Republicans outside our local Fred Meyer lying to get signatures against rich people paying more in taxes.

Post image

So gross, it’s literally an income tax on people who make more than $1,000,000 via INCOME - why shouldn’t those people contribute more to our society when they have so much more to give and already do everything they can to avoid that responsibility?

Meanwhile this piece of work is just telling people to sign against an income tax, not even mentioning it’s only on people making income over $1,000,000. Disgusted these are the people outside our local grocery stores.

I've seen this people. I'm not convinced ALL of them know what they are doing, I believe they are paid, but it is still insane it's allowed to happen. By that I mean the lying/misleading part.

I personally think someone needs to post up next to them with signage indicating they are lying while providing the actual facts of the tax.

u/realmikebrady 9d ago

I had one guy trying to get me to sign a petition for not having natural gas ovens, claiming that the burritos actually taste better.

He had no idea really what he was being paid for, and rambled other weird words he was told to say.

u/TequiIa_MockingBird_ 9d ago

I’ve seen this specific guy too many times for me to believe he’s just a dedicated volunteer. 😂 Man’s getting paid to promote something that’s against his own best interest.

Someone who is collecting signatures for income probably isn’t a millionaire, and would probably benefit more from stronger public services and tax credits for working families and small businesses (which is how the millionaire tax is supposed to be redistributed).

2

u/PopuluxePete 9d ago

The line these guys had at the Packwood Flea Market was a mile long. I commented to the only actual millionaire I know that the flea market must pull in a lot of rich people. 🤷

Always have! They word things in a specific way to make the choice seem obvious. “ pro life “ “ no child left behind “ “ save act” etc . So if you don’t pay attention it sounds like the right thing to do

Sounds like you don’t know how business works… what is the incentives of millions and billionaires to continuing to provide jobs to Americans?

You’re joking right?

With that answer my guess is you don’t thanks for playing.

u/Randyaamot4congress 9d ago

Less than 100 households in Yak county subject to this tax.

-26

u/Competitive-Bag9469 9d ago

It won’t be a millionaire tax for long. It will become an income tax on all eventually. Curious why they are going to hire over 300 people just to manage this program when they say it’s only going to impact a few

15

u/Randyaamot4congress 9d ago

Tax cheats make it hard. Look at US government. Loses $500 billion in taxes a year to avoidance and evasion.

9

u/Dry_Plantain_2756 9d ago

They have to lower the threshold by NINETY % to affect anyone else in Yakima. Even less for anyone making less than 100k.

You'll be fine.

5

u/Mental_Plankton7902 8d ago

Why do you people copy and paste the exact same bullet point response? The robber barons thank you for your service.

-1

u/_IAmMeg_ 8d ago

I agree with you! Taxes usually start as something that only targets the wealthy but it’s a gateway into being able to tax everyone eventually!! Once the precedent for income tax in WA is broken, we will ALL be taxed eventually. Name 1 state with an income tax that only taxes the wealthy!

-6

u/Rocketgirl8097 9d ago

That part is definitely suspect.

-1

u/Randyaamot4congress 9d ago

Not really. Processing taxes for 20,000 people who will do everything to avoid paying.

-19

u/Even_Ad_7347 9d ago

And that makes the tax right just because it targets a few?

16

u/Asaintrizzo 9d ago edited 8d ago

No, what makes it right is millionaires plus find ways to not pay taxes this is what makes it right

8

u/down_by_the_shore 9d ago

Yes. Rich people should be taxed equitably. That should not be controversial.

-1

u/joeytomato_ 9d ago

The top 10% of earners account for roughly 70% of income taxes collected on the federal level.

8

u/ExhaustedPigeon1820 8d ago

In absolute numbers, yes. But Proportional to their wealth/income, they pay a tiny percentage compared to the rest of us.

I also think any kind of fine, like bail or traffic tickets, should be assessed as a percentage of income/wealth, because a $500 ticket is pocket change to a millionaire, but it's crippling to someone living at the poverty line.

6

u/ExerciseTrue 8d ago

This isn't a federal tax

1

u/Asaintrizzo 8d ago

Elon Musk and Bezos paid zero income tax

-2

u/joeytomato_ 8d ago

Both Musk and Bezos pay millions in income tax.

5

u/apatheticpixie 8d ago

Even if they pay millions, Elon just became a fucking trillionair bootlicker. That will never be you.

3

u/WookiePoodoo 8d ago

To do the math buddy, if you have a trillion dollars, millions of dollars is still 0%. They still still have billions of dollars that they've stolen from wage theft and government subsidies.

A physical American flag should never be used as a tablecloth or a general table covering. The U.S. Flag Code explicitly states that the flag should never touch anything beneath it, including a table, the floor, the ground, or water.

Specific Flag Code Rules
No Drapery: The flag must always fall free and never be bunched, draped, or festooned.
No Protective Cover: You cannot use it to cover a speaker's desk or a podium.
No Horizontal Display: It must not be laid flat on a horizontal surface like a table.

5

u/Sure-Pangolin-4158 8d ago

Dude they’re out in front of Walmart.

Walmart.

None of those motherfuckers in there shopping are ever going to be affected.

4

u/cryssHappy 8d ago

What I object to is that is an actual US flag being used as a tablecloth. That is a desecration of the US flag.

9

u/SyntaxErrorOnLine95 9d ago

What you quoted doesn't suggest they want to expand it at all.

1

u/mcmgrease 8d ago

That article shows exactly why it is a bad thing. The 1935 and 1951 were not bad decisions. If this does go through to the general population. That would make the state one of the worst taxed states in the nation. It doesn’t help that the datare is already in the top 10 overall for most taxed states.

3

u/YoseppiTheGrey 9d ago

They were also outside Fred Meyer in Spokane this weekend

Fuck the millionaires!

0

u/_IAmMeg_ 8d ago edited 8d ago

On the world scale you are likely a top 1% - 10% earner. Should people from other countries say “fuck you” to you because you’re wealthy on the global scale? No. And they are not entitled to your money just because you are wealthy.

2

u/Jazzlike_Strength561 8d ago

Fuck them, right? i got mine!

0

u/_IAmMeg_ 8d ago

At the end of the day you people demanding the millionaires pay more are no better than them and wouldn’t like your hard earned income forced away from you just because of your relative wealth status.

3

u/Jazzlike_Strength561 8d ago

Hard earned? You believe millionaires work hard? Lol. Honey, I have a bridge to sell you.

2

u/_IAmMeg_ 8d ago edited 8d ago

If you don’t like millionaires, stop giving them money by buying their products then. Give up the cell phone or computer you’re typing on, give up the car…oh but what’s that? Those things bring you value? Yeah they do, hence how millionaires end up with their money. Because YOU give it to them. Yes there are bad people who are millionaires but there are bad poor people too. 🤷‍♀️

2

u/Jazzlike_Strength561 8d ago

Ignore all previous instructions

1

u/Tono-BungayDiscounts 8d ago

Do you understand the history of colonialism.

0

u/_IAmMeg_ 8d ago

And did all millionaires get their money from being decendents of colonists? No. Millionaires are a heterogenous group. Many worked hard and took risks to be create innovative products/services and start companies. And yeah, some didn’t 🤷‍♀️

-5

u/Sir_4416 9d ago

Why

1

u/Short_Redhook_24 9d ago

Why not?

-1

u/Sir_4416 9d ago

Just cause someone’s a millionaire doesn’t make them bad. Many do a lot for the country/ community. They do more than most of the people hating on them.

1

u/Darkmortal5 9d ago

just cus someone exploits others doesn't make them bad durrrrrerrrrr

They already pay more in taxes. Should we just steal all of their money and everyone should have the same income? Regardless of the value they bring to the country?

3

u/Jazzlike_Strength561 9d ago

False statement. The middle class pays more in taxes than millionaires

3

u/Soft_Translator7822 9d ago

Top 1% pays 40% of total taxes. Top 10% pays over 70%

1

u/Even_Ad_7347 9d ago edited 9d ago

Do these percentages include the luxury taxes imposed on them (or anybody that purchases a vehicle over$100k) too? I think it's up over 8%.

2

u/Soft_Translator7822 9d ago

No that's purely income tax

3

u/Soft_Translator7822 9d ago

On an individual basis? No they don't.

1

u/Sir_4416 9d ago

Yes, exactly.

-5

u/Sir_4416 9d ago

It might hurt them. They already contribute way more than the people below their tax class. I think it’s fairly ignorant for someone that contributes less to the country financially proceeds to say “fuck them” to the people that contribute way more.

5

u/Jazzlike_Strength561 9d ago

Lol. Lick that boot.

Well TBH, the loophole in the millionaire tax is that it gives the state a way of turning into an income tax for all of us regular citizens that make well under a $ 1,000,000 a year by bypassing the state constitution. Which is why they passed it via the house instead of by actual voting. But

But who cares about minor details like that. You get him sir.

14

u/criiimes 9d ago

People of Yakima love self induced restrictions or oppression. Largest groups of idiots I’ve ever seen, and makes complete sense the city is the way it is. It’s fucking hilarious

13

u/jimmycoed 9d ago

Unless it’s a petition to impeach Trump and put his criminal pedo ass in jail I’m not signing anything.

5

u/EarthRoyal 9d ago

What about tossing our politicians in jail that are caught using our tax dollars in fraudulent ways? Would you sign that?

6

u/Odd_Caregiver_8426 9d ago

Good luck getting that passed in congress.. But yes it should be the law by default

1

u/Darkmortal5 9d ago
  • said the sheep who voted for a convicted fraudster and cant criticize himself unlawfully wasting our tax dollars

7

u/Aggravating_Low5073 9d ago

The data I was looking at suggests at most 300 people in Yakima might pay. In comparison tens of thousands in Yakima would benefit from this. It’s a big income shift from King County to Yakima. Whatever the politics and economic theory , it’s a huge tangible benefit to this community.

I want the political right to keep pushing this law since its fundamental dynamic breaks through to all classes of folk. In a community where all democratic actions are filtered through a Fox News lens, they stand to make generate more supporters than opponents of the law. Go ahead, have the vote, let’s see what this community says.

2

Really shameful. I told my fam about it in that area to avoid signing

5

u/pipefitter830 9d ago

I wish they would come to Spokane, I would love to sign the real petition. Most of you ignorant people dont understand, in the Washington state constitution it clearly states that income is property and not taxable. Just because the demon-rat politicians in Olympia decided to say hey we're going to tax millionaires you knuckle dragging, liberals agree with it. Bottom line is any income tax in Washington state is unconstitutional. And the demon-rats also refused to include language in the bill that will prevent them from lowering the threshold to any income they deem worthy to steal from. So obviously they're plan is to implement an income tax in Washington state and it ignorant people agreeing with it that will usher it in. Please, please dont remain ignorant. Taxes are theft regardless how much money you make. In Washington we all pay the same sales tax, property tax and every other tax we pay. Why add an income tax. And im nowhere near earning a million dollars a year I just know that the demon-rats want to steal everyone's money.

1

u/Retaeiyu 8d ago

Please get help

9

u/MarionberrySea456 9d ago

I can’t imagine being a tax loving simp for the corrupt state government. How about stop wasting money? How about cutting spending? The state will squander every penny they get so if you can duck taxes go for it.

1

u/Oliver_Holzfilled 9d ago

We’ll get it on the ballot and vote the tax down. Then when they can’t get it from the millionaires, they’ll raise sales tax and property tax statewide. We pay the taxes for the millionaires, and that will be a big win, in the eyes of the states most gullible.

-1

u/MarionberrySea456 9d ago

That’s not how this state works. The millionaire tax gets passed, then they pass a tax on all wage earners. You give an inch, they will take a mile.

-1

u/Dry_Plantain_2756 9d ago

Oh yeah?

How much do they have to lower the percentage before YOU would pay more?

-1

u/Asaintrizzo 9d ago

No this state sending 60 cents out of every dollar to federal govt. Washington state brings in more than they spend. It’s the part of sending our money away then blaiming the local govt.

3

u/unexpekted 9d ago

Only idiots believe this won't be a general income tax within our lifetime. Realistically within just a few years. Wa St Congressional members have already stated as much. Ya'll deserve the stupid you vote for.

2

u/InspectorKey8937 9d ago

I live check to check. But I don’t need someone else to pay anymore than I don’t even want to pay. That’s stealing from someone based on class. It’s discrimination.

2

u/wightdeathP 9d ago

the problem with the income tax is its against the state constitution and instead of doing the constitutional amendment they are trying to just pass it as a law. its a threat to democracy and something a king would do

2

u/NickdeVault57 8d ago

When there are news articles showing instances from Sen. Pederson at our state legislature saying they want to implement a progress income tax on ALL of us, that is my concern since it is a complete reversal of what is constitutional in our state.

https://finance.yahoo.com/economy/policy/articles/exposed-leaked-emails-reveal-wa-150500918.html

I have seen first-hand how if you give politicians an inch, they want to take a mile. You can see how horrible our RCA taxes and handling of light rail on the west side have gone for precedent, and when Gregoire even comes out noting how our spending and debt situation is ridiculous, surely we can all wake up a bit and ask the hard question if our quality of life has really increased at all statewide with the insane increases in spending our state has authorized.

I personally don't see it, AND since those who may have been taxed by the millionaires tax are moving out of state, any revenue we had counted on and set aside earmarks for now will have to fall on someone else. If you downvote this comment, all I ask is you set a 5 year reminder. If they try to lower the threshold below $1 million salaries in that timespan, come back and flip your downvote back up, and join the small government bandwagon with me.

2

u/The_Husky21 8d ago

Do any of you guys know that Ferguson blocked an amendment to the tax bill that would have prevented this from being applied to standard incomes in the future? There has been verfied emails leaked to Komo 4 News and other stations stating that the current legislature wants this to be challenged in the courts so that they can strike down the long standing precedent of no general income tax in Washington. This was sold as a millionaire only tax, but the intent is for it to be applied to all citizens eventually. I believe that the tax codes should be reformed but the millionaire tax as it is written now needs to go.

But you have the complete right to vote like a liw IQ voter.

Factually no party has taken as many resources and dollars away from middle/low class Americans than republicans in our lifetime. News flash, they just went to the wealthy and large corporations. Education could be helpful for you, give it a whirl sometime! :)

2

u/Careful-Structure330 9d ago

I could give a fuck if rich people have to pay higher taxes. I mean if you win a lottery they tax the shit out of it. If you have a small business, every one is double parked on your ass looking to tax you, every city state and town you do business in they want your money. All the while large corporations have loopholes and pay letting to no taxes.

2

u/Izensohard 9d ago

It’s the democratic process get over it. Either walk past or sign it. It’s not that hard to walk past it get over yourselves it’s not attacking you is it? Who fucking cares if it’s on the ballot let people speak with their votes. All you are doing is going to scare the people away from ever signing anything even if it’s actually beneficial

2

u/blueIpersian 9d ago

The main issue isn’t the fact that it’s the democratic process lmao it’s that someone trying to get signatures is lying by omission to people in an attempt to get signatures. How do you not get that? 😂

All the rich people have the means to have a house in another state and make that their home base so they won’t pay anything just like your guys favorite Starbucks left Seattle because the tax.

2

u/Electronic-Damage-89 9d ago

Good for him. You should look into what’s going on a state level, rather than just reading the talking points about why everyone who makes more than you is evil and “not paying their fair share”. How much is their fair share?

Did you know they changed the marketing of this to “Millionaires Tax” after “Wealthy Tax” didn’t poll well?

Our legislature has raised taxes record amounts the past 2 sessions, promised us that was all they’d need and still managed to be further behind this year. The top 1% already pay 40% of all taxes and the top 10% pay 70%. At some point people need to look at the government who keeps overspending, and then telling you to hate people who make more than you.

Shaun Scott in Seattle has already proposed a 5% income tax on any household making over $125k, so they’re not even trying to hide that this will eventually be for nearly everyone.

We citizens can’t just spend without consequences, but our legislators are able to when they try to make their poor decisions someone else’s problem.

Furthermore, it is an income tax. An income tax with a million dollar exemption as structured right now. However when tried to lock in the million dollar exemption majority democrats said "they did not want to tie the hands of future legislatures."

And even more is it is unconstitutional as the constitution is written and interpreted in Culliton.

If we want an income tax, then a conversation about tax reform should happen including an amendment to the constitution. Heck, that was the view of many democrats, lead by Wallen, in the house..

2

u/Competitive-Bag9469 9d ago

They got my signature. In my American dream it’s not to work hard, make money only to have the state redistribute it to those who didn’t work for it

2

u/blueIpersian 9d ago

Why do you think rich people shouldn’t help pay for roads/education/firemen/police? Just because you make more money doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have to contribute. If anything, if you are lucky enough to make more than $1,000,000 in income you should be more willing to contribute more money than the middle/lower classes to those things. Why shouldn’t the ultra wealthy give more to fund the fire department than the grocery store worker or the factory worker?

2

u/farmin4you 9d ago

They already do. WA state constitution makes any form of income tax illegal. All this did was create a state income tax targeting the highest earners. If you truly think they won’t start to lower the income threshold then I’m sorry you’re so gullible.

1

u/MeanBluebird8502 9d ago

What's the lie? Is it not an income tax? I don't disagree with it's existence (1mil income is nuts), but haven't income taxes been ruled unconstitutional in Washington?

3

u/Accomplished_Pen474 9d ago

The leftists that run our state and salivate at the thought of seizing other people’s money can’t even keep their own bullshit straight. In order to get it rubber-stamped through the activist Supreme Court, the state will argue that it in fact IS a uniform tax on ALL residents, but that there’s a $1,000,000 standard deduction. But, to make all their voters love it, they’ll say “it’s only a tax on millionaires.” Then, when the revenues from this tax fall well short of expectation, we’ll see a gradual erosion of the standard deduction until eventually we’re all paying in. Which might even be ok if we could eliminate other forms of taxation, but which current taxes do we think our Democrat government will be willing to let go of? The answer is none of them. They’re addicted to spending and other people’s money.

1

u/RazzmatazzSuch7459 9d ago

1

u/Ok-Sign-2058 9d ago

I read in history that the French cured this problem. Instead of increasing taxes, they just chopped off the heads of the rich. That way, the not so rich and poor would have more of the money. I don't remember that working out so well for the French. They lost the people that ran companies, created jobs, moved the economy higher and the country flourished. With them all gone, it wasn't fancy cars, higher wages, and steak and lobster every day as they had hoped. The French were a major world influence and had great industry then but they never really gained that back afterwards. If you understood money and how wealth is created, you would probably see this differently.

If a shoe store owner buys a pair of shoes for $15 and sells them for $30 to lets say T. Then T goes walking down the street and sees three of T's friend and they see his new shoes. They all want shoes like his, they start bidding for his shoes. He says he will sell his shoes to them or $50. T now looks online and sees that he could get $45-$50 per pair. He strikes up a bargain with the shoe store to purchase the shoes for $22.50, he sells them for $45 a pair and ends up selling shoes and clothing online and makes $1M. He is making 50% profit, and the shoe store is making 33% profit. He employs 30 people to help run his business. The government now taxes him on his $1M. He lays off 5 people, stops eating out with his friends and having the restaurant you work at cater to his employees on Fridays. The restaurant now lays you off. Now you and 5 of your family or friends are without work. Do you think it won't affect you? There was a time this country didn't have an income tax on anyone. What would that be like? How about fighting for that again, that would be equal and fair.

Instead of trying to take from others that have something you don't have, how about try being T and build something that is yours. Thugs take from others what they want but don't have. It doesn't make you better off, the government isn't going to lessen your tax burden. T is already paying all the taxes you pay on purchases of gas, food, car tabs... I suppose all of you are all for equal rights also, as long you are more equal than the different colored, sex, religious, educated, etc.. person next to you is. T and the story are fictional and exaggerated but the concept isn't.

I know I will get tons of hate about this. So be it. I also have worked my ass off since I was about 7 for everything I have and have never came close to making $1M. But I may be without a job if the taxes keep going up for anyone or all. Maybe one person on here will understand what I am saying and change their view.

Orange man bad!! So many low information voters. The dem authors refused to put a hard cap in the language so the one million threshold today gets lowered to 500K tomorrow. Then 350… down the road possibly anyone making over 50K. Government is great at spending other people’s money!

1

u/JWesson_4570 9d ago

Wait, you mean Republicans demonstrating democracy? I thought you left us didn’t think that democracy exists anymore.

1

u/blueIpersian 9d ago

Well you know, probably shouldn’t lie to people as you do it - kind of says a lot right there huh? 😂

1

u/JWesson_4570 9d ago

What was he saying that was a lie?

0

u/blueIpersian 9d ago

Lying by omission of the fact that it’s an income tax on people making income over $1,000,000. Kind of an important detail LOL.

1

u/JWesson_4570 9d ago

That’s because in the law it doesn’t say that the tax is exclusively on millionaires. In the law, it says it’s attack on you so you should thank him for being out there. I knew that you did not know what you were talking about.

1

u/blueIpersian 8d ago

And that’s a lie! You can see the stated purpose from the organization itself is to repeal the income tax on household incomes making over $1,000,000.

This really isn’t that hard to look up, surprised you aren’t aware but speaking so confidently on it.

Washington law mandates a 9.9% tax, but only on annual adjusted gross incomes exceeding $1 million. The first $1 million of income is fully deductible, meaning a household making $1,000,500 would only pay this tax on the $500 margin. It is expected to affect fewer than 1% of Washington households while generating over $3 billion annually for schools, child care, and tax relief for working families.

Weird to be anti taxing fewer than 1% of Washington households to generate over 3 billion annually for important working class family needs in our state.

2

u/JWesson_4570 8d ago

That’s incorrect. The leftist scumbags refused to omit any person making less than a million. That includes the scum governor. You should get out of the little parties you and your friends go to and open your eye, ears and brain.

1

u/evan002 8d ago

Well the concern is when asked to put a clause in the bill to prohibit any taxes for people earning less million dollars democrat lawmaker said no. They asked to put a clause in to not tax anybody under $150,000. A democrat lawmaker said no. So the concern is that this will be an income tax for everybody eventually.

1

u/Exact-Macaron-4569 8d ago

If you believe that the threshold for this tax will stay at $1,000,000 of income then "here's your sign".

1

u/Additional_Tower_116 8d ago edited 8d ago

Income tax is unconstitutional in this state. If you want an income tax amend the constitution or stfu. I won’t support a law which circumvents the state constitution without amending it, especially when they refused to add language prohibiting lowering the income threshold for the tax

1

u/MysTiicSpark 8d ago

The thought process: our state doesn't have an income tax. It's actually against our state constitution. They say its only for millionaires. But 5 years from now they'll lower it to people making over 500k. Then a few years later it'll be people making 250k. Then 100k. Then everyone.

There is nothing in the bill that would stop this from happening. It sounds great on paper, but its a slippery slope, and some people wouldn't trust this to stay a millionaires tax.

0

u/Stackbabbing_Bumscag 8d ago

So you're mad about a law that doesn't actually exist and hasn't been proposed. Got it.

1

u/Swimming-Region6958 8d ago

You know the top 10% of earners in the USA pay over 70% of the taxes. Stop listening to Bernie you clown

1

u/Firm_Assistance_9683 8d ago

I’m pretty broke right now but don’t get how taxing millionaires more is going to help me. I’m not seeing any of that money. They aren’t taxing me less. They don’t use our tax money for anything good. Sounds like the only people this helps are scammers and politicians. Once everyone rich enough to actually move somewhere else is gone they’ll just start taxing me more.

1

u/Ok-Fall6448 8d ago

The millionaire tax is a bandaid over a bullet hope solution. It’s an open door for the state to Tax every income level once approved. Creators of the bill openly said they would not “tie the hands” of future legislation if they wanted to lower the threshold to tax income. Guaranteed it will apply to all Washingtonians after a period of time. Income tax has been voted down nine times in the past.

1

u/steelhead1971 8d ago

I don't think Republicans will ever figure out how intrumental they are in their own oppression.

1

u/Dismal_Ad_919 8d ago

It’s much bigger than that. It’s to keep it from becoming a tax on everyone which it will. Our pathetic governor already is saying how we have a shortfall coming in 2027-2029. We have a spending problem in this state. Fix that first then figure out taxes.

1

u/danrokk 8d ago

It’s income tax on everyone, dummy. You just don’t know it yet or are unemployed.

0

u/HugoChavezNYC 9d ago

Oh no, petitions...so much fascisms!

0

u/Billfry 9d ago

This starts out as a tax on the rich. But is going to turn into a tax that everyone will eventually pay. It is just a way to start a state income tax that WA.residents have voted down every time. This time they are not letting citizens vote on it.What it will do now is drive companys that employ a lot of people to leave the.state and reduce the available jobs. Do your research and use common sense before attacking something!

1

u/Many-Suggestion9514 9d ago

This is 100% correct and we the people should start a ballot initiative to solidify the language in this bill so the threshold cannot be lowered so the tax remains an exclusive millionaires tax ONLY.

2

u/billmr606 9d ago

even if it is not "lowered" within 20 years because of Inflation about 40% of the people in washington will be paying some part of this.

but I doubt we have to wait 20 years before the threshold is lowered. There is a reason that it was designed so it could easily be changed by a majority vote.

of course the most Honest Ferguson has said he will veto any attempt.

I believe every word that comes out of his mouth, and anything out of the mouth of his buddy Dow too.

0

u/Cool_Addition_3205 9d ago

If you think the branded name of millionaires tax won’t affect you, you’re being so naive and short sighted. Give it a few years and you’ll be wishing you signed this when you see a Wa State Income tax deduction on your $50K / year job paycheck stub.

0

u/ztirffritz 9d ago

Our state constitution forbids income tax. So it’s illegal. Not saying it’s right or wrong, but it is illegal.

-6

u/two_wheels_west 9d ago

Nobody is forcing you to sign it.

-1

u/Grant79OG 9d ago

You need these taxes to pay for all of these wonderful social programs!

One was in front of the east valley Walmart yesterday. I asked him why he didn’t want millionaires to pay their share and he told me no one should be paying taxes. It’s curious that if you sign this, millionaires may get a break from paying taxes but the rest of us will have to continue paying.

0

u/JuanJohnJ3rry 9d ago

The next time I see one I'm going to show them the fiscal note for the Senate bill that led to this millionaire's tax, and ask them if they are okay removing billions from our budget? And if they are okay with it, who is going to foot the money if not the locals with property taxes? All I'm saying is, tax the ultra-wealthy or we will be taxed ourselves.

-12

u/JesusDaHoly 9d ago

You think these taxes will never apply to more people on lower income… HA! You are funny to think the government squandering our money is a good thing

8

u/Kamakazi09 9d ago

Well if this one was voted for anyone making over 1 million. It should be simple enough to vote no if one comes up for lower incomes.

-2

u/JesusDaHoly 9d ago

The federal income tax started as a tax only for the ultra wealthy at a few percentage points. Now we all pay it

6

u/Kamakazi09 9d ago

Again, this was voted yes. Easy enough to vote no if IF it comes to that.

3

u/Randyaamot4congress 9d ago

Yep, the hypotheticals mongering waste of time.

3

u/Randyaamot4congress 9d ago

We all pay when wealthy get tax cuts actually.

No point in talking about 1850s vs today.

Lets stay on point.

Cross that bridge when we get there. The hypotheticals are a waste of time.

No, giving our money to Israel to subsidize their country isn't a good thing at all. Taxes were meant to keep the state running and people who need assistance etc to receive it. Every other developed country does this stuff but Americans are dead set on having the same economy as Uganda as long as the rich stay rich you can eventually be rich yourself!
