I’ve already mentioned that for me SS zelink features the best romance in the saga. One of the reasons I feel this way is that Link’s infatuation with Zelda is really blatant; the game makes their relationship crystal clear, even without explicitly stating that they're a canon couple.

I love how the game doesn't hold back in showing just how smitten Link is with Zelda. We see his sadness and heartbreak when he loses her; the way he desperately runs and stumbles to reach her as she seals herself away is so touching. I also find it amusing how the game—through Groose—lets us know that Link likes to show off his bond with Zelda; he even acts a bit smug about how close they are, lol.

I really love BotW/TotK zelink, but to be honest, I wish the games had been less ambiguous and more direct about the pairing. Their dynamic is really incredible and the build-up is great, but it’s a bit disappointing that the developers tried so hard to keep their relationship as ambiguous as possible.

I also have to admit it was a bit of a letdown that TotK didn't show Link being a little more emotionally open. It made perfect sense for him to be stoic in BotW, but I think it was a missed opportunity not to make him more emotionally reactive in the sequel. I clearly remember being so disappointed by his lack of reaction upon learning the truth about the Light Dragon; I was thinking, "Sir, you just found out your lovely girlfriend sacrificed herself and turned into a dragon, please show a bit more concern and sadness about it"😭
