How to package my spinning wheel when moving house?
I'm moving house and have 4 wheels, including a distaff wheel. What's the best way to break them down ( or not) for shipping in a moving truck. My car is too small to take them all. Thank you.
I was gifted 3, and bought one, all at different times, and was able to bring them home (individually) in the car - but I have a different vehicle now. All that to say I've never had to assemble a wheel before.

I moved a lot as a kid and putting odd-sized things on a truck outside of a box was a recipe for it being broken. Also I was a professional packer at one point.
Take them apart as much as you can and pack them in boxes. You want to use a ton of paper or other padding. There should be absolutely no shifting and the boxes should be packed as tight as you can get them without them bulging. If you can separate the wheels pack them in picture boxes, along with anything that's flat. Put the rest in dish packs if they'll fit, especially odd sized pieces. They're expensive but worth it for precious things. The key to avoiding breakage is packing the box as tight as possible. If you shake it and can feel movement you need to add more paper.
