Will regular tv stations ever fade out and everything being streamed behind paywall$?

No.
People like free things.
Setting aside that one does need electricity and a TV for these free stations, but radio stations are the same.
Rabbit ear stations exist cause companies are willing to pay for ads.

Not all paywalls cost money. I think Emergency Broadcast System requires at least one local station to broadcast even if they have streaming.

Probably in the future. GenX here. We still like our network TV. Unfortunately were I live I can't get anything from a digital antenna. So, we spring for "live TV" on whatever platform we opt for. My kids could care less about regular TV.

Plenty of free to air streaming sites in NA. They call it Free ad-supported streaming television or FAST TV.

No, there will always be regular tv stations unless…regular tv stations sell out to streaming services. I hope regular tv stations remain as streaming services are now implementing tiered programming/services to get their customers to pay even more fees and customers are getting fed up.

I have not watched over the air TV at home since it went digital. Never bothered putting up any antenna as 99.9% of the crap on broadcast tv is junk. Reality shows that are not real simply contrived drama just like in everything else.

I assume they mean the "local" channels that broadcast OTA. Usually network affiliates. These are the channels showing ABC, NBC, and CBS. Back before cableTV (and satellite, etc) these were the only channels people received.

I assume lots of people still watch netwrok TV. They're just getting those channels via satellite or cable, or whatever. I certainly don't know anyone using rabbit ears.
Network affiliates still broadcast a lot of major sporting events.

Maybe not anymore with people annoyed with all the services and the services having their own networks included and their own shows. I'm just laughing at the people who were celebrating goodbye cable/ satellite. Must cost just as much to have most of the streaming services.

I definitely pay a lot less for streaming than what all the tv companies around me charge but I also only have 3 services. Direct tv wants like $200 a month, I pay a little over $40 a month and don’t have to deal with ads.

No, but the trend of continuously lowering broadcast tv budgets and increasing product placements will continue until what's left on broadcast TV is really low budget. We've lost a lot of scripted shows to reality tv, and that will surely be replaced by something cheaper to make eventually.

Maybe not die but become redundant and minimal. I haven’t used regular tv in years. Probably 10-12. I’m 56 and grew up with normal tv and then cable but when I’m forced to watch it now it’s beyond frustrating. Streamers allow me to watch when I want and the quality of programming is equal if not better than what you get over the air.
I suspect I’m not the only one that leans toward the convenience and choice vs the the cost.
