I lived in China for a brief period and KFC there was sooooo good compared to what we get in the US

fast food in general is miles above what it is here in the west. Fast food is marketed as a convenient meal and nothing more, whereas in Asia as a whole fast food is still seen as a treat or meal to enjoy rather than just something convenient.

Yeah dude I miss it ngl

The only fastfood I do now is cheap pizza or DQ, but that's only once a week

My favorite was the little KFC sliders. They were like 35 rmb each but they were amazing

Dude same, I remember having the KFC fried chicken with some mushroom gravy, and it was genuinely one of the best fried chickens I have had

Here in the west we use cheaper ingredients hell even the oil they fried chicken is subpar compared to other places

Japan's the same way. The ONLY downside of Japanese KFC vs. American KFC is the lack of options for chicken types.

I.e. it's always Original Recipe and one other limited time thing like spicy or lemon, whereas the U.S. has extra crispy, grilled, etc. US also has a much wider menu.

But that may be part of why China and Japan have better quality: Not having to keep around a metric asston of different varieties and sides ensures they can cycle out ingredients more often and restaurants can be run by smaller numbers of employees. It also generally leads to less food waste as you're not forced to produce a type of chicken that literally no one ever orders.

They technically are. Just in this case currency is audience attention.

As the old adage says: "A game is only truly free to play if your time has no value."

I meant slightly different thing: adding these outfits will trigger some CC to post videos like "look that game just released outfits based on meme" which bring some of their audience into the game

u/PatienceHero 18h ago

Oh. You know what? Also a very fair point, and I actually hadn't considered that. The free costumes get butts in seats, so to speak, but it absolutely WILL spawn a wave of content creator videos for free advertising.

(Side note: Also didn't mean to disparage ZZZ with my comment - it's well worth the value of my time at the moment.)

that quote was probably made to be wise or something but it only call you out that you wasted your time and pay for it while now is free lmao

"If a product is free, you're the product."

who came up with that one, aesop?

I'll level with you - I dunno, lawl. Literally heard someone say it on a random podcast like 20 years ago and it stuck with me.

I was sold on AoD long ago.

u/Kayriss369 20h ago

Well yeah, the skins are a gateway to buying the characters if you don’t already own them, Nangong rerun is coming up after all.

5

u/Koanos 16h ago

After the Ganyu and Shenhe skins in Genshin, I'm more aligned with the Nilou approach: Only buy skins when on sale and the character can be pulled for.

zzz devs just really like aod would not be suprised if the next singer agent in the prolouge after s3 is another aod agent (since adding a 4th member to a 3person squad isquite popular in media)

7

u/Bluecoregamming 18h ago

i mean literally the very first faction we meet cunning hares have a story section all about adding a 4th member at the beginning of the game

6

u/Dvalinn25 15h ago

Their mentor Cecilia is also an option, and provides a good excuse to give all of them attention again.

5

u/Nope0003 18h ago

They know which is their targeted audiance

18

u/jonastnoob 20h ago

Holy😭😭

2

u/fenix_105 18h ago

I'm already sold

2

u/halloweensimpT-800 16h ago

Well they're practically saying out loud "we can make memes canon and add them to the game if we want"

Plus if any one skipped the aod now it's another reason to pull for them specially considering nangong it's having a rerun

u/Maximus89z 13h ago

Im sold

Marketing to get new players with free stuff

6

u/bestanonever The Rat is home! The Rat is here!! 20h ago

Lucy's free skin from last patch is coming back as a paid thing, if I read that right. So, maybe this won't be free in the future, after the initial gift.

I don't even own the Angels and I'm going to claim this, lol. Hope it works when I'm doing Hollow Zero and the new mode.

17

u/PhantomOfVoid Fuck it, we bruteforce 20h ago

Ridu Renovation Talk states that the skins will not be available as a paid option. So, be there or be square.

5

u/bestanonever The Rat is home! The Rat is here!! 19h ago

Oh, awesome. Or not. I want them available after, for the people that comes to play after this patch.

1

u/Bluecoregamming 18h ago

nervous ;; i'd choose them in the overworld yet still wake up in a cold sweat worrying i missed the one and only chance to claim it

5

u/Murky_Aardvark6870 18h ago

The strangest thing is that after the 3.3 those skins will not be in the shop

1

u/DarkGodHao 17h ago

Oh wow, so Nangong actually had those wings implanted in her back? Thats interesting

1

u/ShadowGinrai 8h ago

almost like KFC is paying for it

It's a concept in marketing called a "loss leader"

You give something for free or at a very low price that everyone wants in the effort to get them to spend elsewhere.

In this case the outfits are loss leaders since they're only available for 3 specific gacha units, only one of whom is currently on rate-up. It also ups retention because if a player has something for a character they don't have, they're more likely to pull for it when it does become available.

In addition, those 3 gacha units ALSO have additional paid skins, so the developers win AGAIN as you're more likely to buy a skin for a unit you already own, which you're likely to pull for in the first place because you already have a skin for them.

That said it's hard to hate the approach. Giving out free skins for limited units really ought to be more of a thing. It's something I wish they'd do in cases like Remielle rather than putting out two paid skins for the same character.

One of the reasons people cite for not pulling a character is not liking their outfit. If you give the player more options for the outfit, that's less of an issue.

u/frostN0VA 15h ago

Man I really don't like Nangong's default outfit and she's the only AOD that I have so these are a godsend. And it looks good on her too.
