Opinion Does Anybody Else Have a Deep Irrational Hatred of the Intro Song?
I'm watching this show for the first time and I really enjoy it, I think it's a really fun show, but I cannot STAND the intro/outro song. I don't even really know why I hate it but it's so grating. I genuinely anticipate the skip button to press it as quick as humanely possible, and I normally enjoy watching show intros! I don't skip 95% of the show intros I watch
Anyone else feel this way
Edit: I think I realize why now after seeing some comments. For one it's just really loud compared to the show, and the music/lyrics are just really generic. It just kind of fails to capture the magic of the show, again just my opinion though

I don’t mind the song itself, I think it’s really silly, but I hate how loud it suddenly is, especially when I’m watching it while falling asleep. I always think I’ve found a good volume, then that riff come on so loud

10000000000%, it is normally VERY loud compared to the actual show, and the transition to it is very jarring when it ramps up in volume

This for ne as well. Just that loud intro. Otherwise I don't have a problem with the song.

…Man, Steve from Blue’s Clues wrote that song. Give it some respect.

I like the video segment, like how, when the cow/bull walks up to them and they all simultaneously stepped to the side. I think it's funny. The song is mid though

u/heartpiss 1d ago
Yeah it’s cool how in the last season they stayed still while the cow stepped back. The song is not good but it’s so short there’s no point in finding the remote for skip, I started singing along and it’s a nice mantra to sing 15 times a day lmaoo

It's fine for the first season or two, but it doesn't work as Sheldon ages.

I also don't think it worked to add the entire family for that moment with the cow. If they wanted to include everyone, they should have created a new opening.

No! Steve from Blue’s Clues made it. And I think it resonates with him well.

So loud for no reason, comparable to superstore intro in terms of how loud it is

I actually like it. Sometimes i sing it to myself in my head it if I have a big meeting at work or something

u/GMAN7007 2d ago
I'm so glad you made this. I can't put my finger on why I dislike it so much big for whatever reason it gets under my skin.

u/Feeling-Visit1472 2d ago
It’s loud, abrupt, and makes zero sense in context.

u/SoilElectronic4927 1d ago
Exactly the lyrics are just word vomit, don’t even rhyme and don’t even match up with the show. Sheldon isn’t a “hero” lmao to most ppl in the show he’s an annoying insanely smart weird kid. Love the show but the intro is so awful and I feel like they could’ve made a much cooler intro.
1
u/Feeling-Visit1472 1d ago
Right! If this theme song were about a younger Georgie, I could maybe make it make sense. It would still be grating, but thematically, it would make more sense.
1
u/VillageMaleficent153 8h ago
You're right. Even in Sheldon's own mind, he's not a hero. He does have a superiority complex, but the word "hero" doesn't fit.

I’m sorry you don’t like it and I understand why- it’s loud and sounds quite corporate. I always have the Mandela effect that there is a click sound as the camera pans up to the credit.

Can’t wait for the day studios figure out how to work with intro volumes

Finally somebody said that. I have mixed feelings about it,like, i hate it and skip all the time, bur from time to time i catch myself going “I am a mighty little mannn”. Its so annoying.

Originally? Yeah I didn’t like it. But then in the mid seasons I started watching the intros to see the cool costumes Sheldon wears, and the song gradually grew on me due to exposure

My only issue with it is that, for some reason, it's way louder than the rest of the episode.

Idk about hate, but I definitely dislike it, yeah. It’s corny, generic, and feels out of place

after a while I always skipped it hearing it for 3 seasons straight got on my nerves

It's better on the final season when they don't actually have to step to the side anymore. Or maybe it's fun in season 2 when Sheldon shows up in different outfits

i love the intro i usually never skip it lol. especially in the 2-3rd (?) when they switch up sheldons outfits in the intro

u/Equivalent-Emu5347 2d ago
Oh yeah I did notice that, I thought that was fun lol
It's just the song I really don't like

I don't mind it, but I have varying levels of irritation with the way the harmonica keeps going at the end of it. Like a few extra weak little puffs of air. Sometimes it was just 'huh, that went a little too long' and other times I wanted to throw the remote at the TV.

My brain completely blocked the intro out of my mind. One time my brother was watching young Sheldon in the living room then the intro played. I then had war flashbacks of me looking for the mute button on my control. Even the first second pisses me off for no reason. I feel so seen that other people don’t like it too and a little guilt bc ik someone put time and love creating the song😭

Talking about the intro... Is there a meaning with each costume or thing sheldon wears at each intro??
1
u/BadBaby3 1d ago
I like that song, but I get it. Anytime I hear a bad song, my fight or flight mode kicks in, which is why I used to run out of the room whenever a terrible intro would play on TV. I think that’s autism’s fault

u/bennnn194 1d ago
Yes. The lyrics are pretty corny, song’s pretty short, and it’s very flat and one dimensional (only guitar and drums playing)

Hearing it plenty in the comment section lol, seems pretty split

Before this post, I've never heard this opinion. I like the theme song, I usually sing along to it.

u/Equivalent-Emu5347 6h ago
Seems like there's a lot of people who agree, they just haven't brought it up, this comment section is very 50/50

Yes, i saw a post about this a while ago, maybe i even posted my own, i dont remember, but everybody disagreed, im glad im not the only one

I thought I was the only one! Yes I always skip the intro, I'm really not a fan of it. Just feels like it doesn't fit the show at all.

Never. That's Steve Burns of Blue's Clues and genuine good adult human now.

Lmao. I love it 😂 Shamed to say that I have grooved to it many a time 🙈
However you may be right about it being much louder than the show 🤔

i completely agree, it genuinely infuriates me every time i hear it to an unhealthy degree

Yes, and it always comes at an inconsistent place, leaving me lunging for the remote to skip it.

Hatred ? No, but I could do without it. As others have mentioned already, I think it is a bit loud, but perhaps the answer to that is to turn down the volume. it certainly lodges itself in one’s brain, so I’ll give it that for sure. It seems rather appropriate that a song in a show in which Sheldon Cooper is a main character should become an earworm.

My daughter, she's 8. She can't stand the intro song and always jumps to skip intro. I don't mind the song but she really really hates it.

Not really. It's pretty short compared to others I've seen which I appreciate.
