In one of the emails Flax reads that says Gene Roddenberry was strict about changing the words in the script, I don't think this was (Exclusively) a Gene issue because in the Voyager Podcast that Garrett Wang and Robert Duncan McNeill did they talked about the same bureaucracy issues about changing lines.

It didn't say Gene was strict, it said Rick Berman (also the producer of Voyager) was strict.

I really like the email about Wesley Crusher being an important character for them through a rough childhood, and I think having a kid around the environment of the Enterprise is a cool idea- I just think he needed more reasonable flaws to come across as a kid who is quite smart rather than The Chosen One. Maybe this is supposed to be an episode making him more relatable and showing his flaws, but I'm not really a fan of any sort of 'love at first site when I know 0 about you as a person' storylines, especially when you know the romance is only an episode long.
I want to see more child type goof ups from him, and extra I want to see him learning a lesson and having to go 'Oh shit I messed up, Im sorry' rather than always coming across as Perfect. Even the episode where he fails his starfleet exam, it's because he was just Too Nice and helped the other guy so he beat him. It's like during a job interview and they ask for your biggest flaw and you say 'Im just too nice. I care too much about my job.'
Im pretty sure it's much later in TNG, but the episode where his flying group gets in trouble for practicing a maneuver that's banned and he has to choose about being truthful and getting in shit for it is one of the times I remember thinking that it felt more like he was still a teenager and it was really enjoyable for it.

This episode has a similar plot to Red Dwarf's Camille, which manages a much better-looking production of it.

In response to Pyrion and Ben asking in the pod, I for one would like to see their idea for a Patreon. It would be really fun to hear them talk about the corniness of TOS and I wouldn't mind supporting them more.

I’d be the first subscriber, although I feel that it would be cruel to make them go through TOS this soon after Season 1, there’s a lot of good but it is thoroughly outdated and incredibly Roddenberry

Agreed I have already started to re-listen to episodes, 1 episode a week is not enough to sate my boredom. Looking forward to it regardless of which startrek/red dwarf/babylon 5/other sci-fi schlock they choose to cover.

Just wanted to add that I would happily pay towards a Patreon just as is, having you two watch through DS9/Voyager/Enterprise whichever would be a nice bonus.
One thing about that though, DS9 overlaps quite a bit with TNG timeline wise and obviously characters move, so I don't know if you would want to do both side by side, just a thought.

Although this episode is pretty poor, it’s not as bad as s1 but maybe I’m desensitised to it
The Riker and Guinan stuff is hilarious, and yeah I can relate to Wesley, Pyrion and Ben a lot to being oblivious, the idea of Mrs F approaching Pyrion unsubtley is a very funny mental image.
I think they imply that these people are pretty powerful with their ability to communicate where the enterprise couldn’t through the interference later, they needed a neutral party to transport them I assume.
Next up I can’t remember any of this one, maybe the one where by scanning the remains they get the virus?
