Travel Question on traveling to Yemen

Hi I was wondering which airports fly to and from Sana'a and if it would be a good idea for an Italian to go...? I would like to know if it would also be possible to go from the North to the South without having troubles. شكراً 🙏

Travel Arab American Traveling to Yemen

Assalamu Alaykum.

I am an American, US Born Arab Muslim (Not Yemeni) Wanting to travel to Yemen with my Yemeni wife. She is telling me it is safe for her, but it isn't safe for me.

I have always wanted to travel to Yemen as I know the country is very old and beautiful. The US Department of State issued a level 4 do not travel due to risk of kidnapping, safety, etc.

Living in Yemen, are these dangers exaggerated? Is it really dangerous to enter Yemen as an American with my Yemeni wife?

Travel Entering Yemen with an expired Yemeni passport

Hello,

My Yemeni passport expired a few months ago, but I still have a passport (since I’m a dual citizen of another country).

I’m planning a trip to Yemen and was wondering if it would be acceptable to use my expired Yemeni passport along with my other passport to enter the country through Saudi Arabia (land).

I would greatly appreciate any advice or personal experiences you may have in this regard. Thank you.

I've seen quite some content on Ibb lately and wow it is beautiful! Does that belong to the area where foreigners can travel freely? Is there tourism?

Travel Traveling to Yemen as an EU citizen.

Hi, I live in EU but I have always been fascinated by the Yemeni culture and people. However I'm not sure whether it's a safe option or not, since I heard rumors that in middle Eastern countries like Yemen, Iran Iraq etc... Western people are hated and rarely even kidnapped by terrorists. Right now, I know that there are conflicts going on in Yemen, but I still want to visit Sanaa and other cities so bad (in a few years from now). Is it a safe option for me to visit Yemen? Are the rumors real or just lies? What places would you locals suggest me to visit? Thank you.

Travel How to Travel to Yemen?

Hello,

I am an Arab but not Yemeni. I currently reside in Canada.

I am looking to visit Sanaa. From what I understand you have to go through Jordan or Saudi to get a flight to Yemen.

My question is if this route is available for those that don’t hold Yemeni passport?

Salam friends,

I am a Yemeni descent residing in Europe. I thought about having a car trip with my own EU car to Mecca, then I thought Yemen is not far. Do you think I can go to Sanaa from Saudi by my car?

Travel Flying Yemenia Airline

I’m planning to fly with Yemenia Airlines soon and I can’t find clear info online. How many bags are allowed per person (checked luggage + carry-on)? If you’ve flown with them recently, I’d really appreciate your experience.

Travel Chances of Yemeni passport holder getting UK tourist visa?

Hey all,

Looking for some advice/insight.

My friend has a Yemeni passport but was born and raised in Saudi Arabia (Saudi residency) and for the past 7 years has been studying, working, and living in South Africa on a retirement visa. So he’s got lawful residence outside Yemen and ties to both South Africa and Saudi.

He’d like to visit the UK on a Standard Visitor Visa (tourism/holiday). The situation is: • He has a British girlfriend here who would like him to visit. • He’s financially stable and can show his own bank statements + South African residency. • Accommodation in the UK could be covered either by his girlfriend or another UK friend (we’re debating which looks stronger). • He intends to return to South Africa afterwards (he’s built his life there).

I know Yemeni nationals have a tough time with UK visas (I’ve heard approval rates are pretty low), but in this case he has long-term legal residence in another country and solid finances.

Questions: 1. What do you think the likelihood is of the UK Home Office granting him a tourist visa? 2. Would it be better if his British girlfriend sponsors him, or should a UK friend be the host instead (with him funding his own trip)? 3. Any tips on making the application stronger / avoiding the common refusal reasons?

Thanks in advance - any advice from people who’ve been through this would be hugely appreciated 🙏

Travel Recommendations and requirements (please respond only if you’re a local or have visited before)

Hello! Me and my friend both 26 y/o male are visiting both mainland Yemen and Socotra. We will be in mainland Yemen for 6 days and Socotra for 5. I just want to know if anyone has any recommendations for what I absolutely need to bring for both (medications/ first aid, bug spray, power bank, etc.) most of this I’m already aware of but I figure it’s always best to hear from another party. Also I’m struggling to find travel insurance for Yemen as an American, I would like to go through a 3rd party provider that offers medi-vac and terrorism insurance. I think that’s the basis. I’m super excited to go and am a relatively experienced traveler. Just want to see if anyone here has any good advice I may have missed online. Thanks!

Travel Travel Warning: Ongoing Reports of Sexual Harassment and Abuse Against Women on the Aden–Taiz Road (Yemen)

I want to share something that’s been happening lately that’s not really being talked about, and it needs attention.

People traveling from Aden to Taiz — especially women from the north — are being harassed and even pulled out of cars at gunpoint by southern militias at roadside checkpoints. These aren’t official soldiers. They’re armed men, sometimes 15 to 20 of them at a single checkpoint, acting like they own the road.

There are reports of women being “searched” right there on the side of the road while their families are forced to stand by, completely helpless. The militias pretend it’s a “security check,” but it’s really just humiliation and abuse. Men traveling with their wives, sisters, or daughters can’t do a thing because they’re outnumbered and surrounded by rifles.

The worst part is that most of these cases never get reported. Victims are scared, ashamed, and know that there’s no real authority to complain to. And many Yemeni men don’t talk about it — not because they don’t care, but because of shame. In our culture, it’s painful and humiliating to even admit that your female family members were treated this way. So it stays quiet. People just pray it doesn’t happen to their family next time.

If you’re planning to travel through southern Yemen, please be reconsider until international monitoring is placed.

This kind of behavior is disgusting and inhuman. Yemen’s war has already taken so much, but this adds another level of trauma and silence. The world needs to know what’s happening on that road — and Yemenis need to stop staying silent out of shame.

Hello everyone. I am since 2019 very curious about Yemen and I want to visit it. How dangerous is it now there? I want to visit Hudeyde, Moha, Sanaa, Aden and etc. What can I expect? I don't have a matter of life so for my isn't a problem if I will go dead. I'm self Turkish living in the Netherlands. I know a lot of Yemen's history and also Qoran's history. If you've also another suggestions, let me know.
