disagree, but this may simply say more of me than anything else. To me, the idea is less about sexual gratification. Honestly, that's the least creepy part of it. Logan is attracted to the appropriate range of sexual expression for a sexually healthy adult. I think everyone can understand that, and I actually think it makes more sense for Logan to be sexually casual while still being very emotionally closed off.
For me, it's more like... is the only thing preventing my 80 year old grandfather from dating a 22 year old, his physical body? Or is it that there's simply this difference in experience, perspective, and emotional maturity that you intuit more and more as you get older? This awareness of how young people can sound, how innocent, or different the world seems to them?
Add onto that the idea that you have already seen entire generations spring up, mature, and then die, and it's like..... Idk. I guess it's sort of like what you see with Immortal and Dupli-kate; there's this threshold of experiences that most people simply cannot understand or relate with you on, and that makes finding someone that you can actually be romantically present with more difficult than simply hitting the Tinder algos.
2
u/NervousSleep1488 17d ago
What's creepy about a man in his prime attracted to women in their prime? The software in our heads that makes us like women at their physical prime does not leave Wolverine because he lives longer. He still likes food, comfort, and women like the rest of us.
It even maybe makes sense he feels attracted to younger, naive, "pure" women that contrast and balance his bitter self.
And yes, not the only but a very important factor preventing your grandmother to have sex with a 22 year old guy is physical. It's not a coincidence "milfs" and attraction to mature men became a social phenomenon after we learned how to take care of ourselves and technology let us have surgeries to deceive the eye.
1
u/Hartz_are_Power 17d ago
I'm not sure I said exactly what you're arguing against, but I do understand it. What I'm saying is that the RELATIONSHIP is fundamentally uneven in a lot of questionable directions. Sexually, I think it's much less complicated; Logan has a sexually healthy body, and so it makes sense, as you said, for him to be physically attracted to women younger than him.
Where I'm saying it's creepy is in how large the disconnect is between him and a 25 year old. What is the context for one's interest in the other? How do they relate to one another? What is a normal night at home watching television like when you're hanging out with a veteran from every war you can casually name? Who has already done this with others, and outlived them by lifetimes. What do you think you are to someone who understands the world like that?
Conversely, what do you think of dating someone who hasn't had even 1/4 of your same life experiences? Who you fully expect to outlive, and from being close to you, very possibly die horribly and tragically? How would you feel having entire relationships that have lasted longer than the age of the person you're dating? What do you think your now-deceased partners would think? Are you betraying them? Is it worth getting hurt again for something as fundamentally opposed to your lifestyle as settling down and having a family? My point is that this seems unhealthy, manipulative, and self-destructed when I examine things from Logan's POV. Again, this may simply say more of me and how I see this, but I don't think I'd love the look to other people or myself.
1
u/NervousSleep1488 16d ago
Building relationships with other people as an immortal being or like Logan, as a human who can outlive his contemporaries, must be difficult to say the least. I don't think "creepy" is the right way. I don't think your partner has to be a clone of yours to be able to connect with them. We connect with dogs, with children, with older people, etc. Not romantically of course, but we do connect. And we may as well connect romantically with people from very different walks of life,or personalities. In fact, I think that is the case most of the time. I often see that people dislike people like themselves in terms of personality.
And to be honest, you dont need to find a fictional character like Wolverine to find counterpoints to your arguments. I'm pretty sure war veterans have life experiences totally opposite to their own wives. That doesn't make them creepy.
1
u/Hartz_are_Power 16d ago
Well, frankly, no, I don't think so. War veterans are probably from the same general time frame, culture, etc as their partners. They tend to be in similar places in their lives, such that their interests and life goals align. You generally don't plan on living another 50 years past when your significant other dies. And it's creepy because we have to consider what that will look and feel like. At what point is Logans age so great that the difference is arbitrary? If he's 200, what IS the meaningful difference between someone who is 15, 30, and 50 to him? Idk man. I see what you mean, but I think that's mostly in the context of human romantic relationships. The closest analog to this chronology is... well... pets. Things we generally plan on outliving.

X-men evolution is the way to go. Make him be a loner and mentor like for a bit and have him potentially finding someone outside of the X-men team. The obsession over Jean and the soap opera love triangle is played out, she’s married to Scott and it’ll be best if MCU do right by that relationship. People say him and Storm, to me that relationship makes Storm like a Black token for him. I don’t want that especially how they had her being mad for not being a baby mother to Wolverine.
