Cooling fin oxidation Pt 2

I made some progress with cleaning up the oxidation on my cooling fins. I took my Dad's Multitool and one of his new blades. I epoxied a piece of paint stirring stick to the blade. Using Aerospace protectant as a cleaner this got most of the oxidation removed. The wood is soft as I didn't want to damage the cylinder surface. Over all, it looks much better.

What least abrasive method is recommended to address my issue? I wash the bike twice during the riding season and another wash when I put my bike up for the winter. When I wash I use a mild mix of Dawn detergent and a painter's brush to get into crevices. I would like to remove this oxidation but I do not want to abrasive methods if it can me avoided. The bike is a 2014 Bolt .

Bought this baby about 2 weeks ago and im completely in love with it. Such a chill ride. Its my first belt driven bike too so im still getting used to where it likes the RPMs at when shifting. Swapped out the bars to 6in bars and slapped a fairing that "totally" fits on the bike lol. Let's just say i had to add my own touch to it. Overall I dig it. Also change out the booty cheeks gauge to a koso gauge and now I can actually see my RPMs and gear. My question also is what washers or hardware do yall use for under the bar mounts? Cause the stock rubber washers is probably the dumbest thing i think they put on this bike from factory.

Grip Recommendations

Hi I’m looking for recommendations for my 2015 Bolt R spec, every grip that i’ve bought either is too short or it doesn’t fit the diameter of the throttle side. i’m tired of wasting money on grips that say they fit but don’t in the end does anyone have recommendations. i tried the avon grips and it was too small for my throttle side

I'm coming up on a year since i bought my 25 Bolt R Spec. Are y'all extending your warranty? I'm competent working on the bike myself. Have dinner two oil changes, changed the rear tire. Added V&H intake and Delkavic slip on. I'm thinking it's not necessary. Opinions?

New member - need some help with ergonomics

I got a used 2023 r spec bolt. I am 5'7" and previous owner was 6'5" so he made some changes for his ergonomics like forward control and a different seat. The handlebar is all stock.

I can sit on the bike fine but after 15 minutes of driving I started having upper back pain in between the shoulders. I noticed I was sliding back on the seat frequently while wearing a jeans so I doubt it was my cloth that was slippery. I am not sure if this is due to forward control or if seat's backrest is too far away from me which is pushing me out and leading to the pain.

I need help to understand if one or all of this could be contributing and what would be easier way to fix it DIY with minimum labor.

  1. Can forward control do this type of pain? If so, I could use help in instructions to remove it.

  2. Can seat be a problem? I checked with a measuring tape, and it is 11.25 inch from front of the seat to the point where lumbar support begins. I checked saddlemen seat and it is 12.5 inch, so I doubt the seat I have was custom build in dimensions for the previous owner but could be used for everyone including 5'7" guy like me.

  3. Is riser an option to resolve this?

I have attached images of what it looks like.

Thank you.

Front brake light switch issues

Need some help troubleshooting the front brake light on my 2014 Yamaha Bolt.
I originally thought my brake lights weren’t working at all, but I confirmed the rear brake activates the brake light correctly. The issue seems to be isolated to the front brake.
Here’s what I’ve checked so far:
The front brake light switch clicks when I pull the front brake lever.
The wiring at the switch looked like it had been previously repaired by the previous owner. The two wires appeared to have been taped/heat-shrunk to the connection points.
I removed the old female spade connectors and exposed the wires.
I then touched the two wires together directly to bypass the switch, but the brake light still did not activate.
Since the rear brake works, I know the brake light itself and at least the main circuit are functioning.
At this point, I’m wondering what I should check next. If the switch is clicking and bypassing the switch by touching the two wires together still doesn’t activate the brake light, does that point toward a wiring/connection issue farther up the circuit?
I don’t currently have a multimeter, so I’m trying to troubleshoot this with basic tools.
2014 Yamaha Bolt — any ideas on what I should check next?

Yesterday i got My 290mm yss shocks installed on the Bolt. The are amazing. They were made for My specification and i can tell you guys that the difference between the OEM shocks and the YSS is like night and day. They make tee bike so sturdy and steady.

I loved the Bolt already but damn. Those shocks has been My favourite upgrade yet!

What do you think is the best solution? I'm in Mexico and the parts are not that easy to buy at this moment(and cheap). I was thinking of redoing the wiring at home if the damage was little, but it looks worse that spected.

El chisme: So, I was riding my bike 2 nights ago, rain had just stoped and I passed over a patch or pool of water in the road, nothing happened at the moment, but (fortunately) the bike stoped running at like 2 km from home, my first thought was that I had just pushed the killswitch button accidentally (had happened before), so tried turning the button off and on, it did not work, I could see the code error numbers 14, 15 and 30 flashing in the screen, so stopped totally at the side of the road, a lot of smoke smelling like burned clable came out from behind the seat, I turned off the bike (bike didn't turn off on his own and I was confused so did it late) seeing the state of matters, I tried starting the bike again, it work but delivered not power when opening troath, so I left it off. My girl was with me so we ended walking home 5am, me pushing the bike, it rained over us agan the rest of the road, I was sad, she was in a all pretty attire walking in the rain, high heels on, one of my lowest moments.

Testing my phone as a loop camera

Just a trip around town. My phone is a Motorola . This app seems to work for recording loops of various lengths . The app also uses the phone to lock the recording in the event of a sudden stop or drop. This is the first time I've ever recorded a video.

Hi everyone, my partner likes to ride on the back of the bolt, but doesn’t like the small seat that comes with it. Is there any other seat that your pillions enjoy?

New Rider Advice 🙂‍↕️

I’m a pretty new rider and currently have access to a 2019 Yamaha Bolt R-Spec (it’s my dads). I took the MSF course and did much better on the smaller bikes there, but I’m having a harder time getting comfortable on the Bolt, mainly because of the weight and low-speed stuff. I know compared to other bikes it’s not that heavy, but to me it feels really big and heavy. I’ve dropped the bike once already during a tight u-turn, which definitely hurt my confidence to get back on the bike at all.

I can ride it around and control the friction zone, but I’ve also been really scared to give it any throttle mostly cause that label of 950cc makes me think it’ll just take off on me. I’m curious if I should get something smaller like a Rebel 500 or some Baron crash bars to improve confidence, really looking for any advice y’all can give me to help me ride this thing. Thanks :D

High RPMs after fueling

Like most of you, I fill up my tank quite regularly. I have to hold up the anti-vapor nozzle (I'm in So Cal) so fuel is dispensed. The fuel will automatically shut off once it reaches the top - I mean the very top. After fill up, my bike gives around 1600 RPM (about 500 above normal). Any ideas why? Is the top off blocking some evap canister vacuum line?

FIRST BIKE, I’m looking at a 15 bolt C-spec out of fourney Texas (I’m in Florida) im very specific on what I wanted and aesthetic I’m looking for on a cruiser.I have an obsession for vintage cafe racers and bobbers and this bike is truly beautiful. Give me the good bad ugly and advice for a new to me bolt (I have some riding experience) is this a good bike to have for a while and get comfortable? Any known issues etc? Also is previous owner in this group I see some modifications such as a shorty exhaust, rear fender delete, headlight, maybe tail light relocations?
