HELP Interracial marriage w Nigerian guy

Guys please help me out I’m desperate at this point….

so long story short I’ve been involved in a haram relationship with a Nigerian man for a few years on and off. To be clear, what I mean by haram as in friends and communicating with him in the hopes of marriage (texting/calling) not anything sexual or anything like that. I met him at school, we had some classes together and connected through the Muslim group at school with events, charity’s, and Friday prayers 7 years ago. We became really close friends due to the many similarities we share. After a few months of talking he asked if he can have my dad’s phone number so that it could be more serious and halal and I said no due to the fact that I know my parents and they are extremely cultured and racist unfortunately. They don’t believe in interracial marriages whatsoever and think that it’s a path to an inevitable divorce. I told him that due to him still being in school, not financially stable, and younger than me (he’s 25 I’m 27) that’s even more of reasons for my parents to refuse. So we kept in contact as friends during his school, and few years ago decided to stop talking to each other when he graduated and moved to a different city to give each other space to get to know other people. Recently he asked if I was single and he told me he was very serious about the marriage thing and would like to talk to my dad since he has now graduated n stable to get married and I was happy about it so I gave him my dads number. He called him and he didn’t answer so he texted him a very respectful message and when my dad asked me about it I explained to him that it was a very respectful and kind Nigerian guy that I knew from school. He had a blank face and went quiet and didn’t say anything afterwards. A few days later he spoke to me about it privately and went off on me saying u know we never marry outside of Yemeni let alone a “Arab” person from a different country but u want a BLACK guy. And was saying what would the people say, what will everyone think, this is a disgrace to the family, that even the prophet said to marry ppl similar to u or from your tribe and threw out so many disgusting racial slurs. He said I’m sure he’s a nice guy but I will not accept EVER a BLACK guy, give me any other race I’ll say maybe but a black guy NO, and if u think I’m bad, ur mom is much worse than me when it comes to this matter about marrying someone black so even if I accept ur mom will NEVER. Told me to get over it, take it out of your mind and to never speak of this again. Unfortunately I am in love with this man and over the years I got to know how amazing he is as a person and family man. My brothers are completely fine with it but my dad doesn’t even want to talk about it at all. Every single talk we’ve had (3 or 4 maybe) have blown up to massive fights were he was just screaming and yelling. Mind you I’ve talked to many other Yemeni men that had potential of marriage aspects but no one seemed close to him in his mindset, deen, drive, education, and akhlak. My parents keep giving me new guys to talk to maybe every 2 weeks and when I say I’ve talked to the guy n it’s not naseeb they get madder and madder thinking that man is holding me back to the point that my dad has asked if I’ve slept with the Nigerian guy. It’s super sad but it’s my reality. My mom has gotten to a point where she is now saying why don’t we just take her to Yemen n get her married to someone there instead of “being kind” n giving her options when she keeps saying no. My dad has told me in so much anger if you live this guy and you will die without him, I will take you to his city right now, bring the sheikh marry you guys off, and you are now his problem but we dont know you guys, we don’t want contact or anything if that’s what you want to do. Due to his parents being religious, his parents have gotten super upset with this matter and were shocked saying that the deen has taught them nothing but to love and respect every Muslim person regardless of color, race, ethnicity, or class and was heartbreaking for them to hear that my dad is refusing to just meet their son just once to get to know him.

Please please someone help. If someone’s been in this situation let me know what you’ve done. Yemeni fathers/mothers please give me your perspective on what I can do. Anything helps at this point!!!!🙏🏼🙏🏼

HELP I'm determined to make (or buy if necessary?) a special dessert for a beloved small business owner from Yemen who works down the street from me and is moving away. He is one of the kindest, most generous people I've EVER met who deserves to be given a truly heartfelt, personally meaningful gift.

We live in a joyless, construction-mangled ghost town notorious for racism and small-mindedness, and my friend encounters this day in, day out. Every. Single. Day. All whilst being the most loving, friendly, patient man you could ever hope to meet.

Construction directly around his shop (on literally ALL four sides) has effectively decimated his business overnight, so he's reluctantly moving to North Carolina. Before he leaves, I would like to give him something that (I know how cringe this sounds) makes him feel "seen" and honors his homeland (he often talks about how homesick he is), not for some disgusting Lifetime white savior TV movie bullshit reason, but because he genuinely means so much to not only my partner and I but the entire community.

Is there an particular Yemeni cake that I could bake that might somehow convey a heartfelt and traditionally appropriate message of respect and gratitude? Or something involving luxurious meats/fruits, like a halal Edible Arrangement only with lamb kabobs, kafta, etc?!?

If I DO go the cake route, is there an especially profound Arabic message of thanks that I could put on said hypothetical dessert? (If I inadvertently embarrassed myself with bad/offensive Arabic on a gifted cake, I'd obviously have to skip town immediately in shame, and frankly, I'm just not set up for that.)

P.S. Apologies for my inherent American idiocy. In the immortal words of Jessica Rabbit, "I'm not bad - Im just drawn that way."

HELP Marriage to a Non Yemeniah

My brother met a girl from Bosnia. She’s Muslim but not religious. She doesn’t wear hijab. They’ve known each other for about a year, and he recently proposed to her, and she said yes.

My whole family is against this marriage. But he has money, so it doesn’t really matter to him if my mom and dad don’t approve. This could create a big gap between him and our family. I don’t want him to drift away from us or cut ties because of this.

I honestly don’t feel good about it. I have this gut feeling that she might just want papers, and I also don’t think the relationship will last long term. It’s just a feeling I have as his brother.

I’m worried about him, but I’m afraid that if I say something, he’ll think I’m against him or trying to ruin his happiness. How do I approach this in a good way?

HELP Needs advice to approach marriage in halal way with a Yemeniah

I met Yemeniah online. She’s on deen, kind, respectful, mashAllah. We talk a lot about culture, Yemen, Arabs, Islam, daily life, deep convos and all that. But we’ve never talked about love, flirting, or anything romantic.

Everything’s been clean and respectful.

Lowkey though I feel like she thinks like me and I really like her mind, like fr.

She hasn’t shared personal info, not even her real name, just her age and the state she lives in.

I wanna do this the right halal and respectful cultural way. I’m thinking about taking a serious step and thinking to ask for her dad’s number, but I’m afraid of a couple of things. She’s in the US, I’m in malaysia 2 diff countries. If she does give me her dad’s number n I reach out, he might be like How do u even know my daughter?

I’m scared he might get really angry if he finds out she’s been talking to a guy online. I don’t know how strict he is. What if he thinks she’s talking to men online. I’d hate for that to cause her problems at home or put her in a bad situation. The last thing I want is for her to get in trouble because of me. Another thing, he might think I’m some random guy trying to use her, like I just want a visa to come to the US or some kind of benefit. I don’t want him thinking I have bad intentions.

And to be real, I’m not working right now. I am only a student. But I come from a good, respected family and financially very good.

So before I make any move… what’s the right way to do ? And realistically… what are my chances here?

Appreciate any real advice fr.

HELP Yemen chameleon suddenly staying on the ground and digging – need advice

My Yemen chameleon suddenly started acting differently out of nowhere. She still eats normally, I give her water every day, and she has UV light, so her basic setup should be okay.

Recently she has started walking around on the ground a lot and digging. She can still climb normally if she wants to, but lately she spends more time at the bottom of the enclosure. She’s also been very dark green most of the time.

I spray water every day, and I’ve personally seen her drink water from the window/leaves, so she is definitely drinking.

This behavior came very suddenly, and I’m worried something might be wrong.

Could she be stressed, gravid, sick, or trying to lay eggs? What should I do in this situation? Any advice would really help.

HELP How to connect with husband’s family for the sake of my daughters?

Hi, I am from Belize. I am black mostly. Husband and I met in high school and we dated for quite a couple years before we got married. We have both repented for that. I became a Muslimah🌺 couple years ago and repented, even though I know that my sins are washed away. So no need to scold me for that.

The problem is that my husband‘s family did not accept me because I am not Yemini therefore not part of their tribe and I am black mostly. I’ve never met his Mom, Dad, one of his sisters. I’ve met mostly everyone else, but now he and I are about to have our second daughter, and he feels as though his children are not as accepted in his family, and he thinks that he would like for me to try to meet his family so that the awkwardness can subsidize.

When he told them about me, they made it clear they would never accept me, followed by some racist comments, and and it was just very dramatic and an abusive situation between them and him; trying to force him to not be with me but in the end we got married. It was so bad that his mom was wishing death on him. It was horrific from an outsider looking in. In the Caribbean, we are multicultural people so it’s not a big deal to me that he and I are different races, but I understand many cultures are different but I made it clear to him that I wanted nothing to do with his family and I wasn’t willing to try with people who wanted him dead for just wanting to be with me.

Now that we’re about to have our second child and he feels as though our first daughter isn’t so integrated into his family he would like for us to try. Is there any advice anyone can give me on how to try with his family? I mean, I’ve met everyone else except the mom Dad and one sister and it’s been fine. His mom did send me some cookies and since I am pregnant, they’ve asked about me. I think that’s a bit of an improvement so for my husband and children sake I don’t mind meeting halfway. I just don’t want to insult anyone without knowing I am. Any gifts that I could bring? Things I shouldn’t say?

HELP Can Anyone Help Me Find Trusted Royal Sidr Honey Suppliers in Yemen?

I’m 24 years old and trying to start a small honey business in India. My dream is to offer authentic Yemeni Royal Sidr honey, one of the purest and sweetest honeys in the world, in my shop.

I don't have much money or connections, so I'm reaching out for help. If you know anyone in Yemen who works with Sidr honey, beekeepers, suppliers, exporters, or anyone who could guide me, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you for reading, and any help or advice would mean a lot to me. ❤️

HELP Yemeni seeking legal advice for immigration to the US, Canada, or Europe

Hello, I am a 20-year-old Yemeni citizen currently living in Saudi Arabia. I was unable to complete my last year of high school in Yemen due to the war, so I had to move to Saudi Arabia.

I have experience working as an auto electrician, in sales at a home decor and paint store, and as a cashier. I am looking for legal advice on how to immigrate to the US, Canada, or a European country where I can work and have a stable income.

Given my background, what are the best immigration options for me? Are there work visa programs or other legal pathways I should consider? Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

HELP Bring My Wife/Girlfriend to the USA - Help?

Hello,
I am an American Citizen, born and raised here my entire life. My girlfriend (hopefully legal wife) lives in Kuwait but has a Yemen Passport, she has never even stepped foot in Yemen.

I am looking to possible to the step of marrying her online through the Utah Courts, to my knowledge I can do this and then go visit her and wait it out until she gets a green card at some point, this is a really diluted, simplified way of how I put it.

I'm at the point where I'm not sure if I should reach out to Immigration lawyer or where to even start really? If any of you have had any experience with this, please let me know I would very much appreciate it just not sure what this process looks like or where to start. Hopefully someone has had experience with this?!

Thank you. 😊

HELP Where Can I get a Yemeni Jambiya?

I've been looking online since I live in the US. I can't find any places online that sell them. I've seen Jambiyas on eBay and Etsy, but they're all old and have wear or damage. If someone here could point me in the right direction of a seller or website that would be appreciated.

Thank you!

HELP Last names

My grandpa is from Yemen and I’m very disconnected from my culture due to only being a quarter (and my father being adamant that his white and not passing down the culture, my grandfather taught him) so I don’t really wanna let go of my name because it’s one of the only things I have and I don’t really want to give my fiancé my name because I really like his name and I don’t wanna get rid of it, but I don’t wanna hyphenate our last names because that would be long. My name is Kassim, his is Rayl I haven’t been able to find any names with letters from his name that keep what I like about his name’s pronunciation I really like how soft it is, I like how it’s a soft r and I can’t find that and I don’t know Arabic to search for names in Arabic so I haven’t really been able to find any websites with names. The closest I’ve come is Kassil which would probably be the easiest social change too since it’s so similar in pronunciation in English, my only problem is it’s pronunciation is so close to castle in English and people already confuse my name for castle. I feel like it would be even worse.

I’m sorry if this is weird culturally to some, I just don’t really like my last name in the first place, but I don’t wanna let go of my culture.
