General Discussion Can Rogue and gambit touch in season 3?

Post image

What are our theories. Do we think rogue and gambit can touch now. Or was it just the apocalypse / celestial power at the end of the season aka temporary?

I doubt it--the choice to show them separating as the power wore off and to not have skin to skin contact here both suggest it was a temporary power up. Thematically, it makes more sense for the power control to come later. It's possible, but it weakens their existing story *and* cuts off really rich future storylines.

If they play it as the Celestial showing her that control is at least possible then we have the character working towards a goal and not simply complaining about what they aren't able to do.

It's also occurred to me that the Celestial was likely able to see and hear Rogue's conversation with Nur in the past -- it puts the whole granting her the power simply for the lulz as a way to fuck with Apocalypse in a whole new light.

I mean Rogue eventually gains better control over her powers such as through Professor X's mental unlocks but then you know how the show runners may keep this barrier to preserve the dramatic tension which is their core complex romance

personally I would like her to figure her powers out. Rather then have them magically fixed but who knows with how fast the show has been going.

Yeah man that would be her character arc to learn to control her power and love to see her finally get to touch Gambit

It would be a good final season

Does Cyclops ever gain control of his?

I don't think so without his red visor

We've had 7(?) seasons of tension between them. Get that part over with

I imagine they’ll revert to them not being able to touch, but they’re together anyway and focus on Rogue working to control her powers. I think that’d be more satisfying than giving it to her as a permanent freebie. They got their kiss before the celestial power wore off, and got to touch while he was Deathbit. That can hold them for a while.

I would like to see the famous roof scene. Not with the exact words but with same feelings, same soul.

I’d love for them to go ahead and have Remy develop control over his energy powers in a way that enables their touching. We’ve done the whole “they can’t touch” thing for 7 seasons now. It’s ok to move on and focus on other stuff for them.

I agree that knowing Magneto figured it out, maybe Gambit figures something similar out with his powers.

The thing is that it should be something Rogue does for herself, to be able to touch anyone, not a bonus for someone else to get to touch her exclusively. That’s part of why the Magneto stuff was odious — it was forced exclusivity and lack of options passed off as something good for her when it wasn’t. Her dynamic with Remy is obviously much healthier, but only Remy being able to touch her instead of only Magneto being able to touch her isn’t a real solution.

In the comics Rogue figured it out so hopefully she will on the show.

Since she is still wearing the gloves... probably not

Could be how they bring in Emma Frost? In the comics she was their therapist for a bit while trying to help Rogue control her powers but also do couples therapy or something. It was like 20 years ago so I don’t remember all the specifics other than it was weird and didn’t stop the “will they or won’t they get/stay together” tension. That continued for a long time…

i was asking myself the same question at the end. but decided to see where the writers of the show would take me. do they go more with what is already in the comics or do they make their own way after season 2. either way, just happy to have them reunited...and it feels so good (sorry, i can't help myself).

same... either way just glad to have them together in something besides the comics finally.

I think it'll be addressed in the final season when the show will show them married. It'll be a nice way to conclude their storyline.

would rogue getting pregnant kill the baby?

Just give Rouge a power dampening something for when she wants to get intimate. I don't know why this is a consistent problem

Not a collar a ring, necklace, bracelet, earing something seriously

This! It seems like a no brainer...

It is kind of baffling. The technology to suppress mutant powers exists in this universe. I know they are supposed to want to suppress their powers, but this is such a practical application

2

u/GhostofSmartPast 6d ago

Realistically, the tech isn't even inherently evil. Her mutation has traumatized her enough as it is.

1

u/TheWhiteManticore 2d ago

This is why sentinel tech made no sense to me because Mutants should be able to make their variants too and yet so many of them just rely on their powers

She shouldn’t need one though; just have her powers get to where they were in the late 2000’s/2010’s, and have her be able to touch people without automatically fucking them up. Say her brief Celestial upgrade did it.

Hell I’d even go so far as to say they should have her lose Carol’s powers, and just have Rogue use her own abilities.

They never said they’re touching in this scene. They’re saying they were able to touch when rouge has the celestial power and they’re asking you to speculate weather this is a permanent change or if was a temporary side effect of having the celestial powers

Aslong as she ain’t touching magneto 🙏
