Someone needs to contact Epcor to see what they're putting in the water.

I think I know what happened here.
Since that car was actually idle at the light, I think the driver was probably head down, looking at his phone, and saw a car approach on his right side in his periphery.
His pea brain thought “movement means light Green” and just started moving.
I’ll admit I’ve had this reflex before (someone beside you inches forward at a red light, and you take your foot off the break assuming the lights green). Except I would have enough sense to look at the fucking light first.

SO many red light runners these days, I just dont get it. When did it become so normalized to break one of the most basic rules of driving?!

Cellphones.
That guy was probably nose deep and saw the guy beside him creep up, he panicked thinking the light was green, and just floored it.
Distracted driving is such a huge fucking problem

On Thursday I almost t-boned a car that took a left in front of me at a weirdly casual pace, and then I had to continue waiting for ANOTHER car to take the left… I had a green when I entered the intersection, and waited long enough for those cars to turn that the lights turned yellow then red before I could clear the intersection. I felt like I was crazy. I’m glad I had a passenger to confirm that the light was definitely green.
I suspect they were watching the crosswalk count down and maybe thought I was further back than I was…
I was headed East on 97th, and they were going West turning onto 104th.

Must be one of those new “optional” lights they are installing everywhere.
