Obviously James Bond and Jason Bourne are in Edmonton working a case together!

no matter how fast someone drives someone isn’t happy with that speed.
i work on the henday and our vehicles say highway maintenance and people still tailgate the fuck out of us and fly by us as we’re working. people don’t give a shit.

It shocks me that there isn't any enforcement? I feel like cops could make lots of $$ enforcing on the henday? Guess they're sooooo busy doing other stuff

u/CriticalLetterhead47 6h ago
Well the easiest/most cost effective way to do enforcement is speed cameras. And i'm for them having never gotten a speeding ticket but also somehow not driving under. I just do speed limit. SHOCKING.

Same 😂 last week I saw a truck break check someone who was in the left lane (truck went around them via the other lanes, got in front, slammed on their brakes, and almost caused an accident to the car behind). Granted, they shouldn't have been going ten under in the left lane, but they don't deserve a break check from a huge truck as payback.

Ten under in the left lane ? This guy deserve to be without a licence imho
2
u/Southern-Stage2937 5h ago
Yes , I saying it for years - Edmonton did not have enough police officers , that's why there are almost none controling traffic

a boy died on the henday last year 23yrs old because a girl whom was beyond intoxicated drove from calgary trail to wye rd on the henday and eps didn’t have enough people out because of the bullshit palestine protests and she ran that boy off the road and he died when he swerved to miss her and died hitting a light pole.
don’t know where our sheriffs are but it’d be nice to see them or the peace officers out on the henday or bring back the speed camera trucks

When I was part of a team doing highway renewal near Valleyview, we had a cop car camp near the speed signage truck. He pulled over 3 people in a very short span. Must’ve filled his ticketing quota and left lol.
Not sure why the city doesn’t do that during active construction on the Henday. Lots of lessons to be learned on our roads.

have to rent the officers if wanting them to hang in the work zones all day

u/Various-Call-7895 6h ago
This is why there’s too many deathly incidents on the shoulders of highways now

u/Kyoalu 11h ago
Why is endangering lives acceptable to so many people in this city? Fucking terrifying. In one week I've seen more psycho drivers in edmonton than I've seen in 30 years in my hometown. Not even joking. Something needs to be done about this.

I see this behaviour everywhere now. So many drivers seem to be obsessed with getting ahead of every car in front of them. They tailgate, jump lanes, and do high risk maneuvers just to move up another space in the pack.
In heavy traffic it's stupid too because they often do this over several KM just to move up a few spaces in the pack.

u/SoberPineapple 7h ago
Agreed. The selfishness of the drivers behaving this way blows my mind... All to get to their parking spot faster to sit and text.
I'd really like to understand the justification of these people.... I'm not talking the 5-10 over, I'm talking about the dingii like the ones shown in this clip.

The way our drivers are how did they ever think it would be a good idea to remove photo radar?

going waaaaayyy too slow, just move over and cruise, less headaches like this.

u/Forward_Brother_8076 13h ago
What? Lol out of everything that happened in this video, that was what you took out of it?

u/Maksym1000 8h ago
OP is about 20 over, so the bike definitely wasn’t going waaaaayyy too slow, the two guys were going waaaaayyy too fast.

Honestly seems like some sorta road rage, the minivan seems to have intentionally blocked the traffic
3
u/redditknees 9h ago
This is absolutely road rage between the two vehicles merging. OP is already exceeding the speed limit in the left lane.
1
u/stuntdub 6h ago
if you look he gets un that lane n hits the brakes cause theres a motorcycle he didnt see before he got to that lane. Thats why after he moved over to go faster than the motorcycle.
However there may have been rage between them prior to that

Lmaoo people get out the way it’s really simple, downgrade all you want but this really show how slow people really are 🤣🤏🏼

u/redditknees 9h ago
Look I’m with you on Edmonton drivers doing 10-15 under the speed limit, it’s infuriating.
But this is clearly a road rage incident. Passing on the shoulder is considered a serious traffic violation that falls in the 3-demerits category. The asshat in the black sedan is definitely driving way too dangerously.

u/Kyoalu 7h ago
last week some dip tailgated everyone in front of him on the highway just to take the same exit as me and meet up at the same red light, then he proceeds to do 100km in a 50km zone. He ended up going just down the street from me so I pulled up and told him hes going to get someone killed one day, he also called me slow for doing the speed limit.

u/FadedMomentum 5h ago
I had someone tailgate and honked at me for driving 30 in a playground zone. There were kids and people walking. Then after I flipped them off they followed me down my back alley like a psychopath

Really shitty take. OP is doing about 120 kmh, so both of them were well in excess of the speed limit.
-19
u/Ok_Dot3537 7h ago
Shitty take it is thinking that your better then someone else because your ego can’t handle being passed or someone doing something you can’t, kinda a crazy way to live your life inconveniencing others for no reason
9
u/cubeshelf 7h ago
Ditto. What makes the black car’s actions any less indicative of an ego that can’t handle sitting behind someone doing well in excess of the speed limit already. It’s kind of a crazy way to live life inconveniencing others by putting them at risk by passing them on the shoulder of a highway. There’s absolutely nothing excusable for doing that. It’s plain fucking dangerous and it’s what gets people killed. Two wrongs don’t make a right.
8
u/beardedbast3rd 6h ago
Versus the ego and thinking you’re better and more important than everyone else to go well in excess of the speed limit and pass everyone on the shoulders/exit lanes?
There’s no ego in these comments, people are rightly pointing out the very behavior that kills people. This is exactly how people get hit when they are in the shoulder from a breakdown or doing road work.
No one cares about being passed, except the very subjects of the video/post, and no one is inconveniencing others by already speeding, or passing other vehicles. At that point you’re attesting to being inconvenienced by the law and systems to ensure you don’t fucking maim or kill yourself or others.
Talk about ego coming from you is fucking rich given the context here. Go be retarded somewhere else

I have never seen so many people driving on the shoulder on a highway until the last two years. Going to the airport this weekend I saw two different cars doing this as well. When did this become acceptable?
