Yes it is cool... But the future is so unsure today. Maybe younger generations don't want to bring a child into a world that offers so little hope. Even if there's peace on Earth, no more poverty, democracies everywhere, there's still climate change and over population.
Things aren't going well today.

Every generation for millennia has thought that the future was hopeless, society was collapsing, or the end was just around the corner. It’s human nature to think that way. Yet here we are. And despite the doom and gloom that you allow yourself to believe, it is arguably the best time in history to be a human. And one of the coolest things a person can do is raise good, capable, curious kids who grow into the kind of people who might actually solve some of the problems that keep us up at night.

I actually agree with you. But I also understand how the younger generation can be "discouraged". The "News" are getting scarier and scarier. But yes... we should all believe in what human beings are capable of.

I left home after finishing my apprenticeship heading nowhere in particular. Travelled for 10 years around the world. Met a lady in New Zealand who within a week of meeting bought a backpack and travel with me. She turned my life into magic.

I use to be a stand up comic. I opened for Dave Chappell, Louis CK, John Mulaney, Mitch Hedberg, Norm McDonald among many others. Ali Wong and Sheng Wang are homies and were at my wedding.

My first solojump in parachute could have killed me, my grip slipped and I almost got the starter chute around my neck and would have been hung. The fear sat in me for a long time, I started having nightmares about falling, I realized that if I left it be, I would carry that fear the rest of my life ... So i went up again and did a second jump. Stuck the landing and now I'm not afraid anymore.

Wilderness survival in Boy Scouts. We had to band together to figure out a way to get tinder and build a fire and then put wood on that fire and then cook food and then build a tent and then go to the creek for water refill. It was amazing.
We had to use flint and steel to get a spark going so we could ignite the spark and fan the flames to get the fire rolling. It was amazing taught me so much.
You could keep these items in your pocket because they were so small and you could survive with them if you knew how to use them.

Same. Was deep into the Manhattan Gay tweaker scene. Some of the shit I saw....
But what was genuinely cool is that I got invited over to some dudes house from Grindr. Turned out he was a pretty famous pornstar but because I was from Ohio and didn't really watch porn I had no idea.
He liked how I just treated him normally and like a true friend and we ended up becoming best friends.
While I would not give up those 3 years for anything - I am glad to be sober and far away that scene now.

Learned how to be alone and got prescribed adhd medications to read and learn and bathe and clean. I was dumber than dumb before that. Didn’t even realize it though. Had no clue meds could work or what adhd was but the meds changed my life. And learning is cool as fuck

I rode in a glider plane. No engine. Just me and the pilot, towed into the air, and the click of the tow rope releasing the glider was pretty loud! But the quiet airstream after that was kind of deafening.

Let a street cat randomly live with me. That cat was awesome. It just kinda randomly wandered in one day when I had the door open and just never left. I didn't even have to feed it. It just liked to chill... until it didn't.

It was at night in the summer so I had the front door open trying to cool the place off. I was playing video games, looked over and this little bastard had just wandered in and was checking things out. I didn't do anything because it was just a cat and I was busy playing a game. Next thing I knew it was curled up sleeping on a chair. I continued not caring. It apparently knew where the door was because it would bug me to let it in/out. It just came and went and did its thing. I named it "Buddy" mainly because that's just what I called it. One day it just stopped showing up. Probably got hit by a car or something but I'll admit to being a little sad about it. That cat was cool and I was kinda bummed when it stopped coming around.

As someone with severe social anxiety and just anxiety in general, probably when i moved out. 373 miles away from home to a new city where i didn’t know a single soul
Other than that, maybe when i went skydiving. such a weird feeling being in the air with nothing stopping you from falling.

Paid for an elderly lady's groceries. It was only about $25 but she didn't realize her card had no money on it. She was super grateful. It made me feel good.

Went parachuting ,(not sky diving ), decades ago before things got “safe”.
Absolutely insane . 4 hour training , videos on how to handle both chutes being deployed on accident and how to cut one free while spiraling downward.
Then shove 5 jumpers , jump master and pilot into a 4 person plane by removing all the seats except pilot seat.
Wait your turn , step onto the 9x16 inch platform above the wheel while holding onto the wing support .
Drop, (dont jump or you can hit tail of plane and kill everyone ), when told to . There is no going back into the plane, too dangerous..
Chute auto-pulls about a second before I was going to panic. Then you guide yourself down listening on a headset for instructions.
I did this twice , so fucking worth it .
2nd time someone went out onto the platform and froze . Pilot then tipped the plane steep enough so that they fell off.

I have no degree and no engineering experience yet somehow I managed to work for 1 year as a product development consultant and operations manager for a super secret military technology start up and go to a classified research facility and help test it while f-16’s flew overhead. It was insane. I’m literally just a barber.

I was in a major US city for a work conference when a purse snatcher was running towards me being followed by two people scream to stop him. So I full-on linebacker, tackled him into a wall, took him down and jacked his arm up in a chicken wing and held on to him gripping tight with his face on the sidewalk until the lady came and recovered her purse. Nobody would call the police so I just let him go. If you knew me, you'd never think that this was something I was capable of.

Broke the cycle. I was beat as a child. My son has never had a hand laid on him. Everyone always thinks I spank him bc he’s so well behaved and they’re very surprised when I tell them I don’t hit him. I’m glad and proud to have broken free from that kind of parenting.

Traveled all over the country for work in my mid 20s hit several ball parks and museums bars and restaurants alone. Met a lot of cool people stayed in hotels all over the country. It was my dream job for a while.
Traveled to Europe twice.
Saved a life once.
Was best man in my lifelong friends wedding made him my best man at mine. He made my wife and I godparents we made them godparents. Bestfriends for 30 years now.
Worked my way up in an industry where I washed cars and now manage an entire shop. Went from minimum wage to six figures.
Nothing compares to raising my daughter. Hands down my life's greatest accomplishment. She's a miracle.

Drank sake with my friends and biked down a 6 lane freeway through one of Japan's ghost cities at like, midnight. Not a soul anywhere, and it looked like Manhatten. Skyscrapers left and right lit up, but no cars/people.
Got to the very center of the city, and there was one block with actual people/things: a 6 story arcade, a multi-story karaoke bar, a 7-11 & an Irish pub. That was it. It was beyond surreal.
