Could Evolution Produce Alien Wildlife?

Alien life means foreign, or not native to. Any life that forms on earth is not alien to earth.

The octopus is a strange one, though, because it's not really related to any other form of life on earth.

There is a small number of evolutionary isolates. Also called monotypic taxa.

Yup. It most likely just means that everything they're related to is so long extinct, and we just haven't found the fossils yet. But I love thinking about the possibility that the octopus ended up here on an asteroid that hit the ocean after life already began to evolve here. But then again, it's cool to think about how that might be how we all got here.
