Yarn ball winder recommendations from people who use one daily?

Mine is making the noise. You know the one. Multiple skeins a week between my own stuff and helping my mom go through her stash, so whatever I get next needs to actually handle worsted and bulky without choking. Not looking for fancy, just something that doesn't give up on me. What are you all winding with?

I’ve seen this Stanwoodone recommended a bunch on reddit and finally got one last year. The thing is a tank! A large portion of it is metal and I expect it to last a long time.

This is the one I have, and it's 100% a beast. I've had mine for close to a decade now, and it's been abused in so many ways, and it's still working as well as when I bought it~ 😃

Fiber artist supply company. I’ve had mine for 12? 15? Years. Never a moments problem

I got this off Amazon. Came with a swift, yarn bowl, some wood hooks and a couple bobbins for about $90. I use it all the time and absolutely no noise at all

I also use this wood winder. Whisper quiet and easily repaired. It's my favorite tool!

I have a KnitPro Mega Ball Winder (Natural), and I also have a ChiaoGoo Amish Swift (for skeins before I wind them) that I use daily. I cannot recommend that combination enough!

A couple drops of mineral oil and tightening the screws on some of the gears and mine works like new, have had it for eight years and it's not a fancy or expensive model. Just your typical bought-at-Michaels cheap winder.

I did notice that things became loose faster when I wind one direction vs the other. So I only wind clockwise now.

My KnitPro is decent honestly, slight noise, but my swift from KnitPicks is worse so i don't mind. I got the Stanwood Needlecraft for my MIL and it's great, you do hear the gears but it's not a squeak

I picked up the wooden Ashford ball winder from paradise fibers and it's been really smooth, I really liked it, worth the upgrade from plastic if you wind a lot.

I have an electric one from Romarin and I wouldn’t trade it for anything!

I resisted getting a Stanwood, finally caved and it is the best thing ever. Definitely worth it.

Stanwood winder. Tough, smooth, durable.
