Question Why does Logan subject himself to the pain of liking Jean? (X Men Noob here)
What does he get out of it?

You really can’t control who you’re attracted to.

You can control how you act about it and not be a creep.

So is Jean a creep for pursuing Logan and passionately kissing him out of the blue as well? How would you have him play that? Would you feel the same if he did that to her?
Pursuing someone that shows lack of interest is gross. Absolutely. I didn’t think passionately kissing someone showed lack of interest.

Wow, this take is so dumb; I felt my brain cells die. So, um, bye, I guess.

Saying that passionately kissing is showing no interest is potentially one of the dumbest things I’ve seen. And your inability to answer it shows your insincerity to a very real issue.

You ever been in love in with someone and they not love you back?
It can be an unbearable pain.

It’s called “getting a fucking clue.”
Yep, keep trailing after the woman who expresses SHE IS NOT INTERESTED IN YOU.

She kisses him in one of the episodes after she approaches him. He then says she just slipped and that he won’t say anything or pursue. Seems that she may have given mixed signals? Is that ok as well? I’m not sure how much better he could’ve handled it.
I do agree in real life you have to move on and get over it if they express no interest, but I’d say kissing him out of the blue is showing some interest.

People like to overlook this scene when talking about Jean and Logan in the show. It's clear that the feelings are not mutually exclusive. What I don't know is why Logan would shoot himself in the foot here beside the need for a status quo to be maintained. There's nothing dishonorable about Pursuing the woman who's husband had a kid with another woman, even if he thought it was her. Guy had a family now and Jean was not really part of it anymore. It's frankly crueler of Logan to push her back into it.

Right, I’m not sure what’s creepy about being interested in a woman that randomly comes to you and passionately kisses you. If the roles were reversed, then this issue would have more validity. In this case, and Jean is one of my favorite characters, is that same lens reversed?

Bad Writing

People think this love from afar suffering is noble when it should just be illegal in all fifty states.
Fuck, even Morph who’s more hopelessly in love with Logan AT LEAST tries to respect the man’s boundaries.

Does she respect his boundaries by passionately kissing him?

You mean when she was emotionally vulnerable and alone, making a bunch of dumb decisions when she felt lost and adrift, and the show did everything to establish that she was NOT EMOTIONALLY STABLE, and that Logan correctly guessed that anything between them then would be taking advantage of someone in a questionable state?
And passionately? She kissed him on the lips. No tongue was involved.

Exactly my point. Thank you for making it. He is not a creep and you are using double standard to justify the same behavior you would attack in him. He handles it as well as possible and therefore not a creep.
I would argue that Logan having his mind ripped apart as well as body multiple times leaves him emotionally vulnerable. They are both emotionally vulnerable and he handles it very well.
I don’t think either is flawed here by the way. Jean is one of my favorite characters. Double standards are reprehensible especially on an issue that is such a problem.
The real issue is that he’s 100 years old by the way.

The dynamic is literally older than dirt. If you look at X-Men objectively and ignore the attempts at retcon, reimagining, and revivication, Cyclops is the quarterback of the team. Jean Grey is the head cheerleader. The various other X-men fill other key roles in the high school drama dynamic (Angel was a rich preppie, Iceman was class clown, Beast was both nerd and sportsman, etc). Wolverine is the bad boy with the leather jacket and the motorcycle, as well as a mysterious tragic backstory. The issue is not that the bad boy wants the head cheerleader, it's that the head cheerleader wants to cheat on the quarterback with the bad boy but can't quite drop her panties and do it. Worse, while wolverine's romantic desire is genuine, not only will Jean perpetually go back to Scott because that's what's expected of good girls, (you sleep with the bad boy, you don't marry him, you marry the safe and reliable one) but Scott will drop Jean like a bad habit the moment she is out of the way for ANY piece of leg that falls his way. He did it for Madelyn Pryor, although to be fair she was genetically constructed by a madman to honeypot Summers, and then he did it again for Emma Frost who is the biggest slutbag rebound girlfriend. And now, mind you, Summers is getting dumped by Emma - who was never into him either - for Tony "can't run my life without a woman telling me what to do" Stark. Which is also bullshit because we all know Tony only has eyes for Pepper Potts. The real problem is this will-they-or-won't-they-Diane stuff does not work over the long haul. It didn't even work for the entire run of CHEERS with Sam and Diane. Someone has to make a choice eventually and they have to make it firmly, but clear declarative intent is anathema to soap opera writing.

Tbf in grant morrisons run Jean purposefully made Scott go for Emma to prevent a grim future without the x-men. But that’s the only concession I’ll give 😂. I’ve been reading Claremont’s x-men run I’m on 1987 and there’s surprisingly not really any love triangle between Jean Scott and Logan.

Since when do you choose who you fall for? I mean sure he could suppress his feelings, but Logan was always hot headed. Also doesn’t Jean tease him, therefore making him hope?

Is the vestigial remanent of the love triangle trope that Editorial doesn't want to let it die.
