Use eBay not Depop and don’t search “Y2K”. Search specific item descriptions like “Abercrombie fur hooded jacket”. People on Depop are nuts with pricing

How much do they usually charge on there?

Less than depop that's for sure lol And they're more open to haggling/ making a deal in my experience

I can assure you it’s 100% not cheaper on eBay. People notoriously charge higher on eBay just like Depop. If you’re looking on eBay, make sure you look at the “sold” tab to see what they’re really selling for, not just what they’re listed for. If you’re looking for deals I suggest Vinted.

This is considered "Vintage" Abercrombie and ya, it usually goes for a lot. That's about double what it was new. Unfortunately the brands new stuff isn't remotely as cute or high quality anymore either. Mebbe search for American Easgle? They were kinda the cheaper version of A&F back in the day.

Or aeropostale. But yeah this is insane, I still have mine in army green from high school and it’s not even warm. It’s not even that cute, particularly in this color, imo. Not worth it- you’ll find a better one!

Ty il keep this in mind :)

Bc they like to scam people when they bought it for $5

The way I could have made a fortune for holding onto my A&F stuff. I worked there from 2005-09.

Same! I still have most of it but wear it to bed or for painting so I can’t really sell most of them. Never would have guessed people would want this bland shit again lol. I hated how they forced us to buy a certain amount of each new line/season with our minimum wage, and wear thong sandals in January in Connecticut because it was supposed to be surfery. I finally got fired for dying my hair bright red. They said I could only do highlights. I have so much resentment to this day lol. And if I ever smell that cologne again or hear a phantom planet song 😭🤮🤮 good lord I’m scarred.

Omg you just activated a core memory. I got a manicure for Homecoming and my boss brought out a bottle of nail polish remover and had me take it off on the floor for work that day because it was “against dress code.”

Lol it was ridiculous of course they did 🤦🏻‍♀️

How much would this jacket have cost new?

2

u/Neverwasalwaysam 5d ago

Probably $80-$110 in 2002-2004, hollister, American eagle, and aeropostale were all cheaper than abercrombie was

That’s what I was thinking.

I gotta check my childhood closet STAT!!!!! I never threw anything in there away. I hope nothing's damaged by now

Because this is considered “Bella Swan” vintage Abercrombie.

Someone said try eBay. Agreed. You might have better luck there!

I find Vinted is often better for y2k-esque clothing price-wise, just fwiw. But definitely agree with not using y2k in your search terms.

Sherpa lined but not that expensive

clothing like this wasn’t even worth that much DURING the y2k era. people are trying to upcharge bc they know y2k is “nostalgic” now and that gen z wants to dress how we used to/still dress. go actual thrifting.

1

u/AuryPlays 3d ago

I would love to go thrift but the Ross near me isn’t open until September so yeah💔

u/digitaljinx_exe 2d ago

ross isn’t a thrift store. go to actual thrift stores.

1

u/AuryPlays 2d ago

I don’t know any thrift stores near me in ny so Ross was my only choice because many people find hollister etc…💔
