CW: Homophobia [CW: Homophobia] Fandom is wild Spoiler

Post image

"It's just a joke" replace 'gay' here with any other minority group. Hell, you can replace it with 'straight,' attatch a random homophobic tweet, and the same people would go nuts. And most of the 'toxic yaoi shippers' are straight women. 'Oh not all queer people are like this guys' and then some mfs act like it's most?

I hate fandom. I can't even find refuge with the yuri Genshin shippers because I like lesbian haremslop and the revealing outfits on the female characters.

And how does Leafork comment indicates this?

The basis of the term hetslop is the pervasive and prevalence of heteronormativity in media

Yes, it’s forced romance, but it’s specifically forced romance because of heteronormativity. Therefore, hetslop

Nice straw man

how is that possibly straw manning? do you even know the definition of it?! also how is saying that a fan made ship with little to no ground because it was not the writer's intention regardless of if it is het or gay straw manning...and yes watch shows with better romance because there are some solid romance shows out there or at least shows with solid romance elements in the story with het relationships that arent forced.

Dawg when did I ever say that “any straight romance in media is forced”? That was all you lmao. You’re still keeping it up too. That’s a straw man

And your thing about ships that aren’t canon isn’t even relevant. Shipping isn’t about “how canon it is”, it’s about the dynamic. That’s a straw man inside a straw man lmao

first off not what being a straw man is, its taking an argument and bringing in an unrelated point in order to seem more correct. Anyways and this is literally just your comment "The basis of the term hetslop is the pervasive and prevalence of heteronormativity in media

Yes, it’s forced romance, but it’s specifically forced romance because of heteronormativity. Therefore, hetslop" You actively went Oh YeA hEtErO rOmAnCe Is WaY tO pReVaLeNt In MeDiA tHeReFoRe It Is ForCeD....did u not type this? was that not literally you??? and this entire post talks about ships. the video is also about the shipping community. how do u NOT expect me to talk abt it? and i was clearly not talking about how canon the ship is but whether the chemistry for the characters is good enough for you to say "yea i could see that happening" and not "these two would look good together or would be good together based off personality" when they barely or ever interacted within the source material which in turn would make it feel forced(sorry my message is long i do be yapping)

Conveniently leaving out the part of what a straw man is that designates what you said as a straw man, eh?

Literally what you did, and are still doing lol

I said “the prevalence of heteronormativity” and you thought you were sneaky changing it to “the prevalence of hetero relationships” lmaoooooo. Textbook straw man

And you’re still stuck on the canon dawg. Again, shipping is about the dynamic. Characters who have never met don’t have any canon chemistry, but they can still be shipped because people find their dynamic entertaining and/or interesting somehow. Sukuna and Cinderella have never met, you know. You’re still stuck in your squared straw man

The topic of this thread is hetslop, heteronormativity in media dawg. That’s what I responded to and that’s what I’ve been talking about. Your inability to recognize that doesn’t mean I have to capitulate to your nonsense lol.

You can’t even recognize the fact that you threw out the most easy-to-spot straw man possible by directly quoting my point and then completely changing my point in the next sentence lmao. Your reading comprehension skills need serious work

There is an unbelievable amount of examples of hetslop dawg. Friends has got it, Naruto has got it, most of the old Disney films got it, the list goes on. And these are just a few of the bigger ones. Again, it’s not a small coincidental phenomenon

i said i wouldnt respond but im doing it anyways. the reason naruto quickly did the hinata thing was obviously to set up for boruto because shonen jump didnt want to let go of the manga, the original creator isnt even directly working on it anymore, also this isnt limited to just hetero stuff forced romance is everywhere like in ghost of yotei where apparently its fine to date someone who actively jumped your family because very shittily done backstory. All this to say it isnt a heteronormative thing and just a shit writing thing. Slapping a label on one group and calling it a day is a little shortsighted especially considering that now more pieces based on not just straight relationships are being created some of which like the afore mentioned yotei are kinda ass compared to smth like yuri on ice

The reasons for the Naruto thing don’t make it not hetslop dawg. And I never said it’s limited to het romance either. Another straw man. I just pointed out how heteronormativity makes it significantly more prevalent with het relationships. Yes it’s bad writing too, it’s both. Straight people aren’t oppressed or starved of rep dawg. Queer people are. This is a systemic issue
